### Chapter 117: Want Me to Give You a House for Free?
Thinking back on what had happened tonight, Wang Wenjuan was at a loss for words. How could all of this be so… coincidental?
Sighing in resignation, she sat down on the sofa and pulled out her phone, waiting for her husband to come home so they could discuss what to do about the mess they were in.
Sure enough, moments ago, Xia Hong had called Wang Wenjuan. His message was simple and straightforward: he was fine and heading home, so they shouldn’t worry too much.
Xia Ling was also sitting on the sofa, barely uttering a word since the incident. No one knew what she was thinking.
Xia Yu, lying on a mat on the bed, was still feeling occasional sharp pains, making sleep nearly impossible. As darkness set in, memories of troubling events began to haunt her. She kept wondering why such things kept happening to her and why she wasn’t doing more wrongdoings.
If not for moving into their new place just recently, Xia Yu’s pillow might already be drenched by tears. The sight of just a single mat on her bed was a painful reminder. Xia Hong returned, seeing Xia Ling and Wang Wenjuan waiting for him at the living room. He couldn’t help but ask, “Where’s Xia Yu?”
Wang Wenjuan put a finger to her lips and whispered, “She went back to bed.”
After checking Xia Yu’s room, Xia Hong sat down on another sofa and asked more quietly, “Is everything okay with Xia Yu?”
“A mild concussion from the doctor’s side says three to four weeks of rest should fix it,” Wang Wenjuan said.
“That’s good.”
With some relief, Xia Hong then suggested it was time to go to bed, as they had work to handle at the office tomorrow.
“Fine,” Wang Wenjuan agreed.
As they left, Xia Ling finally got up from her spot on the sofa. She seemed determined, slipped on her shoes, and tiptoed toward Xia Yu’s room.
The room door had a key. So, Xia Ling tried to turn it. Click—
Not an unlocking sound, but… a locking one. Xia Yu had locked herself in earlier.
Well, so much for trying to talk to her. Xia Ling trudged back to her own bedroom sadly, contemplating the day’s events. If she had reacted faster, none of this would have happened.
Now unable to comfort Xia Yu, Xia Ling could only hope her dear sister wouldn’t do something silly. Xia Yu had been particularly fond of her since Xia Yu transformed into a younger sister.
Xia Yu cried herself to sleep through the night, so worn out that she fell asleep in her dress. By morning, her family was well aware she had been upset but chose to act like nothing was wrong.
At breakfast, Wang Wenjuan reminded Xiao Yu and Xiao Ling, “We’re going to the office today; we won’t be back for lunch. Make some food yourselves. Tonight, though, we’ll go shopping for a few things you need. Understand?”
Xiao Yu simply nodded while Xiao Ling eagerly agreed to join the outing after school.
Xia Hong, sensing Xiao Yu’s gloom, decided not to push her. He trusted the advice of her therapist, who recommended keeping things light.
When Xia Yu eventually came out, her eyes red and swollen, it was clear she had cried a lot. The lack of conversation around the table spoke volumes.
By noon, Xiao Ling nestled against Xiao Yu and asked with the $100 their parents gave them, “What do you think, sis? Should we order some takeout?”
They ended up ordering food, which tasted surprisingly good. By evening, the doorbell rang unexpectedly. Ding-dong!
Xia Yu peeked through the peephole to see Jiang Kekai at the door.
Jiang Kekai, known as the ‘Young Miss Jiang,’ had always been kindhearted. Xia Yu wondered how she found where they lived.
Before Xia Yu could even open the door, Jiang Kekai greeted her warmly with a big hug. Completely taken aback, Xia Yu asked puzzled, “How did you know where we live?”
“You mean you never told me? Well, no worries. Why don’t I buy you a house instead? What do you say?” Jiang Kekai laughed lightly.
Vicky Zhao, her bodyguard, felt envious but kept silent.
Even Xia Yu, surprised but touched, replied hesitantly, “No, no need for that. It’s too much.”
Jiang Kekai sighed, “Alright, if you say so. But how about if I buy it for myself and let it be next door to you?”
Vicky immediately took charge of the task, promising to make it happen.
Still bewildered by the sudden gift, Xia Yu asked again, “How did you even find us, Jiang Kekai?”
And so the mystery remains, with Xia Yu trying hard to get answers while Jiang Kekai insists it’s better she does not know.
