Chapter 20: Humans are Indeed Interesting
It was already past eight when Night Star Lan got home.
“Whew… I should hurry up and take a shower before flopping into bed,” she said to herself as she prepared to step inside.
Just then, a faint ghostly figure suddenly darted out from the darkness.
“RUA!”
“Ugh!”
Night Star Lan’s hair stood on end as she jumped back in shock and landed flat on the floor.
Thud!
“My b*tt hurts!”
With teary eyes, Night Star Lan was ready to unleash her wrath.
And there she was—the mischievous culprit who scared her, floating in front of her with a smug look on her face. It was none other than the Ghost Girl, Eypar.
Eypar seemed to be thoroughly enjoying Night Star’s reaction, sporting a delightful grin.
It was clear she wasn’t going to pass up any chance for a prank, especially when it came to Night Star, her favorite target.
Glaring at Eypar with her puffy cheeks, Night Star looked like she wanted to swallow Eypar whole like a jelly.
“Why do you have to do that?! It’s so scary!”
“Hehe~”
“What does ‘hehe’ even mean?!”
Night Star Lan sprang to her feet, wanting to choke Eypar for her antics, but her hands passed right through.
Eypar watched curiously, her little tuft of hair forming a question mark above her head.
“Do you want to touch me, Night Star?”
“Well, if I could, I’d definitely give you a proper lesson!”
After mumbling that, Night Star’s anger began to dissipate.
She was basically a shallow little fish when it came to anger; it didn’t last long.
If it wasn’t something truly outrageous, there was no point in exploding with rage.
“When did you get here?” Night Star asked, sitting on her bed and taking off her shoes to reveal her dainty, snowy feet wrapped in white stockings.
Eypar floated closer and said, “I think I got here around six. I thought you’d be back by now.”
“So you’ve been waiting here all this time?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Two whole hours… Sorry for the trouble.”
Thinking about Eypar being alone in the pitch-black room for so long made Night Star feel a little guilty.
If only she could play with something to pass the time! But as a ghost, she couldn’t touch anything; she could only glide through it.
Yet Eypar didn’t seem to care at all, still wearing a cheerful smile as her fluffy hair bounced excitedly.
“It’s no trouble; I’m used to it! Time doesn’t mean much to me. In a way, I’m immortal! I’ve gotten quite accustomed to hanging around in one place for a long time.”
“Well, that’s impressive.”
Night Star grabbed a drink from the fridge and opened it, chugging straight from the bottle without a hint of elegance.
“Ahh~ So refreshing.”
Eypar floated over, curiously staring at Night Star’s rather barbaric drinking posture, clearly amazed.
Night Star glanced at her and asked, “Oh? Want some?”
Eypar shook her head.
“I can’t drink and I don’t need to; I’m just curious how someone as cute as you drinks so… aggressively!”
This likely referred to drinking straight from the bottle instead of using a cup.
“When I’m at home, I just do whatever I want! No one’s watching, so why care about appearances?”
“Uh-huh, I see.” Eypar’s curiosity was satisfied.
Night Star returned the large bottle to the fridge, then sat back on her bed and slowly began to peel off her stockings.
As her gaze lowered, she could see Eypar’s delicate, pale feet, stepping gently on the soft pink carpet, with pink fluff getting stuck between her snowy toes, looking like a delicious scoop of ice cream—constantly giving off a tempting vibe.
Once Night Star finally removed all her stockings, she was left wearing a short-sleeved top and a short skirt, the perfect casual home outfit.
During this process, Eypar watched quietly, resembling an adorable little puppy.
“Ah~”
Removing the extra clothes suddenly made Night Star feel relaxed, a cool breeze brushing against her smooth skin, sending a little shiver down her spine.
Then she turned to Eypar, “So, what do you want to do now?”
“Hmm… I don’t know. I just wanted to come and chat with you.”
Night Star pondered for a moment.
“Okay, wait for me! I’ll take a quick shower first. Want to watch a movie?”
“Uh-huh~”
Night Star casually put on one of her favorite movies for Eypar, then grabbed some fresh clothes and headed into the bathroom.

Inside the bathroom.
Splash!
After washing her hair, Night Star sank into the bathtub with a blissful expression.
“So relaxing~”
After a long day, nothing was more anticipated than a hot bath.
Too bad Night Lan wasn’t there; double the fun was totally lost.
Well, Night Lan was also busy bathing across the hall, the door securely locked.
Just in case the airheaded Lan Feng Su Yu barged in to shower with her. That would be truly terrifying.
Night Lan certainly had no doubts that she would do just that.
However, at that moment, the corners of Night Star’s mouth twitched in sync with Night Lan across the way.
“This brat…”
Night Watcher Base.
Night Lan, ghosting in the bathtub, stared blankly at the blurred figure outside the door.
Lan Feng Su Yu’s voice chimed in.
“Eh~ Why did you lock the door, Night Lan? Isn’t it better to shower together? Open the door!”
Night Star’s lips curled into a smirk, then she leaned back with a satisfied expression, as if she had seen this coming.
What’s it called again? Predicting—yeah, that’s the word.
That pink-dyed little dynamo definitely wanted to get all touchy-feely, and Night Lan wasn’t going to give her the chance.
“No, it’s fine. I’ll be done soon.”
“What a letdown…”
Night Lan’s lips twitched in exasperation as she submerged half her face in the water, exhaling deeply.
Gurgle, gurgle~
What the heck was that girl expecting?
To protect her dignity, she definitely had to be more on guard.
Just as Night Star was blowing bubbles in the water, a gray-white head suddenly popped up from the surface.
“Rooaar!”
“Ugh!!”
Night Star shot out of the bathtub like a rocket, summoning every bit of speed bestowed by the stars.
In a split second, she jumped into the corner of the bathroom.
Night Lan, soaking in her bath, mirrored her swift move.
Outside the door, Lan Feng Su Yu, hearing the commotion, called out anxiously, “What’s wrong, Night Lan? Do you need help?”
Night Lan’s lips twitched, and she pressed her chest, trying to calm her racing heart while pretending to be at ease.
“N-no, it’s nothing! I’m, uh, getting ready to finish up!”
“Is that so?” Lan Feng Su Yu’s tone was mildly suspicious.
From the sounds, it seemed like Night Lan was startled by something scary; that must be pretty terrifying.
But since Night Lan said it was nothing, she’d take her word for it.
“Then I won’t disturb you. I’ll be on my way!”
Hearing Lan Feng Su Yu leave, Night Lan let out a breath of relief and sank back into the bath, starting to stew in her irritation.
Meanwhile, on the other side.
“Ugh…”
Night Star glared at the giggling Eypar floating in mid-air, wanting nothing more than to take a bite out of her.
“Ahahaha~ Humans are indeed interesting~”
“The limits of a person’s patience are not boundless, you know! Kora!”
