Five Hundred and Ninety-Nine Stealth Attacks
In the outskirts of Prit, within the Devenhill family mausoleum, inside the underground Glory Hall.
In the cold and dark underground tomb, inside the pitch-black stone coffin, Misha, dressed in tight-fitting black clothing, lay hidden, her brows furrowed as she anxiously asked herself internally:
“What’s happening outside? What’s going on?”
“It seems our old friends have arrived. Although we expected it, I didn’t think they would actually show up…” Dorothy responded from her hidden spot far away. Upon hearing Dorothy’s words, Misha was momentarily stunned before responding.
“Old friends… Could it be that group of spider lords?”
“It can only be them… But the way that guy entered is a bit strange; we can’t confirm it directly. Anyway, don’t reveal yourself just yet. After I make you intangible again, come out…” Dorothy continued instructing Misha, who nodded silently in the stone coffin.
Then, while handling Misha’s situation, Dorothy continued observing the underground tomb with the miniature zombie puppet. She saw the figure, which had entered in an eerie shadow form, now examining the inscriptions on the stone coffins one by one. The person, clad in a black cloak, scrutinized each coffin lid, recognizing the contents. After inspecting several coffins, he stopped at one.
On this particular stone coffin, ancient Prit script was written, containing the epitaph and the name of the coffin’s owner.
“Amper Devenhill.
“Regardless of how distracting the rumors may be, my loyalty remains eternal, for the land of the Wind King.”
Seeing the inscription on the stone coffin, the figure in the black cloak couldn’t help but pause slightly, then confirmed his target after another careful look. He placed his hand on the thick lid of the stone coffin and slowly pushed it.
With a dull hum, the heavy stone lid was gradually moved aside, creating a large gap. Seeing this, the black-clothed person immediately stopped and reached into the opening to feel the remains inside.
Due to the age, most of the items inside the stone coffin had long decayed. Amidst the ruins, something caught the black-clothed person’s eye immediately. He reached in and retrieved a small silver pendant.
Upon touching the silver pendant, the black-clothed person examined it closely, then placed it on himself before preparing to leave. At that moment, a faint sound came from behind him. The black-clothed person quickly drew his sword from his waist and turned to slash. A sharp clashing sound echoed through the dim underground tomb as his sword met another.
“Clang!”
In the clear ringing sound, the black-clothed person focused ahead and saw a masked figure dressed entirely in black, just like him, standing in front of him. Amber eyes glinted under the mask, and the sword held by the masked figure was blocked in front of him. Both swords had developed tiny cracks from the impact.
This second black-clothed attacker was Misha. Seeing this unexpected guest find something so quickly from Amper’s coffin, she could no longer wait and immediately launched a secret attack, though her attempt was barely defended. This made Misha frown.
“This guy… reaction speed is incredible…”
Just as Misha sensed something unusual about the person, the black-clothed person moved again. With a firm grip on his sword hilt, Misha immediately felt immense pressure closing in. The black-clothed person pressed his sword against hers, overpowering her completely. Even after using bl**d-eating to enhance her strength, Misha couldn’t match him.
At that moment, a mysterious force flowed through spiritual threads from afar, reaching Misha’s body. It then transferred through her sword to the black-clothed person’s sword. In that instant, the black-clothed person felt a tingling sensation in his hands, causing him to lose his grip momentarily. Misha took advantage of this, twisting her sword to guide his strike away from her. The black-clothed person missed and left an opening, which Misha exploited by stabbing him. He narrowly dodged, but a wound appeared on his side, bleeding.
This support effect was generated by Dorothy using her spiritual threads to transmit an electric state to Misha. Although the Devenhill Glory Hall used less cryogenic stone than the Rahmann Royal Tomb, it still provided some suppression of extraordinary effects. However, it mainly hindered illusions rather than significantly weakening the power of spiritual threads. Dorothy’s spiritual threads were somewhat weakened but still effective.
The black-clothed person, having been attacked and injured, quickly adjusted himself. As Misha prepared to pursue, he retreated and gripped his sword tightly, attacking her again. Misha also held her sword and engaged him once more.
