Boom!
The entire ground trembled violently.
Soren, in the form of Balroth Fire Demon, struck the portal, causing cracks to appear on its surface, and the radiant light gathering above quickly dissipated, resulting in damage to the portal.
But that wasn’t enough!
Soren gripped the giant beheading sword tightly with both hands and swung it in a 360-degree rotation, slashing down forcefully.
——”Spiral Slash!”
——”Super Strong Mighty Attack!”
With a fierce charged slash, Soren directly severed the enormous skeletal portal in front of him. The sound of rumbling collapse echoed as the portal began to crumble rapidly.
——”High-level Teleportation Spell!”
Having succeeded, Soren didn’t hesitate for a moment and immediately used the high-level teleportation spell to leave.
This was the stronghold of the undead, and if he were stopped, there was no guarantee he could escape. As Soren’s massive body departed, an angry roar suddenly came from the distant fortress, followed by the swift appearance of Doreisen, the King of Ghouls.
Everything around was engulfed in fierce flames.
Even in the cold climate, Soren’s flames were ferociously uncontrollable and impossible to extinguish.
The King of Ghouls, Doreisen, had pupils that shone with pale green light. He wore a luxurious robe and leather armor, crowned with a bone crown and wielding a spine-shaped staff known as the Hunger’s Fang. The top of the staff featured a skull, signifying reverence to Orcus.
Doreisen, plagued by an endless hunger, had a great affinity for all creatures that possessed an insatiable thirst. He appeared as an extremely emaciated and filthy ghoul, his eyes glittering with intense ghoul-like green light, and his feet resembled those of a demon. In sharp contrast to his dirty exterior was an elegant robe made of human skin, beneath which was pale leather armor embedded with many tiny skulls.
Ghouls were Doreisen’s primary followers, and his holy symbol was a ghoul’s skull.
This was a powerful enemy.
The King of Ghouls, Doreisen, possessed powers nearing that of a true god, attaining the level of weak divine power during his peak, and now likely exceeded weak divine power.
His divine professions were [Ghoul] and [Necromancy], with domains encompassing [Chaos], [Evil], [Hunger], [Illusions], and [Trickery]. Due to the nature of the ghoul race, he existed as both a deity and a demon lord, but since his divinity was not pure and the ghoul race lacked much wisdom, Doreisen was not severely impacted by the Saint’s Cataclysm like other deities. He was essentially still a demon lord, and compared to true gods, his existence was at best that of a demigod, with almost no church and a doctrine purely revolving around devouring to satisfy his endless hunger.
“Damn Balroth Fire Demon!”
The King of Ghouls, Doreisen, did not get a clear view of Soren, only feeling the lingering aura of the Balroth Fire Demon.
He roared in anger, striking the ground with his staff: “You bunch of useless fools! Letting a Balroth Fire Demon destroy my master’s important portal!”
Without a portal.
No one could easily leave the depths of the Bottomless Abyss, as the River of Underworld was a place even demons could easily cross, and the evil spirits’ ships could not transport such a large army.
………………
Layer 113 of the Bottomless Abyss. The Border.
After confirming that the King of Ghouls, Doreisen, did not pursue him, Soren calmly returned to his territory.
This is the downside of demons.
They are chaotic and difficult to command. If the King of Ghouls pursued him, it was likely that the first time the undead and demons would erupt in internal conflict. There were few intelligent high-level undead, and those demons with brains were also scarce. In their chaotic nature, even the slightest clash could lead to a massive brawl.
Anyway, there’s no harm in fighting; perhaps he could even level up!
That’s how demons are.
They thirst for soul power immensely, and even by killing undead and devouring their power, they could automatically advance.
The rules of the Bottomless Abyss are incredibly chaotic, and blood wars can provide the highest level of experience rewards. However, even outside of blood wars, demons can still level up through killing.
“It seems the Southern Coast needs to prepare.”
Although he destroyed Orcus’s portal, the undead army that had already reached the Ten Thousand Abyss Plains was still vast. If they launched an attack, it would mean humanity would face a terrifying army of hundreds of thousands. Such a force could not be withstood by any single nation, as the undead of the Bottomless Abyss generally had a higher challenge difficulty. Even the corrupted corpses were tainted by the evil aura of the abyss, typically having two or three biological levels. This meant that ordinary town soldiers, even when well-equipped, could at most contend with one or two low-level undead, making it nearly impossible to resist those powerful beings.
Modo.
The information relayed back from the Bottomless Abyss made Soren’s heart sink.
The area of the Southern Coast was simply too large; even if he sent out all his forces, he could not defend it completely. Such a massive undead army could only be engaged at a single point; otherwise, they would quickly overwhelm him.
“It seems I must request aid from Arendelle.”
Now, Soren had a close relationship with the Frozen Kingdom, and the princess had increasingly friendly attitudes towards him.
Such a major issue could not be handled alone!
If something went wrong, it would be a complete collapse, so Soren decisively decided to seek aid from Arendelle, requesting not only the assistance of the Ice Snow Witch Group but also the princess’s support.
Communication with deities is simple.
As soon as Soren’s message reached Arendelle explaining the situation, the princess immediately expressed her understanding and agreement.
“How about this?”
The princess’s voice directly resonated in Soren’s mind through the temple, slowly saying: “Tomorrow, a group of Ice Snow Witches will teleport to Modo. I will dispatch a team of court mages to assist.”
“If there are any abnormal situations, I will also directly descend upon Modo.”
There was a portal between Arendelle and Modo, and due to the large amount of power consumed, it only teleported important individuals.
There were only five such portals, located in Arendelle, Northern Tower, Spearwind Hills, City of Wealth, and Taro Port.
If, in the future, they could harness the power of the mystic core, the number of portals could likely increase. However, relying solely on portals was impossible, as not even during the period of the Arcane Empire could that be achieved, unless there was a source of infinite and tremendously vast energy. If such energy truly existed, it would be enough to propel civilization beyond interstellar levels.
“Order the whole city to prepare for defense!”
Soren thought for a moment and issued the command: “Let the entire Southern region enter a level one alert state, recall all patrol fleets, position the legions near the city, and activate the instant communicator. If any large-scale anomalies occur, immediately inform Modo through the witch.”
The threat came from the undead.
Thus, there was no need for the naval fleet—return them all to defend the city; the undead’s attack shouldn’t keep him waiting too long.
