The fierce sword light seemed to shatter everything!

Ward’s figure leapt out like a lone wolf, charging alone towards over a hundred enemies. From afar came the sailors’ gasps, but then it abruptly stopped as if someone had choked them!

Two burly men lunged at Ward, but just in the brief moment of their crossing, two flashes of blood suddenly appeared, followed by the dull sound of bodies hitting the ground. The fierce and burly thugs clutched their neck wounds and gurgled blood out; the speed of Ward’s sword draw was so fast that they could barely discern his movement.

“Zii!”

Not far away, the ship’s captain inhaled sharply, muttering, “That son of a bitch Ward is actually this powerful?”

At that moment, Blood Shark felt a bit anxious.

Because he too couldn’t see Ward’s move in an instant. As a veteran who mingled in the gray zones, he clearly understood he was up against something tough; this was not the power of a normal sailor.

“Stop him!”

Blood Shark quickly retreated and then turned with a sneer towards his subordinates behind him, saying, “Arrows ready! We’ve encountered tough opponents!”

A master.

At this moment, even an idiot would know that Ward was indeed a very formidable warrior; he had taken down five or six thugs as effortlessly as chopping vegetables. Such strength was something Blood Shark knew he could not match. However, there were methods to deal with masters, and those who navigated the gray areas had their own tricks. Soon, some thugs retreated to the rear, pulling out canvas bags, and then set up crossbows that were deemed contraband in Arendelle. Faced with a dozen elite crossbowmen, let alone a master, even first-rate warriors could potentially face disaster.

“Be careful!”

The ship’s captain exclaimed in alarm, finally gritting his teeth and saying, “Attack! Regardless, Ward is one of us! It’s not up to these rats to dictate to us!”

Sailing is a dangerous affair.

These sailors, who roamed the most perilous trade routes year-round, were equally unruly. Their forbearance was just to make a living, but if others dared to flip the table, they wouldn’t hesitate to draw their blades. Basically, every city’s dock was controlled by rats, and merchant sailors were necessarily exploited by these local bullies. It wasn’t that they couldn’t beat them; more often than not, it’s that a strong dragon doesn’t suppress a local snake. They tolerated some conduct, but if the rats went too far, these fierce sailors weren’t afraid to confront them head-on.

Ward, drawn and ready with his sword, was like a fierce lone wolf.

He leaped into the pack of dozens of rats, and with the sharp sword light, one enemy after another fell clutching their wounds.

Violent, lethal, frenzied, bloodthirsty, terrifying…

Ward’s eyes had gone red without him noticing, resembling a demon eager to devour, and just a glance sent many rats into a state of trembling fear.

Swish!

The sharp sound of air being cut pierced through, and Ward grabbed a rat to use as a shield, but with blood splattering, one crossbow bolt hit his shoulder.

A woman’s scream followed.

But Ward didn’t look back; he simply discarded the corpse full of crossbow bolts and with a somewhat grim smile pulled the bolt from his shoulder. He tore away his tattered shirt, revealing grotesque and horrific scars, with a terrible thirty-centimeter-long wound on his chest – it was unclear what beast had left it. Countless dense wounds covered Ward’s body, many of which would have been absolutely fatal to another person, yet he was alive and well.

“Drink!”

Ward took a deep breath, and suddenly his muscles swelled at a visible rate.

Crackling explosions sounded.

Ward’s figure rapidly grew larger, and in the blink of an eye, he became a small giant over two meters tall.

Zii!

A sound of gasping echoed as Blood Shark’s voice, frantic, yelled, “Shoot! Kill him! Damn it! He’s a berserker!”

— “Frenzy!”

Ward grinned ferociously; the slaughter eased the shackles in his heart and unleashed his bloodthirsty desire. Facing the incoming bolts, he merely protected his vital head area and charged directly at Blood Shark.

Thud thud.

Crossbow bolts struck Ward, but all the arrows got stuck in his muscles. At this moment, he was pierced by over a dozen crossbow bolts, blood gushing everywhere, yet his momentum grew ever more terrifying, his speed showed no signs of slowing; instead, his offense turned ever more brutal and ferocious.

Roar!

