Chapter 83: Blood War Salvation! [Third Update]
January 11, 2018
Author: Asmothiels
In the first layer of the Hell of Bartok,
It is unclear when the mist enveloped this layer, but the demons’ assault began two days ago and has not ceased since.
Outside the Bronze Fortress, the corpses of demons have piled into mountains, with hundreds of thousands of demons filling defensive structures with their bodies. The devils urgently dispatched reinforcements from the rear, but faced with an army of over three million demons, which continues to grow, they still appeared powerless. Only the Blood War Legion, engaged in battle on the Material Plane, could hinder them. However, as the Saint’s Cataclysm weakened, the gods led by the Lord of Radiance seemed to become aware of Soren’s clandestine activities. The angels summoned from the Gate of Holy Light were desperately holding back the main forces of the devils, while reinforcements from the Elven Clan of Ais appeared on the Material Plane.
Now, the devils, caught between a rock and a hard place, are under immense pressure.
“Attack!”
“Let the Six-armed Serpent Demons charge again!”
More than a dozen Lesser Demon Lords commanded assaults from eight directions. Although there were tremendous casualties, the enemies at the Bronze Fortress were diminishing.
The entire battle was devoid of any tactics.
One low-level demon was exchanged for ten low-level demons, and one high-level demon for ten high-level demons.
Even though the corpses of over ten Balroth Fire Demons were already hanging from the top of the Bronze Fortress, the demons’ assaults showed no signs of slowing down. They attacked frantically and tirelessly, as if no amount of death could deter them. The reinforcements that reached the Hell of Bartok were already the third batch; on the small piece of land that is the Bronze Fortress, nearly a million demons have died. However, the devils’ resistance is weakening, facing demons with a significant disadvantage: the sheer number of demons always far exceeds that of the devils.
Rumbling!
A dull sound echoed through the air.
After three days of relentless attacks by the demons, a section of the wall at the Bronze Fortress finally collapsed.
This wall, forged entirely of steel, could no longer withstand the demons’ assault, and a massive crack appeared along the entire defense line. Thousands of mid- and high-rank demons became excited, even the Lesser Demon Lords eagerly rushed forward. As long as there was a single crack in the devils’ defenses, the demons would seize their opportunity.
The Six-armed Serpent Demon swung its longsword and charged rapidly.
The Balroth Fire Demon laughed wildly as it soared into the air.
The assassin demon’s figure slipped into the darkness.
The Soul Judge led his army coldly as they approached.
This crack was quickly widened by the demons, leading to fierce urban combat.
The battle continued into the night; after suffering several times the casualties, the demons finally overran the last palace and took control of the Bronze Fortress that belonged to Baier.
The earth-shattering cheers erupted.
Even the frenzied demons howled to the sky; for nearly a thousand years, they have been oppressed and beaten by the devils on the Ten Thousand Abyss Plains. Now, they not only turned the tide in the Hell of Bartok, but also captured the strategic Bronze Fortress.
“Topple the Skull Pillar!”
“Topple the Skull Pillar!”
“Topple the Skull Pillar!”
A roar from the demons arose.
Soon this voice spread far and wide, with countless demons responding with roars.
It was a towering two-mile-high tower of bones, containing countless demon skulls—trophies of the devils and a pillar of shame for the demons.
Now,
They could finally wash away their shame by toppling this Skull Pillar!
Hundreds of thousands of demons gathered beneath the Skull Pillar, and under the command of three Lesser Demon Lords, they began to destroy this ancient tower of bones.
Since the Blood War broke out,
This Skull Pillar has existed, and now the demons could finally destroy it.
………………
Material Plane.
In just one day, the Demon Legion retreated hundreds of kilometers, and many places had been completely abandoned.
They harvested a large number of souls; although the war lasted a short time, the devils made enormous gains because the Material Plane had always been the most densely populated world. The Blood War Legion was quickly moving to the rear, seeming to indicate that the Lord of Hell chose to retreat to the Hell of Bartok rather than confront the gods head-on on the Material Plane.
The devils achieved a great victory!
They did not care whether they captured the Material Plane; they only cared about how many benefits they gained from this operation.
Undoubtedly,
The devils became the biggest winners in the Saint’s Cataclysm. They first plundered the Underworld, then the Material Plane.
As for the ambition of the Lord of Hell—Asmothiels, neither the lower-tier devils nor other Demon Lords believed that directly confronting the gods was a wise choice. Although winning could lead to dominating the Multiverse, the cost of losing would be terrifying!
The Demon Lords did not believe there was much chance of victory.
The gods were simply afraid of death.
If the Lord of Hell threatened their very foundations, even if there was a possibility of fall, the gods would take the field themselves.
Countless devils returned laden with spoils; no world had as many intelligent beings as the Material Plane, nor did any realm possess as rich a variety of souls. They now only wished to return to the Hell of Bartok with their loot and drive the abominable demons back to the Bottomless Abyss.
The portals opened one after another.
The main forces of the Blood War, fresh from the Abyssal Blood War, began to teleport to the Hell of Bartok. Though they fought in the Material Plane for so long, their losses remained minimal.
Even the low- and mid-tier cannon fodder were enough to keep the mortals of the Material Plane occupied for a long time!
If not for the Lord of Radiance calling forth the Elven Clan of Ais, it is very possible that these Blood War Legions would have captured the Material Plane.
………………
Underworld.
Just as the Devil Army was looting the Material Plane and preparing to return to the Hell of Bartok to confront the demon army, Soren also arrived at the deepest part of the Underworld.
He went to visit the ancient God of Death, Naraku.
No one knows what the two new and old gods of death discussed, only that before Soren left, he entered the depths of the Undersea, after which a massive whirlpool formed within the entire Undersea.
The God of Death System is the oldest and most powerful pantheon!
Since the birth of life, the God of Death System has never been weaker than any other pantheon!
Throughout the long years,
Although the Soul Thief has always existed, such blatant plundering of the Underworld has never happened until now.
Whoever it is!
No matter how strong the enemy is!
They must pay a price! Otherwise, the God of Death System would become a joke!
This is something Soren must do.
As the new Lord of Death, he had to uphold the dignity of the God of Death System and ensure that the devils paid a heavy price.
The Blood War Salvation has been completed.
Due to the sword of the demons, the devils had to withdraw from the Material Plane. But Soren’s work is not finished; he still has a serious account to settle with the devils.
