### Chapter 2: Seeking Aid from the Night Watchers
The sun was high in the sky.
“Ah-huh~”
After stepping out the door, Night Lan started to sweat profusely, suddenly feeling that the problems were piling up.
Because this was clearly not the Yun Chang City she knew!
“Where am I? Isn’t this Yun Chang City? What kind of weird place has Star brought me now?”
Night Lan nearly fainted at the sudden realization, her head spinning with questions.
But she had to stay calm to figure out what was going on.
Then, after summoning her courage and cautiously inquiring a few locals, she finally found out where she was.
“Mmm… Shanghe City? I remember this being right next to Yun Chang City…”
Nodding thoughtfully, after buying breakfast, she retraced her steps back home.
In a nondescript little house…
Okay, it was definitely nondescript.
She wasn’t sure if this was Yun Chang City, but the interior layout was identical.
Night Star and Night Lan were munching on breakfast small bites at a time, pondering their situation as they ate.
“Why am I in Shanghe City? Where exactly do I live? My head hurts…”
It ultimately all came down to the fault of the intruding Stars.
Without any surprises, this had something to do with a wish she made before going to bed.
She wanted to fix the Puppet Master’s puppet, and Star responded by sending her here.
Night Lan felt very irritated.
This “Wish Machine” was terrible.
To see a wish through meant she had to do all the work herself. Shouldn’t there be a moment where it goes “ding” and it’s done?
There was no style.
“Crappy Stars!”
After angrily finishing breakfast, Night Lan took a moment to collect herself.
Unlike her encounter with White Fish, she seemed unable to remain an impartial observer.
Judging from the current situation, she needed to step in directly.
But the problem was, she knew nothing! How could she intervene?
She was a weakling who only knew how to run away. In Shanghe City, she didn’t even have a single connection, so to say she was running around aimlessly wasn’t even a stretch.
“Woohoo…”
Just as Night Lan was feeling stressed, her expression changed in the blink of an eye as an idea struck her.
“Hold on, Shanghe City should have a Night Watcher Base, right? Then all I need to do is ask there for help.”
“But what identity do I use to seek help? An ordinary citizen or a future Night Watcher?” Night Star asked herself aloud.
Night Lan nodded in thought for a brief moment, her tiny fist clenching slightly as she punched the air. Her gaze turned resolute.
“Hmm… life and d*ath, who cares? If you don’t like it, let’s go. I’m throwing caution to the wind.”
“Yes, screw it! Charge!”
…
Under the scorching sun.
A mysterious black-haired loli appeared at the police station, peeking around with a look of hidden distress.
A few on-duty officers noticed her and gathered around.
“Little girl, is there anything we can help you with?”
“Well… I’m a Night Watcher. Could you tell me where the Night Watcher Base in this city is?”
The police officers looked confused.
With a mixture of hesitation and skepticism, the officers led a Night Watcher from Shanghe City to meet Night Lan.
She was a pretty girl with pink hair and golden eyes, dressed in a special blue-and-white uniform, staring intently at the black-haired loli.
“Small fry, where did you hear about the term ‘Night Watcher?'”
Lan Feng Su Yu squatted down, aligning their lines of sight, with a very serious expression.
“It’s not just what I heard. I’m really a Night Watcher!”
Hearing the doubt in the pink-haired girl’s tone, Night Lan became anxious.
However, Lan Feng Su Yu still didn’t believe her.
“I have never heard of anyone your age joining our ranks before. It’s wrong to lie.”
“Hmm… I know about Star and Star Eclipses, and tons of other things that ordinary people shouldn’t know.”
Hearing that, Lan Feng Su Yu’s expression turned serious, mumbling, “Perhaps some unruly newbie let something slip. And it must have been important information. Looks like I have to report this to higher-ups…”
“I’m telling the truth!”
Lan Feng Su Yu pondered for a moment and asked, “What’s your name?”
“Night Lan, night’s night, waves’ ripples.”
Lan Feng Su Yu stood up and activated a projection screen to look up Night Lan’s information.
However, strangely, there was nothing.
Not only was her claim of being a Night Watcher unverified, but there was no information on her as a regular citizen either.
Seeing this, Lan Feng Su Yu began to sense something amiss.
“An undocumented one?”
Night Lan quickly shook her head, “No, my Stars apparently can traverse time. Actually, I’m a Night Watcher from the future, and I haven’t completely mastered my Stars yet, so…”
Upon hearing this, Lan Feng Su Yu grabbed Night Lan by the arm and pulled her along, pushing her into a car.
“Hey?”
Night Lan was baffled, still trying to make sense of everything.
Before long, Night Lan was taken to the Night Watcher Base in Shanghe City.
Lan Feng Su Yu sternly warned, “Wait here; don’t run around. I’ll go find someone.”
“Uh… okay.”
Night Lan looked scared and confused, saying nothing and asking nothing, just waiting for the pink-haired beauty to return.
A while later, Night Lan saw the pink-haired girl dragging a gray-haired young man back over.
“This is the little one I told you about, Mo Yu.”
“Hold on, I haven’t fully processed what you said. Let me think a bit more.”
Night Lan curiously watched the young man in his twenties.
He looked cool with an eyepatch on his right eye, something strange about him, and exuded a sort of “middle school delinquent” vibe.
“Lan Feng Su Yu, you said you met a Night Watcher claiming to be from the future, yes?”
“Yeah,” Lan Feng Su Yu nodded.
“Are you sure?”
“No, but I think her story might be true.”
“You’re not sure, yet you brought her here anyway? Aren’t you setting her up?”
“But she knows a lot about Night Watchers.”
“That could also mean some chatterbox Night Watcher told her.”
“I considered that, but she said her Stars are out of control…”
The instant those words were spoken, Mo Yu instantly directed his gaze towards Night Lan, who was casually spectating, filled with suspicion and seriousness.
Night Lan was startled and rapidly shook her head.
“No, no, no, I didn’t say anything. I just haven’t completely mastered my Stars yet…”
Lan Feng Su Yu nodded in thought, “Maybe I misheard you.”
Mo Yu sighed, feeling frustrated.
“Even after calling you clueless, you still deny it. Always causing chaos.”
“It could still be true…” Lan Feng Su Yu continued defending.
Mo Yu leaned lazily against the wall, closing one eye.
“At least I’ve never heard of any Stars capable of traversing past and future.”
“But there’s not a single trace of her online or in any data network, like she popped up out of nowhere.”
“Hmm… that’s suspicious.”
Mo Yu straightened his posture and approached Night Lan, taking a closer look.
“Hmm… hello.” Night Lan timidly greeted.
Mo Yu examined her for a few moments, gasping in surprise.
“I see your aura. You’re cute. Want to hang out with me?”
“???”
Looking closely, the loli was actually quite adorable, making Mo Yu feel a little infatuated.
Cough, cough, he was not one for loli fantasies.
But Night Lan was indeed cute.
Pointing that out again, he truly wasn’t interested in such fantasies.
“Gulp!”
A hint of fear flashed through Night Lan’s azure eyes, her body instinctively stepping back half a step, perhaps feeling a bit threatened.
Could this guy not be a Night Watcher but instead a human trafficker?
Mo Yu twitched his lips, “You backing away is for real?”
Sometimes, even slight actions can really hurt.
