Chapter 87: Divine War
Dragon Pact.
One of the most famous abilities to throw money around in the Multiverse!
Throughout history, many have gained this ability, possibly because summoning top-tier fighters is incredibly satisfying, with many going bankrupt as a result. In fact, the most powerful faction currently holding the highest “Dragon Pact,” which Soren mentioned, is the Dragon City, and they rarely use this ability.
The reason is simple.
Most dragons are one-way; they won’t spend money even if they earn it.
As a result, it’s easy to imagine that the more powerful the summoned dragon, the greater the required payment. Often, the dragons summoned come from other worlds, leaving immediately after receiving their rewards. The long-term financial drain is actually quite astonishing. This is equivalent to reducing the gold reserves of the Material Plane, and the only way to replenish them is to obtain it from other planes. This argument is extensively summarized in the Wizard Alliance’s “How Much Loss Has the Dragon Pact Really Cost Us?”
The departure of the Little Dragon left Soren feeling somewhat helpless, but the capriciousness of the Chaotic Faction is notorious.
Sometimes Soren even envied them.
But that was just envy; Soren could never act as recklessly as they do. He was someone who was accustomed to following his own rules.
The Mind Sorcerer still seemed to be asleep.
The power of divinity had not yet fully merged with her body, or rather, the fusion needed time, and deep down, she might still have some rejection of being controlled by Soren.
“The progress of divine fusion is very slow.”
Soren closed his eyes and could feel the divinity he granted transforming the woman before him. He could easily detect one thing: ordinary beings have almost no way to absorb divinity on their own. Whether it was the mutated orca granted by the divinity at the beginning or the woman before him, it seemed they all needed time for integration. It was at this moment that Soren realized how astonishing his own ability to fuse and absorb divinity was; it seemed he could complete the merging of both divinity and divine essence extremely quickly. However, even those who had slain gods needed a long time to integrate piece by piece.
This might be related to slaughter or could be for other reasons.
“Since she hasn’t awakened yet.”
Soren gazed at the Mind Sorcerer and gently removed the veil from her face. Her pale complexion was gradually recovering its rosy hue, and the contours of her face momentarily stunned him.
It wasn’t that the Mind Sorcerer was ugly; on the contrary, she was very charming.
But the important thing was not her beauty. Instead, her appearance reminded Soren of the Gisz. The contours of the Mind Sorcerer’s face had obvious Gisz characteristics. The Gisz are an Astral race, and their appearance is vastly different from humans. To describe them specifically, Gisz have somewhat “snake-like faces,” very pointed ears, and noticeable protrusions along their spines, among many other distinct features. Thus, just by removing her veil for a glance, Soren could confirm her Gisz ancestry.
“Huh?”
Soren’s expression suddenly became serious as he reached out and removed the woman’s robe, examining the area around her collarbone.
There was a dark blue, serpent-like mark there.
Soren’s hand reached out to explore her chest, and he then moved his fingers up her spine, feeling that her vertebrae were slightly more pronounced, about half a centimeter more than an ordinary person. This indicated that she was a half-breed of human and Gisz, with the majority being human and only a small portion being Gisz. Astral species are highly predatory and may capture humans as slaves. Thus, it’s not surprising that there might be a reason for the emergence of half-breeds.
Finally.
Soren rolled back her sleeve at the wrist, where three dark blue letters were branded on her fair skin.
——”MSS!”
The mark was faint, possibly having faded due to skin stretching. This suggested that the branding had been done long ago, likely during her childhood, and had gradually faded as her body grew. Soren slowly let the sleeve drop back down, regarding the Mind Sorcerer with a somewhat complex expression, murmuring, “A slave?”
The mark of a slave.
Soren could hardly imagine that such a powerful Spiritual Sorcerer once had the identity of a lowly slave.
For her, erasing such marks would be a matter of blinking, yet she chose to keep the brand of slavery on her body, likely harboring a legendary story behind it. Soren had not much goodwill towards the Gisz; this race had previously been enslaved by the Heartsnatcher Empire for an extended period, and even after breaking free, they had not improved much, instead becoming the most dangerous plunderers and bandits of the Astral. The Gisz capture other races as slaves, maintaining their brutal rule through militarized management.
It seemed that any race controlled by the Heartsnatchers would ultimately be ruined.
And most resulted in gaining psionic abilities.
The Gisz were like this, and so were the Grey Dwarves.
“Sigh.”
Soren raised his hand to gently stroke the Mind Sorcerer’s long hair, but suddenly felt something, and froze in place.
