### Chapter 17: Xia Ling
“Why, oh why~”
Xia Yu was still a bit confused, poking at a question that seemed to bounce around in her head like a ping-pong ball. Ever since she came back, she couldn’t tell if she was getting dumber or if her little sister had suddenly leveled up in brains. Why was Xia Ling always spouting nonsensical stuff that left her scratching her head?
Well, Xia Ling felt a tad disappointed with Xia Yu’s cluelessness. She had made her hints pretty clear, so why was Xia Yu acting like a lost puppy?
“Because, like me, you’re a girl! Girls shouldn’t have short hair, it’s just not cute!” Xia Ling blurted out, confident that this time Xia Yu would get it.
Sure enough, the moment Xia Yu heard this, her face scrunched up in annoyance. She whipped her head around to glare at Xia Ling, puffing up defiantly, “I’m not a girl, I’m a boy~!”
Xia Ling: …
Pinching Xia Yu’s chubby cheeks, she couldn’t help but grin. After all, they were twins, with only a few seconds separating their births, so calling Xia Yu her “second brother” was just giving her some face—most of the time, Xia Ling could totally skip the title.
Like right now, as she looked at Xia Yu floundering, she was simply baffled. How could Xia Yu not get the boy-girl distinction? They had both been through fourth grade together, for crying out loud!
So, Xia Ling thought to herself, either Xia Yu was pretending or just didn’t want to accept reality. Wasn’t being a pretty girl like her a good thing?
Felizmente, Xia Ling decided not to argue about it anymore. In her eyes, as long as Xia Yu looked like a girl, then she was a girl, end of story.
Despite Xia Ling squeezing her face, Xia Yu didn’t dare to fight back. Why? Because her sister had already discovered she wasn’t exactly sporting the boy look anymore, and that made her a little panicky!
Until… Xia Ling finally grew tired of the face-squeezing and let her off the hook. “Sister, your hair is dry now. Let’s go watch TV!”
Hearing that, Xia Yu didn’t need to think twice. She shot up and bolted out of her sister’s princess room, fearing what weird questions might come next, and as for Xia Ling calling her “sister,” she didn’t care too much about that.
After escaping Xia Ling’s room, Xia Yu plopped down on the sofa to watch TV. Why didn’t she just return to her own room? Simple! There was nothing fun there!
To her surprise, not long after, Xia Ling trotted out of her princess palace, and then… she cozied right up against Xia Yu, snuggling in to watch TV together…
Xia Ling had long wanted this! Snuggling with her sister was downright fun, wasn’t it?
In the past, Xia Ling had always envied those kids with sisters or brothers to play and cuddle with. All she had were two older brothers, and from a young age, she knew boys and girls were different, so she simply couldn’t be too close with her brothers.
But now, she realized she actually had a sister! No wonder her “brother” always looked so much like a girl. Turns out, she really was a girl!
This little revelation sent Xia Ling into a delightful tizzy. That meant she’d finally have a sister to play with at home!
So, Xia Ling wasn’t about to waste a second of snuggle time. She dove right into the couch, getting all cozy with Xia Yu…
Since starting school, this was the first time Xia Yu had been so close to her sister. She didn’t dare move a muscle!
Because Xia Ling had learned from a young age all about the boy-girl divide thanks to their mother’s lessons, she always kept her distance from Xia Yu and their big brother, Xia Le. They hadn’t even held hands before, let alone leaned on each other like this!