For a moment, the narrow, dim tomb was filled with swift shadows and flashing swords. The two figures clashed with intense precision in the limited space, leaving numerous sword marks on the ancient stone coffins and walls. In mere moments, Misha and the black-clothed person had exchanged blows over ten times.
Clearly, Misha and the black-clothed person were both at the third tier “Shadow” level, possessing similar speed and agility. However, the black-clothed person was much stronger, likely at the second tier “Cup” level. Normally, Misha would struggle against a first-tier “Cup,” but with Dorothy’s electrical state support, every clash caused the black-clothed person’s weapon to conduct electricity, temporarily numbing his hands and preventing full strength. Thus, their short-range combat remained evenly matched, though not for long.
“Clang!”
With a clear metallic clash, the black-clothed person’s weapon broke into fragments, while Misha’s sword, though cracked, remained intact.
Misha and the black-clothed person were both extraordinary beings at the third tier “Shadow” level, capable of enchanting their weapons to enhance their sharpness and erode armor. Their white-blade combat tested the durability of their weapons. If neither weapon had special abilities, their damage would be comparable.
Though both were formidable “Shadow” users, Misha’s auxiliary spirituality “Stone” enhanced her sword’s resilience, making it more durable in battle. Her sword, doubly enchanted with “Shadow” and “Stone,” was more resilient than the black-clothed person’s single “Shadow” enchanted sword. His initial strength advantage was suppressed by Dorothy’s electrical state, putting him at a disadvantage.
Misha had “Shadow” and “Stone” enchantments, but the “Cup” was the hardest to enchant onto weapons due to the inherent properties of metal being “Stone.” The black-clothed person’s sword shattered, leaving him weaponless. Misha seized the opportunity and stabbed at him. He dodged, trying to hypnotize her instantly, but Misha anticipated this and kept her focus on his movements, denying him the chance to meet her gaze. Dorothy’s miniature zombie puppet provided additional vision, covering blind spots.
Facing a weaponless opponent, Misha aggressively attacked, forcing him back. Seeing no escape, the black-clothed person transformed into a swarm of bats and fled. Misha waited for this moment.
Seeing this, Misha gathered her strength and unleashed a powerful slash, sending a dozen tiny wind blades towards the bats. A large number of bats exploded into bl**d mist in mid-air. Misha nearly eliminated half of them with one strike, a technique learned from fighting vampires. She reserved her wind skills for when vampires turned into bats. Just after transformation, the bats were densest, and her attack could wipe them out.
After eliminating nearly half the bats, the remaining ones scattered rapidly. Misha pursued with wind blades but hit only a few. Most regrouped far away, reassembling into the black-clothed person, who now had severe wounds but managed to create distance between them. He clutched his chest, seemingly recovering from the sudden injuries.
“Creating distance? I’m not worried.”
Seeing the black-clothed person reappear, Misha didn’t hesitate and released several wind blades, hiding them in the air to strike him down.
However, an odd scene unfolded. The black-clothed person, facing the invisible wind blades, raised his trembling arm to block the incoming attack. Another powerful gust emerged from his body.
Amidst the wind, the strong gust he blew collided with Misha’s wind blades, deflecting them and hitting the wall behind him, leaving sharp marks. One blade grazed his arm, tearing his clothes, but did not draw bl**d. His skin seemed impenetrable to such minor cuts.
“What… That’s wind? How is that possible? He’s not an Eight-pointed vampire, right?!”
Seeing this, Misha widened her eyes in disbelief. The ability he used was familiar—it was her own “Storm Path” ability!
“Could it be…?”
Watching the latest battle in the underground tomb from afar, Dorothy couldn’t help but gasp. For the first time, she saw someone else using dual pathway abilities besides herself. Without any sign of undead powers, how was this dual pathway ability possible?
As Dorothy pondered the possibilities, the black-clothed person acted again. Raising his hand, he summoned even stronger gusts aimed at Misha, ready to finish her off.
