Chapter 301: No Respect
So, if you’re not allowed to drink, then fine, no drinking! The bodyguards knew that drinking could lead to mess-ups, so as long as they could eat, that was already a win. And just like that, our group quickly arrived at the Elly Restaurant.
Jiang Bin was showing off as much as Jiang Kekai and Jiang Hanhang, arriving and booking the entire third floor of the place, ordering dozens of lavish meals and demanding the chefs whip them up immediately…
Finally settling in, Jiang Kekai asked Jiang Bin, “Dad, how’s the situation with the Lin family going?”

“But what?”
Jiang Kekai felt an unusual pang of nervousness creeping in.
Jiang Bin sighed, then looked at Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu, “But he still doesn’t agree with you two being together. Old-fashioned thinking, and I honestly have no idea how to change his mind.”
Upon hearing this was all about that issue, Jiang Kekai sighed with relief. Hugging Xia Yu nonchalantly, she said to Jiang Bin, “This is my life, and I have my own opinions. I like Little Yu, and I’m not backing down on this.”
Seeing the two so cozy with each other, Jiang Bin couldn’t help but chuckle helplessly: “I know you stick to your guns, but maybe think of some way to convince grandpa? After all, living outside like this isn’t exactly normal, is it?”
“Who says? I think living outside is great! You and mom are always so busy; at least I get to play with Little Yu and Little Ling,” Jiang Hanhang couldn’t help but chime in.
Jiang Bin had no retort for that because he and his wife had indeed been too busy, leaving their son and daughter hanging. Just then, the door swung open, and a cadre of waitstaff wheeled in a parade of food carts, because, you know, moving dozens of dishes isn’t too easy. It was during this flurry that Zhang Yunzhi arrived on the third floor with Jiang Dong…
That’s right! When Jiang Bin left, Jiang Dong was off sniffing around in the capital, so when Zhang Yunzhi returned, he came back with her. Seeing Jiang Dong, Xia Yu’s face fell even further, reminding her of past events she didn’t want to think about.
Jiang Kekai noticed this too, and spotting Jiang Dong without an ounce of regret made her mood plummet: “Dad, I suddenly don’t want to eat… you guys go ahead.”
Saying this, Jiang Kekai attempted to pull Xia Yu up and leave, but Jiang Hanhang and Little Ling both stood up as if a telepathic alarm had gone off, ready to follow. “Everyone sit down!” Jiang Bin declared, his tone laced with resignation, “It’s not every day we get to eat together, no one’s allowed to leave.” “Dad~” Jiang Kekai hinted at her father.
But Jiang Bin was having none of it: “No one is leaving; sit down and eat!”
After all, he was still her father, and Jiang Kekai was trying to keep face for old dad, so reluctantly, she and Xia Yu resumed their seats.
Maybe it was Jiang Dong’s presence, but Xia Yu felt awkward leaning against her beloved Little Ning as she usually did. With Jiang Bin and Zhang Yunzhi around, the tension was palpable.
“Exactly, it’s so rare for everyone to gather like this. Let’s not dwell on the issues at hand. Plus, I just helped sort out the Lin family drama for you all,” Zhang Yunzhi interjected, which made Jiang Kekai feel even worse about wanting to leave. But at the same time, she worried about Xia Yu getting hurt.
Jiang Bin wasn’t naive; he understood why Jiang Kekai tried to pull Xia Yu away. Of course, it was because of Jiang Dong’s arrival!
Oh dear, this little spat needed a grown-up’s intervention. “Xiao Dong, stand up and apologize to Little Yu! Can’t you see how unhappy both Little Ning and Hanhang are with your behavior? What you said was really hurtful.”
“What? I’m not doing that.”
Jiang Dong defiantly turned his face away, as if apologizing to this ‘girl monster’ in front of all these people was totally out of the question. “Apologize! Now!”
Seeing his son so clueless, Jiang Bin turned serious, the air thick with dad-vibes.
Hearing this, Jiang Dong flinched a bit, but that didn’t mean he would bend over backwards; he scoffed, “I don’t think I did anything wrong.”
At this point, Zhang Yunzhi had her head buried in her hands. Summer Yu was going to be Jiang Kekai’s wife for crying out loud! Why couldn’t Jiang Dong just adjust a little? Why make things so tense?
As expected, Xia Yu’s face didn’t look great. The way Jiang Dong was acting made her doubt herself even more: was she really that dislikeable?
“Enough!”
Jiang Kekai finally couldn’t take it anymore. Gently pulling her precious Little Yu up again, she declared, “You all carry on eating. Little Yu and I have things to do, so we’ll just go now.”
With that, Jiang Kekai dragged Xia Yu toward the exit. She’d given her dad face once, but this time, she wasn’t going to hold back. Because… she was genuinely worried that her big brother’s impulsiveness might make Xia Yu feel awful. By the time she’d regret it, it would be too late!

“No need!” Jiang Kekai quickly interrupted her dad’s plan, “That would be too obvious. I’m just taking them for a stroll around Demon City; I’ll wear a mask—it’ll be fine.”
“Is… is that really okay?”
“Definitely! Everyone’s probably famished; I won’t interrupt their meal.” “Well… alright then, stay safe,” Jiang Bin conceded.
Watching his daughter leave with Xia Yu, Zhang Yunzhi felt extremely disappointed, originally wanting to ask them when they planned to get married and if they were considering a little baby for her to play with.
But all of that was ruined by her own son! Zhang Yunzhi’s heart ached bitterly.
It was a tough spot; she couldn’t really blame her son for being unable to accept the situation.
Once outside, Jiang Kekai didn’t walk far before she turned into a private room: “Hungry? No one’s going to say anything about us now.”
