Chapter 212

### Chapter 211: I’ve Got My Eye on Your Kid

Seeing that his father was still stubborn, Jiang Bin really had no way out, so he turned to his eldest daughter, Jiang Kekai, to silently admit defeat and imply that dad couldn’t do anything about it. Although Jiang Bin compromised, Jiang Kekai wasn’t having it. She boldly stared into her grandpa’s eyes, saying, “You have your way of thinking, I have mine. You don’t understand my friends. Besides, times have changed—you shouldn’t be judging them with that outdated look.”

After saying this, Jiang Kekai brushed off Jiang Heng and left directly, asserting her stance.

Jiang Heng, as expected, wanted to stop Jiang Kekai and chide her further, but Jiang Bin quickly intervened by directing his father’s attention, saying, “Dad, Xiao Ning has grown up. Some things she understands now. She isn’t a little girl always needing us to make choices for her anymore.”

“How come you’re like this too?”

Seeing his eldest son disagree, Jiang Heng sighed—only because he thought more deeply about some matters.

Thanks to Jiang Bin’s intervention, Jiang Kekai left smoothly, packing up her luggage straight away to go back home.

Of course, before leaving, she didn’t forget to hand a piece of paper to the old butler, instructing him, “Call all the people on this list over here and have them meet me in Peng City later.”

Correctly so, after experiencing past events, Jiang Kekai was wary and made sure the list she gave contained only her personal bodyguards from Jiang Family. As the first command executor, her decision was foolproof.

The old butler looked at the listed names, recognizing a few familiar ones. He reluctantly told Jiang Kekai, “Miss, these people on the list were once helpers but were confined after the Master caught them. Getting them to join you would be hard.”

“You said they came to assist me, weren’t from elsewhere. Hurry and fetch them, or who’ll take responsibility if something happens to me without bodyguards?”

“Miss, you don’t have to head back right now, let me report to the Master…”

Before the butler could finish, Jiang Kekai impatiently snapped, “So my commands are to be ignored now? Don’t think I don’t know how you’ve used your position to bring people into our ranks. Don’t push me to fire them yourself. Even with Grandpa around, I may not get the sack for you, but others can be dealt with.”

Miss Jiang Kekai lived up to being Miss; she hit the nail on the head. The old butler owed his title to decades of service for Jiang Family.

Certainly, his high-ranking status meant he had dealt with relatives asking favors, and he had accommodated some. However, considering the butler’s contributions over decades and the trivial roles those people played, Jiang Heng chose to ignore the issue.

But if the old butler insisted on crossing swords with Jiang Kekai, then it would be her word against his. She’d show no mercy.

Hence, Jiang Kekai’s threat left the old butler sighing and escorting her to the staff area to gather the required personnel.

Without hesitation, Jiang Kekai set straight for the Xia Family after meeting these folks. Otherwise, if her grandpa noticed her leaving, preventing her could become tricky.

In truth, Jiang Kekai was overthinking this since Jiang Heng wouldn’t be oblivious for this long. However, he decided not to interfere, knowing stopping her would be futile.

Besides, the idea that Jiang Kekai, alone, might face even greater danger without the bodyguards made him think it’s better she learns harsh realities soon.

Reflecting on past events brought heartache to Jiang Heng—he wished Xia Yu never crossed their path, thus sparing him headaches.

Jiang Kekai left in the afternoon and arrived at Xia’s place in the evening. A few of those bodyguards accompanying her were old acquaintances, taking care of themselves.

Upon knocking at the Xia family’s door, Jiang Kekai found the Xia Family gathered for dinner. Xia Yu, Xia Ling, and Jiang Hanhang appeared somewhat downcast due to this important person’s absence—likely Jiang Kekai or perhaps Xia Yu, whose return Xia Yu eagerly awaited. Xia Yu couldn’t wait to open the door.

“Sister Kekai~”

Xia Yu was thrilled to see Kekai returning so soon, jumping in for an unexpected hug. Xia Hong coughed, hinting his presence and questioning Xia Yu’s mental health recovery, noting he had learned flirting skills. But he quickly snapped himself back in line, offering Jiang Kekai dinner, “Have you eaten?”

Before a reply, Jiang Hanhang rushed to fetch dishes, showing obedience in a household full of strong personalities.

With Jiang Kekai doting over Xia Yu’s head and considering Jiang Hanhang, she agreed, “Sure.”

Jiang Kekai’s intentions remained unclear; she hadn’t forgotten past misunderstandings. While enjoying dinner, she decided how to take Xia Yu away without issues. Halfway through the meal, she posed an academic opportunity to Xia Hong, “Uncle, I have a proposition regarding Xia Yu’s education. What do you think about sending her to Beijing for junior high?”

“What if?”

Jiang Kekai felt confident he’d approve, continuing, “Yu’s in sixth grade now. If we move her to Beijing for middle school, will you go along with me? All costs covered!”

Instead of pondering Yu’s transfer, Xia Hong eyed Jiang Kekai sternly, “Why are you so keen on helping Yu? What’s your ulterior motive?”

Facing Xia Hong’s probing, Jiang Kekai didn’t shy away, stating candidly, “I want Xia Yu, and that should be reason enough.”

Xia Yu blushed, realizing Jiang Kekai possibly harbored romantic intentions. Yet, why her?

Jiang Heng was equally blindsided, stunned by Jiang Kekai’s straightforward admission. He pondered and consulted Wang Wenjuan, “Wenjuan, what do you think? Send Xia Yu to Beijing?”

Confused and unprepared for this turn of events, Wenjuan replied hesitantly, “This is your life, Xia Yu. Your decision.”

Jiang Kekai’s smile grew; she knew Xia Yu wouldn’t refuse. Xia Yu, bashful yet grateful, nodded.

Just then, Jiang Hanhang interjected eagerly, “Since Sister takes Xia Yu to Beijing, I could follow Xia Ling.”

“Umm.”

Xia Hong was speechless.

“Cut it! I’ll go wherever Xia Ling goes. My little sister is going with someone,” added Jiang Hanhang, unfazed.

Xia Hong couldn’t argue; Jiang Hanhang matched her in spirited repartee.

And so, they embarked on their journey, each with their own reasons intertwined in family dynamics and personal desires…
