Chapter 470: The Power of the Chaos Divine Stone
Well, this little misunderstanding event was finally settled down like a cat napping on a sunny windowsill.
The girls knew what was what, clearer than water in a glass. But our charming Yun Zhonghe decided to take the blame upon himself, claiming his cultivation flub impacted them, which made it so they also acted all out of sorts. Cute little gesture, right? I mean, who wants to feel awkward when you can just blame it all on a guy?
With Yun Zhonghe’s sincere charm almost overflowing to the brim, the girls had nothing left to say. They weren’t going to put on their “Yeah, we definitely can’t escape now!” faces just to feel better.
…
Two days later—
The news of Yun Zhonghe and Su Xiaoxiao being promoted to Inner Gate Disciples rolled out like a freshly baked croissant. No more trudging off to Outer Gate classes for them!
But since they hadn’t decided which peak of the Inner Gate they were supposed to head to, they got to stick around in their Outer Gate digs for some self-training. They were waiting for the official stamp, but, come on, everyone knew the deal was already done.
On that day of confusion when Yun Zhonghe bumped into Su Xiaoxiao, she had just returned from Forge Peak. Clearly, she’d been chatting with Master Zhuhuo about becoming a direct disciple. Although Su Xiaoxiao didn’t spill the beans, judging by her state, things must have gone smoothly.
During the few days they slacked at home, Yun Zhonghe figured he’d not only keep up with regular training but also dig into the powers of the Chaos Divine Stone.
With a helping hand from Tao Jiu’er (who had been released from the hospital the very night Yun Zhonghe knocked her silly), he started to understand the special mental powers granted by this funky stone.
Firstly, the Chaos Divine Stone could perfectly cloak Yun Zhonghe’s spiritual energy. Wrapped in a shadowy package around the spiritual pearl, other cultivators couldn’t even begin to grasp his spiritual level, making all of his spiritual attacks invisible. It was like casting stealth mode in a video game!
Yun Zhonghe was absolutely tickled by this newfound ability. When he unleashed his Spiritual Long Blade, it would be like a ninja strike—silent and deadly—his opponents wouldn’t even have a chance to raise their defenses.
Then there was another delightful discovery. When the Spiritual Long Blade got a splash of Chaos power, it turned into a sleek black sword with a dash of corrosion capability. If it once grazed the opponent’s Sea of Consciousness, it could eat away at their mental state, even if it didn’t deal massive damage.
Now, this was getting serious!
For tons of cultivators, the spirit was everything! Especially for those spellcasters and the budding Confucian practitioners who were practically glued to their mental prowess. A normal spiritual attack might knock someone on their b*tt, but the idea of corrosion sounded a bit like psychological warfare!
Though, the mental corrosion ability was still in its baby stages. According to Yun Zhonghe and Tao Jiu’er’s tests, any cultivator with just Initial Understanding could resist it. But he could tell that it was slowly powering up. Maybe someday even those in the Meditation Phase wouldn’t be able to counter it.
Oh, what a splendid secret weapon this was turning out to be!
However, here came the kicker: after adding the corrosion effect to his Spiritual Long Blade, one of the spiritual pearls in his Sea of Consciousness literally lost its black touch. It was like trying to sell a haunted house only to discover the ghost left. Great—was the power of the Chaos Divine Stone a limited-time offer?
But come the next morning, the blackness was back! Phew, crisis averted. If it had a cooldown like a video game power-up, that would have been a downer.
Summarizing his sweet new skills, Yun Zhonghe figured out three key things about the Chaos Divine Stone:
1. It can cloak his spiritual energy.
2. It can toss in some corrosion effects to his spiritual attacks.
3. It gives a solid boost to his mental fortitude.
Each of these powers was like finding a golden ticket in a chocolate bar!
He was absolutely convinced that the Chaos Divine Stone was a miraculous gem. If not for its pesky uncertainties, it would be all the rage among cultivators.
But thanks to its complex unpredictability, most cultivators decided to pass it up, and it faded into obscurity. That is, until Mu Jixue, our girl Huang Aotian, sensed its magic and pulled it from obscurity to gift it to Yun Zhonghe, freeing it from its dusty treasure trove.
Yeah, that decision came with a load of extra hassle for Yun Zhonghe, but at least he was reaping big rewards!
…
“Ahh… as expected, the power of the Chaos Divine Stone can keep getting better!”
After two days and nights of tinkering, Yun Zhonghe dived deeper into understanding this stone. He discovered that blending the stone’s powers from two spiritual pearls yielded even more power.
He labeled the initial stone power as Rank One; merging two Rank Ones gave him Rank Two, and so on. However, the fusion drained his spiritual energy like a vacuum cleaner on full throttle!
When he tried to push past Rank Three to Rank Four, he hit a wall. Maybe it was because of his current mental state. If he could break into the Nurturing Nature stage, he could forge Rank Four power.
The Rank Three power stuck to his spiritual attacks, giving them a slight boost, but not much more than when it was Rank One—though the corrosion effect kicked up a notch.
Unless you were in Nurturing Nature or higher, you simply couldn’t resist Yun Zhonghe’s mental corrosion anymore.
Through all of his trials, Yun Zhonghe noted that when he depleted or fused stone power, there’d be gaps in his spiritual pearls. Luckily, the next day they’d be back to full with shiny new Rank One powers, but there was a limit to how many he could recover in a day.
He could only restore ten at most, and if all of his pearls were tapped out, tough luck until he had some vacancies!
As it stood, Yun Zhonghe had twelve pearls decked out with Rank Three power, five with Rank Two, and ten hanging out at Rank One, leaving twenty-two in the lab for trial and error.
And wow, was he a genius when it came to understanding all this! Nearly cracking the mysteries of the Chaos Divine Stone in just two days was nothing short of miraculous!
“Tomorrow we’re heading into the Four Beasts Secret Realm. With the power of the Chaos Divine Stone in my back pocket, I might just strike gold in there!”
Just thinking about stepping into the Four Beasts Secret Realm had Yun Zhonghe buzzing with excitement. Who knows what treasures awaited? At the very least, he’s sure his abilities would get a significant facelift!
