Chapter 355: Approval
Summer Xia didn’t know how to reply, so she decided not to bother. She just switched back to Penguin Software and started refreshing her Penguin Space to k*ll some time…
On the other side, Long Qian felt a bit disappointed when she saw Summer Xia log off. Was it really that hard for her to find a girl with similar interests to be her girlfriend?
Seeing the plane was about to take off, she reluctantly shut down her phone and decided to sort things out later.
Long Aoxiang actually knew what his sister liked—girls. He didn’t want to interfere too much in her affairs.
However, he was not one to mince words when making fun of her: “Sis, you’ve got your eye on another girl again? But I think your chances are pretty slim. Haven’t you heard? Jiang Kekai already has a girlfriend named Xia Yu.”
“Who said that? I didn’t know!”
“A friend of mine from Demon City told me. Here, look at her photo too.”
As he said this, Long Aoxiang showed his sister a picture of Xia Yu taken by paparazzi in Demon City. You could say they looked alike—almost identical, in fact.
“So Xia Yu is Jiang Kekai’s girlfriend now?”
“Yes, that’s what people are saying. And Jiang Kekai even announced it publicly. So sis, better forget about her. She might not have a boyfriend, but she does have a girlfriend.”
Long Qian: “Can’t you tell me something nice? So what if Jiang Kekai has a girlfriend? I’m determined to win her over anyway. Jiang Family’s days are numbered, mark my words; I don’t believe I can’t best Jiang Kekai.”
“So sis, this is real love or are you just against Jiang Kekai?”
“Mind your own business.”
Long Aoxiang: “…”
After waiting half an hour, from Xia Yu and Xia Ling’s perspective, the relatives gradually left the ward, except Jiang Kekai and Jiang Hanhang, who were still inside.
How boring! Xia Yu had few friends on Penguin Friends, and the news on Penguin Space was already old hat.
Yawning, Xia Yu debated whether to take a nap when Jiang Kekai finally came out of the ward.
She scanned left and right before finally locating Xia Yu and Xia Ling and walked over: “Sorry to make you wait. Why don’t we go inside and sit? Grandmother wants to meet you.”
“Uh, no…it’s fine.”
Xia Yu instantly thought of that fierce grandfather, Old Jiang Heng, and remembered he was still inside. She wasn’t too keen on meeting him.
Noticing Xia Yu’s reluctance, Jiang Kekai reassured her: “It’s okay, I’ve already asked Grandmother. She isn’t against anything; she simply wants to get closer to you.”
“Really?”
“Why would I lie?”
“Then your grandfather is there too?”
“You tell me.”
Xia Yu: “…”
In the end, Xia Yu couldn’t resist Little NIng Sister and calmed her nerves before entering the ward.
Sure enough, although it looked empty from outside, the ward was bustling with people inside: Old Grandma, Old Jiang Heng, Jiang Dong, Jiang Bin, Zhang Yunzhi, and Jiang Hanhang, along with a doctor overseeing everything.
When Xia Yu entered, everyone’s eyes instantly focused on her, increasing her anxiety.
Seeing Xia Yu’s hesitation, Jiang Kekai pulled her over to her grandmother’s bedside: “Grandmother, I brought Xia Yu. Don’t be like grandfather and be mean to her.”
“Just sit here by me.”
Grandma Long unexpectedly patted Jiang Bin on the thigh, clearly gesturing for him to leave. Jiang Bin instantly understood and moved away, offering the seat to Xia Yu: “Sit here, Xia Yu.”
Thus, Xia Yu nervously sat beside Grandma Long, unsure what she wanted.
Grandma Long didn’t immediately question Xia Yu but observed her anxious face for a moment before asking, “May I call you Xia Yu as well? Can I see your right hand?”
Was she going to read her palm? With a sigh, Xia Yu extended her hand for the old lady to scrutinize.
Glancing at Jiang Heng, who was visibly displeased, yet quiet today, it seemed someone had warned him prior.
During this hand-reading session, the atmosphere mysteriously grew silent. After a while, Grandma Long let go of Xia Yu’s hand: “Child, do you truly like Xia Yu?”
“Uh, yeah…”
What a weird question. Xia Yu suddenly wished for a tunnel to escape with her toes. This was mortifying!
Grandma Long noticed Xia Yu’s reaction: “Alright, if you love each other, work hard at it. I won’t stand in your way. Just make sure you don’t regret it.”
Then, she turned to Jiang Heng: “Old man, now that you’re retired, mind your own business. The kids have their plans.”
Only then did Jiang Heng listen, albeit grudgingly. If not for his wife’s accident, he’d likely be acting his usual domineering self. But now, he chose to placate his wife: “I understand.”
Four simple words—but a heavy price.
Finally, Grandma Long dismissed the girls: “Alright, Xia Yu, Xia Ling, it’s been a while since you met your families. We’re fine, so go home.”
“Okay, grandma, we’ll head out.”
“Go ahead, others’ loved ones are probably worried.”
…
Outside the ward, relieved of many watching eyes, Xia Yu sighed. “See, I told you everything was fine. How will you manage marriage if you’re this timid?”
Grandma Long, not opposed to Xia Yu, also managed to calm down her husband, lifting Jiang Kekai’s spirits. To dodge the affectionate gesture, Xia Yu half-crouched and slipped beside Xia Ling, muttering, “This big bad guy is so annoying. Let’s ignore her.”
“Sure thing.”
With Xia Ling, the younger sister seeking help, Xia Ling naturally stepped in, blocking Jiang Kekai from chasing them: “Big Bad Guy, didn’t you hear? My sister says she doesn’t want to talk to you.”
Tsk tsk tsk…
Knowing she could only hold Jiang Kekai off for a while, Xia Yu learned from Jiang Hanhang’s upbeat attitude and teasing: “Sis Jiang, catch me if you can. You won’t get me. Such a waste of effort.”
Jiang Kekai: “…”
