The reason Soren did not let Vivian set off with him is clear.
The Demon Son of Fear has the ability to sense each other, so he was a bit worried about running into the Vampire Son. After all, the Vampire Son is the most powerful Demon Son of Fear at this moment, possessing the deified form of a Saint. If they were to encounter each other, their chances of winning would be slim. From this perspective, keeping Vivian on the Overseas Islands is the safest option, as she is the first Son and is a target the Vampire Son most wants to kill.
Having already established a base on the Overseas Islands, Soren naturally did not wish to encounter complications.
Once the base is established and the Drow are recovered, he can soon expand outward and lay out plans for Vivian to deal with the Demon God of Fear in the future. Although the Vampire Son got a head start, Soren’s situation is absolutely superior. If his plans succeed, he can soon surpass them. After all, the followers of the Vampire Son come from vampires, giving them an innate disadvantage; the number of vampires can never be too high, which is something other factions cannot allow.
A day quickly passed.
When Soren woke up the next day, he heard a commotion outside. Frowning, he went out and saw the Half-Elf First Mate before him.
Some of his subordinates had returned, but the Red-Haired Pirate Woman was still missing!
The Half-Elf First Mate brought back a significant number of personnel, followed by a row of pirate lackeys carrying a large number of boxes. There was also a group of slaves shackled and gathered together. Additionally, there was something that surprised Soren—a special cage containing a small figure, noticeably having a pair of cat ears and a tail.
“Beastman?!”
Soren exclaimed in surprise, murmuring, “Cat Girl? It seems like an almost extinct type of Beastman? Where did you find her?”
The Half-Elf First Mate slightly bowed and said, “My lord.”
“We received some unexpected news on our way back. Then we discovered that the people you needed were on another fleet, so we seized them back. This cat girl was an unexpected find, apparently brought back from the Eastern Kingdom. We plan to give her to the young lady as a toy; she also needs a maidservant.”
Upon hearing this, Soren frowned.
He glanced at the cat girl beside him and then shifted his gaze to the other pirates, mainly those slaves that had been brought over. As someone who has traveled much of the world as an Adventurer, Soren immediately noticed the clear Eastern racial traits on the slaves. Judging by their features, expressions, and hands, many among them were likely Eastern craftsmen.
Soren nodded slightly, “How’s the harvest?”
The Half-Elf First Mate hesitated for a moment and then quietly replied, “We captured a batch of slaves, seized three large ocean-going ships, and can quickly dispose of around 24,000 Gind. The other more difficult-to-sell valuable goods, such as porcelain, tea, and silk, are all stored in the warehouse on Snake Island. According to the steward below, all the goods along with those three ocean-going cargo ships should be worth around 120,000 Gind.”
Soren’s expression showed a hint of surprise, followed by a grave demeanor.
He was astonished by the returns from this heist; it seemed a bit too high. Soren placed his hands behind his back and paced a few circles. After a moment of contemplation, he raised his head and asked, “Is it the Pirate King Asrold’s goods?”
The Half-Elf First Mate broke out in a cold sweat and cautiously said, “Yes.”
“Who gave you the information?” Soren asked, slightly frowning.
The Half-Elf seemed to tremble and nervously replied, “It was a woman from the Amazons. They secretly informed me that the craftsmen you needed were on those ships.”
Soren closed his eyes and paused for a moment. He then reached out and patted the Half-Elf First Mate’s shoulder, saying solemnly, “Well done this time!”
“Though your actions were a bit reckless, bringing back such a profit deserves a reward. From now on, those three ocean-going cargo ships will belong to you, and I will allocate some personnel to you. Starting today, the trade between Taro Port and the Overseas Islands will be under your management.”
“Don’t let me down!”
The Half-Elf First Mate displayed a hint of excitement on his face; he knew he had made the right bet.
He had already been in charge of two warships, and now with three cargo ships added, his position and subordinates had completely surpassed the Red-Haired Pirate Woman. However, he hesitated for a moment and expressed his concerns, saying, “My lord, we robbed the Pirate King Asrold of his cargo ships; won’t they retaliate against us?”
Soren replied indifferently, “It’s possible!”
“However, when dealing with the Swamp King, he also seized the spoils that belonged to us on Demon Island. Sooner or later, we will settle that account with him. Right now, we are merely collecting some interest. Since you have stolen his goods, it’s likely they will retaliate against us. Everyone should be cautious and keep a low profile for a while.”
“When the time is right, we will annihilate them in one fell swoop!”
The Half-Elf First Mate nodded gravely, a glimmer of ambition and excitement in his eyes; if they could eliminate Pirate King Asrold, Soren would effectively dominate the Southern Coast, and his position would naturally rise, approaching a level just below the highest authority.
The personnel below quickly exited.
Soren sat at the table and pondered for a moment before summoning someone and giving a few orders.
The Half-Elf First Mate had returned, but Adele Isabella had not shown any signs, indicating that the issue with developing guano might not have gone smoothly. It might require Soren to take action personally, but he also needed to head to the Northern Region, where perhaps he could find a Wizard knowledgeable in Alchemy who could process guano into quality fertilizer.
Additionally.
This time, since his subordinates had robbed the Pirate King Asrold’s cargo ships, he feared he would not easily escape retribution. He suspected that Asrold might send assassins after him. Thus, Soren knew he had to prepare in advance.
It was likely that no one anticipated Soren would need to take precautions ahead of time due to his subordinates’ raid.
