# Chapter 26: The Stability of a Triangle
“Brother Yun, please take this spirit stone. It’s not much, but neither my disagreement with Brother Yun nor my own share of responsibility should be shouldered by you alone.”
Lin Zhongyu shyly pushed her tiny purse into Yun Zhonghe’s hand. It was exquisitely embroidered with a lotus flower, quite fitting for her delicate nature.
“If Brother Yun refuses to accept it, then I can’t in good conscience carry this ice heart grass.”
Lin Zhongyu smiled slightly, her sincere eyes never leaving Yun Zhonghe’s face.
Yun Zhonghe nodded, knowing he couldn’t rush things. After all, dealing with girls took time and finesse to smooth out the wrinkles in their personalities. If he tried to force it, they’d end up hurting each other.
So he took her spirit stones.
Of course, Lin Zhongyu had no idea how much cloud nine the spirit stones actually cost, including a bit of her dowry.
But don’t get too carried away with sincerity.
In reality, Lin Zhongyu didn’t need to worry about Yun Zhonghe losing anything. Whatever he fed to Huang Aotian would just come right back at him like a boomerang.
…
“Baka! Baka! Baka! How could you be so mean to me for that guy…”
Mu Jixue had been curled up in bed for an entire day, not thinking about tea or food. She was shedding tiny pearls as she buried her face in the pillow, feeling more heartbroken than words could describe.
Yet Mu Jixue did not hate Lin Zhongyu. She felt some regret, knowing she couldn’t shake her fidgety nature, something her master had criticized her for more than once.
“I really think that Yunn fellow is dangerous, and it’s written in the Book of Prophecy too. Why doesn’t Xiao Yu believe me?”
“Maybe I’m wrong? But the fact is, he’s helped Xiao Yu a lot.”
So Mu Jixue understood Xiao Yu’s anger, yet she couldn’t convince herself.
“Should I apologize to Xiao Yu on my own? If I don’t do anything, and that yellow-haired guy is really faking his personality, wouldn’t I let him win?”
“Xiao Yu might be in serious danger…”
Mu Jixue struggled with these conflicting thoughts until finally, she sat up, determined to drop her self-respect and make amends. No matter what, Xiao Yu was her closest ally.
So the white-haired loli crawled out of bed, sneaking towards the door.
Just as she opened it, she saw Lin Zhongyu, ready to knock on it.
“Xiao Yu? (,,•́ . •̀,,)”
“Snower…”
The two locked eyes in shock, but in the next second, the white-haired loli’s big, dewy eyes filled with tears.
“Xiao Yu! Xiao Yu, you finally came to see me! I thought you wouldn’t even acknowledge me anymore! Boo hoo…”
Like a child yet to grow up, she lunged into Lin Zhongyu’s arms and erupted into tears.
The strong one inside was now pouring out her heartache.
Held by Mu Jixue, Lin Zhongyu couldn’t help but smile with relief, her heart feeling “all better.”
She thanked Yun Zhonghe for pushing her to reconcile with Mu Jixue. Without him, she might have never made up with her, leaving a permanent rift between them.
Now she felt grateful for coming over.
Brother Yun is truly my savior.
“Snower, sorry, today during the day, I was off with my attitude. I’m apologizing to you. Can you forgive me?” Lin Zhongyu caressed Mu Jixue’s soft hair, expressing her regret.
Mu Jixue shook her head vigorously, wiped her tiny tears, and said, “No, it was me. I shouldn’t have gotten mad, nor should I have said bad things about others. Xiao Yu, I truly regret this.”
Mu Jixue was always a favorite of the Lin family, beautiful like a porcelain doll, seemingly fragile. Now that she was crying, Lin Zhongyu felt both heartbroken and guilty.
“Can we still be as close as before?” Lin Zhongyu blinked her eyes, hopeful.
Mu Jixue answered without hesitation, “Of course! We can always be the best sisters ever!”
She finally smiled brightly, her eyes curving like a crescent moon.
“Oh right, I have something for you, as a gesture, it’ll probably benefit you.”
Lin Zhongyu held Mu Jixue’s hand, placing the iceheart grass under cover.
Suddenly, Mu Jixue felt a strong thirst from her spirit root.
What’s this? Even the rank two bone root pill my teacher gave me can’t compare to this pull.
“It’s a rank three iceheart grass that can enhance your ice-based spirit root potential. This is…”
Lin Zhongyu remembered Yun Zhonghe told her to not reveal that he gifted this, asking her to say it was a lucky find. Yet, she hesitated and decided to tell the truth.
“Brother Yun asked me to specifically pass this to you because he feels bad for the discord between us.”
“What? Really?!”
Mu Jixue widened her eyes, disbelief all over her cute face.
“Definitely true!” Lin Zhongyu placed the iceheart grass in her arms. “Take it quickly, don’t let the spiritual energy dissipate.”
“But…”
Mu Jixue was conflicted, but Xiaoyu anticipated and blocked every refusal attempt.
Yet, if Yun Zhonghe truly had designs on Xiao Yu, why would he go through such lengths? He already manipulated them, making direct moves easier.
Mu Jixue was confused and began doubting her judgment, wondering if she and the Prophecy were both incorrect.
Seeing doubt in Mu Jixue’s eyes, Lin Zhongyu knew she was reflecting. A perfect moment to clean up Yun Zhonghe’s name.
“Snower, Yun brother isn’t who you think. I’m not asking for immediate acceptance, but at least not baseless criticism, understand?”
“If Snower, you’re really worried, why don’t you trust me?”
“And don’t forget, I’m not weak, I won’t let you stay ahead forever!”
Lin Zhongyu sighed and reasoned. Changing a mind like Mu Jixue’s would take time. All she needed was for Mu Jixue to see Yun Zhonghe’s true colors.
Mu Jixue pursed her lips and nodded, “Xiao Yu, you’re right, I’ll listen this time ¦•ˇ₃ˇ•。).”
With her answer, Lin Zhongyu finally relaxed.
She felt a little tired—managing relations between Mu Jixue and Yun Zhonghe demanded effort.
