Chapter 408: Void, Loneliness
As Jiang Hanhan gave up and walked away, only then did Gao Xiaotian curiously turn to look at Xia Yu, “What did you do to her? She’s never acted this crazy before.” “Too many tears for that story.”
Xia Yu sighed with a bitter smile, “I took some time off because I was sick with a fever, and she slept with me, catching the fever from me. And then…”. Gao Xiaotian quietly listened until Xia Yu finished, his gaze now decidedly different, speaking with complete assurance, “Alright, I don’t doubt it anymore. Xiaoyu, you’re a girl, right? That must be what happened.”
Xia Yu: “?? ?”
After a while, Xia Yu came to realize what they had been discussing, realizing the pitfall of speaking without thinking. How could normal guys and girls sleep together when they were that old?
Even if they did, the chances were exceedingly slim, and besides, she had conditions for them to have separate rooms.
Xia Yu tried to find an excuse to cover up but couldn’t think of what to say, so she just stood there awkwardly, “Who said I’m female? I don’t admit it.”
“Then tell me why they all want to sleep with you and get along so closely with you?”
“Why ask me? Ask them yourself!”
Xia Yu dodged the question. She didn’t believe Gao Xiaotian would dare to provoke Jiang Hanhan. However…Gao Xiaotian actually got up and walked over.
There was no helping it; he was just too curious. Without hesitation, Gao Xiaotian got up from his seat and approached the sulking Jiang Hanhan, directly addressing the heart of the matter, “I found out, Xia Yu is also a girl, just like you, right?”
“Yes.”
Jiang Hanhan grinned mischievously, locking eyes with Xia Yu, then continued towards Gao Xiaotian, “It’s been such a long time since you noticed such a beautiful girl sitting here; you’re really slow! Don’t waste a golden opportunity, you should go get her!”
Thank goodness Jiang Kekai wasn’t around, or Jiang Hanhan would surely get hit again. Really, how could a sister be so troublesome?
So straightforward? Moreover, the way Jiang Hanhan was grinning…. This made Gao Xiaotian even more doubtful. “Really? Don’t joke around.”
“Believe what you want. If you don’t believe, that’s fine. Didn’t you just heroically come to help Xia Yu not long ago? Now you dare come asking me questions—didn’t expect you to have such nerve.”
Thinking about what happened earlier, Jiang Hanhan was furious and grabbed an eraser from the table, ready to throw it. But Xia Ling stopped her just in time.
“What’s with all the excitement? If you throw that, what will you use during class later?”
Xia Ling was helpless. Ever since Jiang Hanhan realized she could bully Xia Yu, she had become even more unruly; Xia Ling could hardly restrain her.
When Jiang Hanhan turned and saw Xia Ling, Xia Ling was viewed as Xia Yu’s older sister. Since she’d come to visit, Jiang Hanhan decided not to throw the eraser.
However, Xia Ling wouldn’t let her off easily. After seating herself back down, Jiang Hanhan immediately sought comfort by throwing herself into Xia Ling’s arms, “Xiaoling, Xiaoyu keeps bullying me, and now she has Gao Xiaotian stirring things up.”
Xia Ling: “.…”
Gao Xiaotian: “.…”
Everyone else: “.…”
Jiang Hanhan indeed had thick skin. Despite everyone knowing she was spouting nonsense, no one called her out and instead continued watching the show.
As for Gao Xiaotian, he now knew Jiang Hanhan was clearly pulling his leg. Asking her about this was truly not a smart move. Looking at Jiang Hanhan’s cutesy behavior with Xia Ling, he felt it better not to stir any trouble. What was Xia Yu’s gender to him anyway? He was truly swayed by curiosity.
Returning to his seat, Gao Xiaotian still couldn’t help but glance at Xia Yu. She looked too much like a girl; boys shouldn’t look like this, right? Not to mention her voice and everyday actions…
He had thought he’d never mistrust himself, but unexpectedly, he’d started doubting because of a slip of the tongue. Indeed, speaking without thinking was problematic.
Xia Yu was perfectly aware he was sneaking peeks. Yet she didn’t know how to convince him she was still a boy. Besides, she wasn’t a boy anymore.
Before she knew it, it was already morning reading time…
Xia Yu had already completed sixth grade reading materials and had memorized everything assigned. So, morning readings and recitations presented her no challenges at all. But Gao Xiaotian was different; he had last-minute cramming to do. Consequently, he tried his best to look serious as the substitute teacher approached, leading him to push aside the recent incident.
Now, Xia Yu didn’t have to dwell on it. But since being suspected by Gao Xiaotian, she found herself feeling less annoyed, slightly drowsy. Facing the window, she reflected that it had been half a year since the change occurred. If it weren’t for that accident, she might not have met Sister Little Ning.
Thinking of this, Xia Yu was unsure whether to be grateful or resentful about the accident. And regarding transforming back … Sister Little Ning seemed content with things as they were.
On the other hand, Jiang Kekai opened her laptop to check some information.
If Xia Yu were here, she would notice Jiang Kekai wasn’t studying but rather browsing through recent information about her. Jiang Kekai remembered Xia Yu was previously targeted and poisoned.
Although things seemed calm now, she didn’t trust the other side would give up this easily. Therefore, she had been keeping an eye on Xia Yu’s news, ensuring no information slipped through.
Given Jiang Kekai’s special status, even during morning break teachers wouldn’t dare bother her. Sometimes teachers wondered why Jiang Kekai attended school when it might be safer for her to stay home. They believed degrees were better obtained without attending classes.
Nevertheless, teachers dared not speculate too much. If Jiang Kekai chose to attend school, so be it. Besides, they had taught her, and they could proudly mention later that they once instructed Jiang Kekai when she appeared on TV.
The information was soon reviewed. Without Xia Yu, Jiang Kekai felt somewhat empty……
At home, she could hug Xia Yu anytime. Now feeling regretful for coming to school today, she felt terribly lonely. Sighing, filled with emptiness and loneliness, Jiang Kekai lost interest in work and started daydreaming. She wondered what Xia Yu’s ‘Little Cutie’ was doing and if she was being teased by her playful younger sister.
