Chapter 35 I Fear Classmate Isda Will Be Left with a Psychological Shadow

The little bear biscuit in Isda’s hand was unconsciously broken in half.
B-batman?
Everyone’s spiritual symbols store a vast amount of memories, and what can be observed by the Eye of Insight often consists of the darkest, most painful memories in another’s mind.
Thus, it is also the most reflective of a person’s true nature.
As a professional psychological examiner, Isda’s experience with the Eye of Insight is considerable.
There are those whose families were exterminated by enemies when they were young, forced to hide under the bed and watch their parents d*e, swearing bl**d oaths for revenge.
There are young geniuses who fall from grace overnight, with the betrothed coming to break off the engagement after a three-year promise.
There are those backstabbed by fiancées, imprisoned, yet discovering secret passages, treasure maps, and rings housing the souls of strong individuals in prison.
Then there are those falsely accused and exiled to the borders; expelled from hero parties; used as substitutes for wealthy heiresses studying abroad, vowing to make them regret; aged seventy but still attracted by a domineering duke…
Over the years, Isda has seen almost every kind of scenario, which can be said to be extensive in experience.
However—
What she saw this time in Rast through the Eye of Insight surpassed her expectations.
Walking in darkness yet aspiring towards the light.
Operating outside the law yet maintaining the order of that city in his own way.
Faced with criminals plotting from within, he would rather sacrifice his reputation than let residents lose faith in justice.
He is a silent guardian, a vigilant protector.
And also a knight of darkness.
Isda fell silent.
She once thought that heroes did not exist in this world.
“Friends of justice” should only exist in fairy tales and fantasies, fabricated creations by writers.
Even those who appear exceptionally upright on the surface must surely have some dark secrets hidden within.
That is why she so tirelessly sought the truth.
To pierce through the glossy exteriors of those hypocrites and expose their ugly, filthy hearts to the sunlight… This is where Isda found pleasure in her insights.
But at this moment.
In the face of such stark righteousness, which, despite being steeped in darkness, still watches over the light, her beliefs wavered.
That Batman-like ideology, although somewhat crude, naive, and slightly adolescent.
Yet it is that kind of tender and pure justice that makes Isda’s voyeurism seem so insignificant.
Compared to the boy in the inquiry room, she is the one who’s hypocritical and ugly, a clown speculating on others with dark thoughts.
Her mental energy had already been exhausted when she activated the Eye of Insight earlier, and at this moment even the will that had supported her all along started to shake, momentarily plunging her into a slight daze.
And it was at that moment of daze for Isda.
She was horrified to discover that the pitch-black little cat, as Rast’s spiritual symbol, suddenly looked over at her.
Then, it opened its gaping mouth once more.
“Gurgle gurgle gurgle…”
The wails of Isda’s spiritual incarnation were swallowed by countless tentacles.
…
“Mr. Silver, I didn’t expect you to arrive so soon.”
“If you came, why didn’t you notify the Night World base? If it weren’t for my intuition sensing unusual spatial fluctuations nearby, I wouldn’t even know this news.”
Hiltina pushed open the door.
She gently laid her hands on her skirt, slightly bent her knees, and performed a standard impeccable noble bow.
“That spatial trace was purposely left for you to see, but you discovered it faster than I expected. It seems this time entering the Night World has been quite rewarding for you.”
An elegant and lazy voice echoed in the room, yet the owner of this voice, referred to as Mr. Silver by Hiltina, was not human.
It was a snow-white creature that looked somewhat like a fox and somewhat like a big cat; its silvery fur evoked thoughts of the snow mountains of the far North.
At this moment, it was lazily reclining on the sofa in the room, a large bag of dried fish on the armrest, and a tablet computer placed in front of it.
What was unusual was that although it lay lazily on the sofa, doing nothing, the screen of the tablet was changing on its own, occasionally causing a piece of dried fish to float up from the bag and slowly fall into its mouth.
As if there were an invisible hand manipulating everything in the void.
Noticing Hiltina entering, Mr. Silver remained sprawled on the sofa, only lifting its fluffy snow-white tail as a greeting: “Young Tina, are you almost at the Fourth Tier?”
“Mhm.” Hiltina sat down elegantly on the opposite sofa: “It’s all thanks to Mr. Silver’s excellent teaching.”
“Alright, if only you could apply half of this obedient and polite demeanor in your attitude towards your own stubbornness and your father, I wouldn’t have to worry so much.”
Mr. Silver lifted its tail in resignation: “Forget that, let’s not talk about those things.”
“I am here to discuss the Night Traveler, who was lost in the echoes of history, that you mentioned earlier.”
Hiltina’s eyes slightly moved: “Rast has come out from the Night World passage?”
“Yeah, a few hours after you, just as you were meditating and training.”
“Based on the request you made as one of the Twelve Seats of the Round Table, the school did not follow the usual thirty-day quarantine-testing-monitoring procedure but instead sent in psychological examiner Isda Yulian to conduct a risk assessment directly on Rast.”
Hiltina frowned slightly: “That Night Blade is Isda of the ‘Eye of Insight’?”
“Why did they specifically send her among all the psychological examiners at Starry University?”
Clearly, as a fellow student of Starry University, Hiltina had also heard of Isda’s quirks.
“This matter has nothing to do with me; it was decided by the academy.” Mr. Silver stuffed a piece of dried fish into its mouth.
It glanced at Hiltina: “What’s wrong? Little Tina? Are you worried about him?”
“But according to the procedure, once the risk assessment process is initiated, it cannot be stopped; you can only hope that this guy named Rast has nothing to hide and can withstand the test of the ‘Eye of Insight.’”
“Though Isda has some strange preferences, she has never wrongfully accused a good person.”
While speaking, Mr. Silver grabbed the tablet from the table, where the screen was displaying real-time monitoring footage of the psychological assessment.
But immediately after, Mr. Silver’s actions froze in place.
On the screen, Rast was sitting leisurely in the inquiry room, doing nothing.
And on the other side of the one-way mirror.
The main examiner of the risk assessment, Isda Yulian, who had sent countless students at Starry University trembling in fear, was now slumped in her chair, looking dazed.
She stared blankly at the ceiling, her twin tails languidly falling from her shoulders, her gaze vacant and hollow, as if her soul had been lost.
That originally cold and frosty face was now showing a look of despair.
“Mr. Silver, you misunderstood my meaning.”
Hiltina’s voice resonated softly: “What I’m worried about is not Rast, but the safety of classmate Isda.”
“I fear she will be left with some psychological shadow from Rast, and that she won’t be able to use the Night Blade again. If that happens, the academy will also lose an excellent psychological examiner.”
