Chapter 204

### Chapter 203: Homebound Fiasco

“Little Ling, who are you chatting with?”

Before Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhang could even exchange some heartfelt words, Xia Ling’s mom, Wang Wenjuan, caught them. Normally, this wouldn’t have been a big deal—heck, they even slept together at noon and night without any problem.

But given that just such an incident had transpired recently, Wang Wenjuan was completely against anything to do with the Jiang family. Seeing Xia Ling still in contact with Jiang Hanhang, she swiftly snatched Xia Ling’s phone and hung up the call.

Wang Wenjuan went even further, warning Xia Ling, “Don’t you get it yet? Get a clue, okay? No more contacts with those Jiang people ever again.”

Xia Ling protested, “No way! The Jiang family is after us because of that old guy, not because of Jiang Hanhang or Jiang Kecong. Mom, please don’t assume everyone from the Jiang family is bad, alright?”

Sure enough, when these sorts of situations arise, Xia Ling naturally sides with Jiang Hanhang. She doesn’t want to lose such a good friend over this.

Hearing her daughter’s retort, Wang Wenjuan sighed tiredly, “I’m not saying everyone’s bad, it’s just that I think ahead more than others. Imagine, if you keep this up, the grown-ups from their side might not let their daughters be so close with you. You’ll seem too eager to climb up to their level, remember what happened last time?”

Wang Wenjuan made sense, but now annoyed Xia Ling didn’t know what to do. Was she really wrong? An hour later, Xia Yu, who was finally out of surgery, was rolled back into her ward.

Xia Yu was awake; the bl**d on her face had been cleaned off, and she had changed into clean hospital gowns. Still, her gaze was somewhat dazed, as if lost in thought. She looked very weak, making Xia Ling rush in and anxiously ask, “Are you okay, little sister?”

Even Wang Wenjuan came to the bedside, bending down, “Xiao Yu, how do you feel now?”

After a moment, Xia Yu shook her neck, feeling a bit sore, and said, “I’m fine.”

Though relieved, neither Wang Wenjuan nor Xia Ling was entirely convinced. How could Xia Yu’s condition truly be considered “fine”?

Beside them, Xia Hong nudged his buddy Lin Jie, and in an instant, Lin Jie gestured for a medical worker who brought Xia Yu back to speak. “How is she doing now?”

“The bruising has gone down a lot after letting the bl**d out, but she needs to rest,” the worker replied honestly.

Their voices echoed through the room, and both Wang Wenjuan and Xia Ling heard the news. Finally, something comforting to hear from a pro.

Just then, Xia Hong drove straight to the Lin family’s residence. Surprisingly, he was stopped by the Lins’ bodyguards, who insisted he couldn’t enter.

Fuming after searching all night for his wife and child just to be denied entry, Xia Hong pushed forward and ended up engaging in a brawl with the bodyguards.

Xia Hong wasn’t exactly a fighter, so it wasn’t long before the bodyguards pinned him down tightly. They then called their head, Lin Hai.

When Lin Hai learned about it, he ordered, “Release him. He’s not dangerous, just a visitor.” Sure enough, Lin Hai didn’t show himself but gave the order instead. Really, why bother dealing with Xia Hong directly?

Despite being allowed in, Xia Hong wasn’t grateful. Instead, he was angrier.

Arriving at Xia Yu’s ward, Xia Hong snapped, “We’re going home.”

Xia Yu was startled; the need for quiet recovery had her already on edge. Fortunately, she didn’t vomit bl**d this time. Otherwise, things would’ve been dire.

Wang Wenjuan saw the nonsense as unreasonable. Despite her anger, she decided to address Xia Hong calmly about Xia Yu’s condition.

While Xia Ling and the others only needed rest and bandaging, Xia Yu needed serious monitoring. Any re-emergence of bl**d could spell trouble. Weak as Xia Yu had become, Xia Hong couldn’t stand the frustration he felt at the Lins. Thus, he demanded, “Let’s go to the hospital.”

Xia Hong rudely dismantled Xia Yu’s life-support equipment. Witnessing this brutality, Xia Yu remained silent due to exhaustion.

In a panic, Xia Ling had one of the nurses help her hang her casted arm around and hurried after Xia Hong.

When Xia Hong carried the weakened Xia Yu into the car, Xia Ling arrived in time along with their mother and older brother.

Seeing Xia Hong make a scene, Wang Wenjuan yelled, “Are you insane? If something happens to Xiao Yu now?” Unmoved, Xia Hong took the wheel and set off towards a hospital.

Initially, Wang Wenjuan wanted to carry Xia Yu, but seeing Xia Hong drive off mid-open door, she could only watch, infuriated.

Xia Hong appeared to be driving recklessly. Wang Wenjuan told Xia Ling to close the car door.

Silently, after a while, Xia Hong finally spoke, “We’ll go to a different place first. I’ll take her to the hospital.”

Now, even Wang Wenjuan hesitated to respond, holding Xia Yu and quietly praying that she wouldn’t suffer a relapse.

Finally, Xia Hong found a nearby hospital and entered with Xia Yu. However, during admission processing, they refused without explanation. The staff acted like they were dealing with terrorists, contacting security to evict them.

Wang Wenjuan finally recalled the Jiang family’s influence, which might explain the rejection. Xia Hong’s rash behavior only worsened the situation.

Realizing this, Xia Ling decided to call their friend Lin Jie, hoping he could help. Xia Yue promptly dialed Lin Jie, but alas, Lin Jie was busy talking with Lin Hai.

Lin Hai listened patiently but intervened before Lin Jie could speak, saying, “It’s impossible. Many of our security guards are injured and need treatment. You should seek help elsewhere.”

After hanging up, Lin Hai couldn’t help grumbling, “Does he think we’re pushovers? If they refuse to give us respect, they won’t get any either.”

Seeing this, Lin Jie was speechless, knowing his duty as Xia Yue’s brother.

Xia Yue, still in the car, weakly muttered, “Back….home…..”

Clearly, Xia Yue just couldn’t take any more stress.
