### Chapter 289: Family Time
Almost in the blink of an eye, the person leading the regulatory bureau’s phone rang. Everyone there glanced at Jiang Kekai, guessing that this must be her doing. And indeed, they were correct—this was Jiang Kekai’s doing. She smiled sweetly at the regulatory bureau personnel, “What are you still waiting for? Pick up the phone.”
The bureau personnel couldn’t help but comply, stepping away from the crowd to answer the call. Sure enough, when he returned, his face was stormy. He had been severely reprimanded by his boss, and was now ordered back.
They had thought that the restaurant didn’t have much of a background, and gave in to pressure from certain people. But who would have thought that the backing belonged to the Jiang Family’s Young Lady? He surrendered.
“Sorry for the disturbance.”
After bowing half-heartedly to Xia Yu, the man signaled his subordinates, “Alright, we can wrap things up now.”
That’s it? Everyone present knew Jiang Kekai was behind this. Yet… they were too scared to say anything. Facing such an imposing family as the Jiangs, even if they didn’t like it, they had to hold their tongues.
As the regulatory bureau officers left, Jiang Kekai didn’t forget to give a friendly reminder to the curious business owners, “This street will soon be undergoing a food safety inspection. Aren’t you guys going to prepare?”
Oh no! Exactly what they feared came true. Suddenly, some business owners regretted being so harsh on the restaurant. Rushing back, they began preparing for the unexpected inspection.
Jiang Kekai didn’t want to exterminate them completely; she just needed them distracted enough not to bother the restaurant anymore.
“Everything’s settled now.” Jiang Kekai placed her arm around Xia Yu again, “See? With me around, everything’s fine. You can relax, Little Yu.”
“Uh-huh.”
Xia Yu was used to relying on Little Ning Sister.
The four girls continued their meal, after all, wasting food here would be disrespectful to Xia Yu’s vision for the restaurant. Today, Jiang Kekai has given Xia Yu, Xia Ling, and Jiang Hanhang a break. So after eating, they could continue playing outside until they were exhausted.
Unconsciously, Xia Yu had gotten accustomed to a girl’s life even though he still felt uncomfortable with some female things. At least it was better than transforming into a magical princess all the time.
Back in the room during bath time, Jiang Kekai picked out clothes for Xia Yu, “Xia Yu, it’s getting colder, have you ever worn thick pantyhose?”
Seeing Jiang Kekai toss over a pair of sheer pantyhose, Xia Yu—who was usually calm—became bashful, “I… I have.”
Indeed, Xia Yu had worn similar pantyhose before, having already returned to normal life almost a year ago. She still remembered how Xia Ling made her wear black-and-white pantyhose for a New Year’s visit.
“Really? Fine, then get dressed once you’re done with your bath. That way you won’t feel cold.”
“Emmmm… Can I just wear thick pants instead?”
Xia Yu wasn’t quite comfortable with clingy clothing. Jiang Kekai refused, “Nope, it’s all set. Just follow what I say.”
Then Jiang Kekai stuffed more clothes into Xia Yu’s arms, which she considered very nice. After all, one of the joys of raising Little Cutie is to cuddle and dress her up. Why would she dress her up otherwise?
Xia Yu didn’t have many complaints but still pouted a bit while holding the clothes and heading to the bathroom. Of course, Jiang Kekai took every opportunity to get close, “Why rush? I’m not gonna eat you, are I?”
Xia Yu: “…”
After spending so much time together, Xia Yu realized Little Ning Sister played a cool character in front of others, but she became silly around Xia Yu.
Especially… during their intimate moments, Xia Yu found herself getting silly too, making it hard to get rid of. It was no surprise since the Jiangs were having a family dinner tonight. Jiang Bin and Zhang Yunzhi didn’t need to attend to any guests, and Xia Yu and Xia Ling were invited too.
In Jiang Bin and Zhang Yunzhi’s eyes, Xia Yu and Xia Ling weren’t outsiders, and since their daughters could eat at the Xia household, why couldn’t they dine together here?
Xia Yu and Xia Ling were still adjusting to this change, having been used to eating alone in their rooms. Their reluctance was somewhat expected, especially given the family’s powerful demeanor.
Seated at the table, Xia Yu and Xia Ling felt restrained and stiff, clearly disliking the formal setting. Seeing their discomfort, Jiang Kekai sighed and turned to the servants, “Alright, go about your business. I’ll call if I need help.”
The servants obeyed, sensing Jiang Kekai wanted to make Xia Yu and Xia Ling feel less nervous.
“Come on, you two aren’t first-timers dining together. Why the nerves?”
Seeing Xia Yu and Xia Ling still anxious, Jiang Kekai gently reassured them, “Just tell me what you want, and I’ll get it for you.”
Xia Yu usually wouldn’t worry, but with Jiang Bin and Zhang Yunzhi present, she feared seeming spoiled. Jiang Kekai’s care only increased her anxiety. Xia Yu hoped Jiang Bin would not blame her.
“You know the drill.”
Seeing Xia Yu hesitating, Jiang Kekai prompted her patiently, “Open wide.”
Xia Yu obediently opened her mouth, accepting Jiang Kekai’s feeding.
Xia Yu tried to mention her hands before, but Jiang Kekai insisted. Now, watching Xia Yu obediently eat made Jiang Kekai happy. She wasn’t aware, but Jiang Bin and Zhang Yunzhi had already accepted the relationship between her and their eldest daughter.
Jiang Bin intended to discuss some matters during dinner but stopped due to Xia Yu’s nervousness.
Watching Jiang Kekai feed Xia Yu, Jiang Hanhang found it amusing and mimicked her, placing a piece of meat in front of Xia Ling, “Little Ling, try some.”
Xia Ling: “…”
If it weren’t for her parents and brother here, Xia Ling might have joined in. Xiao Ling needed boundaries too.
Seeing Xia Ling unresponsive, Jiang Hanhang ate the meat herself, “Hmm… delicious. Little Ling, don’t you want some?”
“No thanks.”
“If you don’t try it, you’re missing out.”
Xia Ling was immune to Jiang Hanhang’s teasing even with family present.
Meanwhile, Jiang Dong maintained a stern facade throughout the meal, as usual. From the start, he had never liked Xia Ling or Xia Yu, so ignoring them suited him just fine.
When the meal neared an end, Jiang Bin turned to Xia Yu regarding the restaurant, “Xia Yu, what made you think of starting this kind of restaurant?”
Hearing this, Xia Yu’s relaxed mood instantly tensed. Jiang Bin surely knew how much she spent.
Xia Yu spoke openly, “I felt sorry for those people, so… I wanted to help them.”
Under Jiang Bin’s piercing gaze, Xia Yu couldn’t lie. She hoped Jiang Bin wouldn’t blame her.
Indeed, Jiang Bin knew about starting a major restaurant in Demon City and had even discussed it with Jiang Kekai. Seeing Xia Yu’s honesty mirrored Jiang Kekai’s words, Jiang Bin let out a sigh.
“It’s good that Xia Yu has kind friends. True, we may lose money, but if I can help, I will. After all, we’re family, right?”
Xia Yu prepared herself for a scolding but instead found relief and joy. Jiang Kekai intervened, hugging Xia Yu, “Xia Yu knows what she’s doing.”