An injury.
An injury on her head.
Though not very obvious, Soren could feel it through her hair.
“Heartsnatcher?!”
Soren’s expression became extremely surprised, his face betraying disbelief as he murmured, “Could it be she was not just a slave of the Gisz?! Was it a Heartsnatcher that controlled her and left the slave mark?!”
Such an injury.
An injury that even after healing is somewhat startling. In Soren’s understanding, only one kind of monster would leave such a wound: the Heartsnatchers.
Because they feed on the brain matter of other beings!
She had been attacked by a Heartsnatcher.
Soren reached to the other side of the Mind Sorcerer’s face, touching a second similar wound. Now Soren could basically confirm it was the work of the Heartsnatchers. However, he found it hard to imagine that someone who had once been controlled by and attacked by a Heartsnatcher could remain unscathed, not turning into a fool or a madman, but rather becoming a legendary Mind Sorcerer with a profession level above thirty.
This was utterly astonishing!
Perhaps the woman before him had a legendary story that rivaled Soren’s own.
“Huh!”
Soren’s gaze was complex, laced with a hint of pity.
He rarely sympathized with others, but this woman before him evoked some sympathy in him, along with a touch of respect. It should be noted that adventurous individuals once challenged a Heartsnatcher’s lair, and upon failing, they preferred collective suicide rather than being consumed by the Heartsnatchers.
Surviving in such an environment and still reaching the pinnacle of the Legendary Domain.
Such a woman deserved Soren’s respect!
“Let’s leave here first.”
Soren sensed some kind of energy fluctuation. After advancing to the demigod realm, his sensitivity to energy had greatly enhanced. So after a brief moment of thought, he decided to take the Mind Sorcerer and leave. Soren raised his hand to help her put her disheveled robe back on, then he buttoned it at her chest, and immediately after, he wrapped the slender figure of the Mind Sorcerer in his arms and transformed into a fleeting shadow, heading towards the exit of the Underdark.
The Elemental Crystal “Legendary Third Tier” was already in hand.
The shard of divine essence had also been obtained.
Soren felt there was no longer a need to stay here, as the risks and rewards were completely disproportionate.
………………
Unknown region, demiplane.
The space here was trembling slightly. The edges of the demiplane had already shown signs of collapse, as if it were the realm of a void storm. The ground constituting the demiplane was gradually crumbling and falling, and the violent energy was destroying the structure of this demiplane world. Outside of the demiplane was a profound darkness, as if some terrible power had traversed space and locked this place down.
A small world. A big world.
The collision of energy created fissures in the space, and ultimately, a gash suddenly opened up in the sky of the demiplane, followed by the slow emergence of the Spider Queen’s figure.
“So it’s the Clockwork Nirvana Demiplane!”
The Spider Queen looked down at the world before her, with eight twisted, ugly spider legs protruding from her back. When unfurled, they resembled winglike structures. Her expression seemed a mix of amusement and surprise. Then she grinned malevolently, saying, “I thought all such demiplanes had disappeared. I didn’t expect one to still be hiding away!”
Demiplane.
One of the trademarks of archmages.
Everyone knows that the Floating City possesses formidable combat power, but many do not realize that another important structure of the Floating City is the demiplane.
The demiplane and the Floating City are one!
The Grand Archmages created their own Floating Cities and then re-expanded their own demiplanes based on those Floating Cities.
If not for that, they would have no qualification to challenge the loftily positioned gods!
“Let me end all of this!”
The Spider Queen laughed maniacally, raising her hand and sweeping it through the sky. Following that, a dark gash broke open in the sky of the demiplane, and in the next moment, a swarm of monsters surged forth, rushing into this demiplane like a tidal wave.
Spiderkin, demon spiders, wax fiends, corrupted drow, abyssal prayer weavers…
Endless monsters appeared from the dark rift, and the moment they emerged, they unleashed ruthless slaughter, frenziedly surging towards the ultimate Arcane Tower of the demiplane.
The Spider Queen’s servants.
Terrifying monsters from the divine kingdom of the “Demon Abyss”!
When the divine realm locked onto this demiplane, a teleportation passage spanning the planes was also formed by powerful divine power.
This is not the Material Plane.
The boundaries of the Material Plane cannot affect this place; deities can directly open a portal connecting to their divine kingdom in the outer space.
This is not an ordinary battle.
When the teleportation passage connecting the Abyssal divine realm “Demon Abyss” opens, it has already transformed into a “Divine War”!