Ward lunged forward, grabbing a rat and tearing it in half casually. With a single swing of his long sword, he bisected an enemy at the waist. The not-so-sturdy long sword quickly appeared with fractured gaps; he didn’t care and threw it aside, then picked up a heavy one-handed axe.

The fear of death enveloped Blood Shark.

These rats, who had grown up mingling in the gray areas, turned pale as they saw Ward in a berserk state. Blood Shark ran madly backward, desperately commanding his subordinates to shoot arrows. However, Ward charged forward like a madman, lifting his 300-pound body as if he were picking up a chick.

The blood-red pupils fixated on Blood Shark sent chills through him, leaving his limbs numb and weak.

Just when he thought he would certainly die today, the sound of hurried footsteps emerged, followed by a squad of Arendelle’s soldiers surrounding them. Then, a burly man resembling an officer appeared, shouting, “Everyone, stop!”

“Otherwise, I’ll execute you all on the spot for treason!”

The commotion finally alerted Arendelle’s army. It wasn’t merely dead bodies; even crossbows were used. This situation was beyond what ordinary soldiers could suppress.

There was hope.

Blood Shark spotted the garrison officer who he revered every month; though he was not the lead officer, this situation was his only chance for survival. He struggled violently, shouting, “Lord Kelneth! It’s me! Save me!”

Kelneth instantly heard Blood Shark’s voice.

Though he despised this arrogant guy, the monthly generous tribute made it necessary to think of a way to save him.

“Let him go!”

The port area’s garrison officer snapped, pressing his hand on the hilt of his sword, and said in a deep voice, “Sailors! I command you to let him go and submit immediately! Otherwise, all of you will face imprisonment!”

As soon as he finished speaking,

A nearby officer shouted angrily, “Shut up, you fool!”

This remark was directed at Kelneth. Although the other was an army officer, he was also a garrison officer of the port area. This time, he had requested the army’s intervention due to the large number of offenders, but in terms of rank, Kelneth held a higher position. Thus, Kelneth immediately expressed his dissatisfaction towards the other, saying, “Kelsvor! This area is under my jurisdiction! Mind your words and actions; otherwise, I will report you to your superior.”

The burly officer named Kelsvor shot him a cold glance.

Then he disdainfully spat, his expression excited as he walked towards the berserk Ward. When he was about ten meters away, he suddenly stood at attention to salute, then seriously said, “Twenty-seventh Legion of the Northern Lands, Highland Death Squad, thirty-fifth team, Sergeant Kelsvor greets Captain Ward!”

Saying this, the excited burly officer solemnly donned a dark red metal insignia on himself.

“You know me?” Ward’s blood-red eyes turned toward him, and he seemed to regain some of his rationale, casually tossing the limp Blood Shark to the ground.

Silence enveloped the surroundings.

Only low murmurs of shock escaped from the army side, as if they knew something.

Kelsvor’s expression was exuberant, and he said in a deep voice, “Desolate Gobi Battle, the counter-offensive against the Demon Legion’s Fifth Blood War Corps, the Highland Death Squad of the twenty-seventh Legion of the Northern Lands also participated in the battle. Lord Ward, when you slayed the Hell Alchemist, I was nearby. However, you probably didn’t notice me.”

Counter-offensive against the Demon Legion?

Blood War Corps?

Hell Alchemist?

Every word from the burly officer drew gasps from those around, and after hearing what he said, the sailors nearby were already stunned, with the ship’s captain dropping even his curved blade to the ground with a clatter.

At this moment, Kelneth was even more frozen.

He suddenly realized that this matter had become problematic; the rough-looking sailor before him was actually the captain who participated in the battle against the Demon Legion. If this situation wasn’t handled properly, many nobles in Arendelle would face misfortune. After the blood war against the demon ended, many veterans and adventurers chose to abandon their military posts to return to mundane lives, but unexpectedly, this sailor before him was one of them. A captain who participated in the counter-offensive against the demons and who had killed the Hell Alchemist was qualified to be received by the Queen of Arendelle and serve as a lord of a city.

He actually went to become a down-and-out sailor; had this guy gone mad?

Kelneth’s eyes rolled as he spoke in exasperation, “Get someone! Quickly arrest all these damned rats! I want to personally hang these bastards! They dare to assault the hero who fought back against the demons to defend the world!”
