Chapter Eighty-Nine: Desire for Slaughter
The departure of the Little Dragon left Soren a bit lonely.
Having gradually gotten used to the Little Girl’s chatty nature, he suddenly felt that something was missing after she left.
The Mind Sorcerer still had not awakened.
However, her vitality was clearly recovering gradually. Soren’s divinity granted him the ability to counteract the Spider Queen’s curse. Even with the negative energy erosion, it was not enough to threaten her life.
Boom!
A violent tremor suddenly came from ahead.
They were now close to an exit of the Underdark. Soren’s primary goal of this journey had basically been achieved; he had obtained the divinity shard, and the elemental crystal had also been fused. It was unnecessary to remain here any longer. He had originally planned to leave the Underdark from here and return with the Mind Sorcerer to the Overseas Islands, intending to ask the Legendary Priest to cast [High-Level Restoration] for her. Since the Spider Queen had personally intervened, ordinary methods were practically useless; perhaps only the Legendary Priest could give it a try.
A priest of the Goddess of Wealth, the High Priest of the Ocean Temple.
Soren could definitely come up with a way after paying some price, especially since he had already invested so much in the woman in his arms.
Rumbling!
The violent tremor sounds came again.
Soren could now confirm that a battle was taking place ahead, and it was right on his path!
The battle occurred near the exit.
This was the only relatively close exit, and the fact that the battle was happening here made him anxious.
“Is it Drow? Or someone else?”
Soren found a secluded corner and placed the Mind Sorcerer down. If a fight broke out later, he wouldn’t be able to take care of her, so he had to settle her aside for now.
— “Sneak.”
Soren’s figure blended into the darkness, and then he gradually made his way toward the location of the battle.
The scent of blood.
A strong smell of blood.
Before even getting close to the battlefield, Soren could already easily smell the blood, a scent that felt somewhat familiar. It even awakened a certain desire for slaughter in his heart.
An existence he desperately wanted to kill!
— “Vampire God – Reinhardt!”
Vivian’s greatest threat.
An existence that had always felt like a thorn in his throat; the Vampire Son was like a sword hanging over their heads at all times; he was one of the few people Soren had dreamed of killing!
If he did not kill him,
Vivian would be in danger!
But Soren was not a reckless person. He knew very well that he was no match for the Vampire Son. Even with Gloria and Vivian together, they might not be able to defeat him.
Because saints naturally transcend mortals!
Even though Soren had advanced into the demigod realm, he was still a distance away from the saint form.
There was a dispersing energy in the air.
The scent of blood, dark aura, elemental fluctuations, divine technique brilliance, and a sense of discomfort in Soren’s heart that he was wary of, yet somewhat familiar.
A terrifying power!
It did not come from an individual; the demigod’s sensing felt almost like a sixth sense leading Soren to believe it came from some object.
Sixth sense!
It seemed that after entering the demigod realm, the sixth sense had been increasingly strengthened.
Bang!
The sound of flesh crashing against the wall and a sound like a magical flute reaching his ears; the moment he heard it, a glimmer of despair arose in Soren’s heart, even giving him a feeling so desperate it bordered on suicidal. But this feeling was only a moment’s flash. Then Soren completely recovered, fully immune to the flute’s effects.
The Magic Flute!
There was a Legendary Bard here!
It appeared to be a Bard from the Fallen Faction, as normal Bards should uplift morale with heroic melodies.
“Indeed, it’s him!!!”
A flash of brilliance suddenly burst from Soren’s eyes, and then a surge of mad killing intent welled up in his heart.
The Vampire Son – Reinhardt!
Soren’s instincts were not wrong. This scent of blood truly came from his greatest threat—the Vampire God!
However,
The slaughtering desire in his heart did not lead Soren to act impulsively; instead, he took a small step back, further blending into the shadows to lurk.
He also saw another person!
A very powerful Bard. Soren had never seen a Bard who could simultaneously wield a longsword while playing a legendary battle song and confront two Paladins. This was simply something he had never heard of. Soren did not even know if the “Combat Performance” specialty existed, or if it required “Combat Spellcasting” and “Mobile Spellcasting” to support it. This Bard completely overturned Soren’s past impressions; his close combat skills were enough to make many high-level Wanderers feel ashamed.
What kind of monster is this?!
Isn’t the Bard a versatile class? When did it become so abnormal?
Could he be the legendary Hell Poet?
“Paladins?!”
“It’s them! How did they end up here?!”
Soren’s gaze turned to the other side, where the Paladins before him caused him to show surprise, as some of them were the ones he had previously encountered near the desert.
Warden!
Holy Avengers’ Paladins.
Soren had once traded with them about the location of the artifact fragment “Eye of Tyr,” and they had clearly expressed that they would spare no cost to retrieve the repair piece of the Holy Avenger.
However,
Soren had not expected to see them here.
But thinking of the time, from the moment Soren told them the location to now, these Paladins should have long been in the Underdark.
So they should have obtained the “Eye of Tyr” and were preparing to leave back to the surface world?
And why was the Vampire Son here!?
Did they happen to run into each other?
Soren’s mind was filled with many doubts, but he couldn’t guess the answers; everything could be a coincidence. If he hadn’t informed the Paladins that the artifact fragment was here, they probably wouldn’t have come to the Underdark for no reason, right?
“Maybe this is an opportunity!”
A glint of killing intent appeared in Soren’s pupils as he quietly moved along the edge of the battlefield.
The battle continued.
The Vampire Son and the Hell Poet clearly had the upper hand; both were high-level legends, and one was even a god in saint form. If it were an ordinary legendary profession, they would likely have been eliminated by now. However, they faced Paladins whose constraints against the Evil Faction were significantly apparent, and there was also a very powerful cleric.
The most crucial point was!
Neither the Vampire Son nor the Hell Poet seemed to want to confront something; they appeared hesitant in battle, as if afraid of the weapons on one of the persons.
Even though that weapon had not yet been drawn.
“Could it be!!!…”
Soren seemed to recall something, revealing a hint of surprise on his face!
What kind of weapon could make a god incarnate in saintly form feel apprehensive?
In his memory, there seemed to be only a few. And the one among these Paladins likely carried the most famous one!
— “Holy Avenger” – Casomir +5!
As if having made a certain resolution.
Soren took a small step back, and then a peculiar ring appeared in his palm.
Lich’s Ring +5!
This powerful fifth-tier legendary equipment had not been used by Soren since the moment he obtained it.
The reason was simple.
Because this legendary equipment was cursed; wearing it would reduce two points of Constitution, and one could not remove it without first eliminating the curse effect. Putting it on meant a reduction of 1 point of life per profession level. The decrease in Constitution would directly affect the profession level, causing Soren to lose more than twenty points of life. Unless one was an undead life form, others would have absolutely no way to resist the curse effect of Lich’s Ring +5.
This equipment was a double-edged sword!
Soren would not wear it without necessity.
Elemental crystal.
Soren entered a state of full preparation for battle; he not only donned the cursed Lich’s Ring +5, but also took out the fused elemental crystal.
“Item Type: Elemental Crystal [Fused].
Item Level: [Third Tier Legendary Item]
Item Description: A special treasure from the Elemental Plane, transformed into a complete piece after fusion of earth, water, wind, and fire. It possesses powerful magical energy and can activate its power to cast various spells or summon elemental life to fight. This elemental crystal appears to have some special marks after fusion. It might have some unknown origin.
Equipment Requirement: None.
Special Effects: Elemental Legion (1 time/3 days), Stone Skin Spell (3 times/1 day), Ice Storm (3 times/1 day), Fireball Spell (3 times/1 day), Lightning Spell (3 times/1 day).”
………………
The fused elemental crystal was quite different.
The enhancement in activated spells was not significant, limited to Stone Skin Spell, Ice Storm, Fireball Spell, and Lightning Spell. Although the number of uses per day had increased, they were all relatively lower-level spells.
The most crucial change lay in the Elemental Legion, because this was a legendary-level spell.
“Elemental Legion [Legendary Spell]: Activate the power of the elemental crystal, summoning a group of giant fire elementals, giant earth elementals, giant water elementals, and giant wind elementals with biological levels above 16 and base life numbers above 12. The number summoned is 2-6. There is a chance to summon legendary-level elemental elders.”
This was the most powerful ability!
Having this meant he could carry an elemental legion with him, instantly swarming enemies with a group when needed.
Wanderers were particularly afraid of being encircled.
Since they couldn’t withstand attacks that well, Soren very much needed this kind of meat shield capable of absorbing firepower.
………………
The battle continued.
Soren began to enhance himself with spells while gradually closing in on the battlefield.
Lich’s Ring, elemental crystal, and the Slayer transformation.
Soren no longer had any thoughts of holding back. What he wanted to do most now was to behead the Vampire Son.
That way, Vivian would be safe!……(To be continued ~^~)
