Chapter 498: No Match for the Shadow
The black shadow personally led a team of demon cultivators straight into the Outer Gate territory of the Xuantian Sect, turning everything upside down.
The clashing of swords, the thunderous sounds of spells, and the mournful cries echoed constantly.
Despite being bathed in such commotion, the black shadow strolled leisurely with his hands behind his back, seemingly ignoring all around him.
His target was singular, and whatever wasn’t related to that goal was out of his consideration.
Whether it was the righteous path getting trounced or the demonic path obliterated, he might as well have been watching a play.
As his black robes and long hair swirled in the wind, he slowly walked through the Outer Gate grounds, a faint smile playing on his lips. His deep red eyes, impossible to read, were brimming with infinite cruelty.
But then, his steps suddenly halted.
Without moving an inch, the black demonic aura around him seemed to turn into substantial claws, suddenly grabbing at the air beside him.
There was a massive explosion, like a giant mountain being crushed, shaking the heavens and earth.
“How interesting, I didn’t expect this world still has talents like this,” the black shadow said nonchalantly, his bloodshot eyes sweeping to the side.
A few dozen meters away, a slim but sturdy figure stepped through invisible waves.
It was Li Yifeng!
He had rushed to the Outer Gate upon receiving the distress signal, his heart ignited with rage at the sight of its devastated state.
No one had anticipated how many demon cultivators were lurking in the Outer Gate.
However, there was some consolation as they found no casualties yet, only severe injuries. The competition within the sect had greatly increased their overall strength.
Li Yifeng slashed his way from the Inner Gate to here, only to see someone radiating thick, ominous black energy in front of him. This individual was fundamentally different from the other demons he had defeated.
Was it a higher-up in the demonic sect? Or even the leader?
But undoubtedly, an extremely dangerous foe!
Why would such a powerful demonic cultivator be wandering in the Outer Gate instead of the Inner Gate?
His heart sank, but there was no time for much thought. Having such a figure in the Outer Gate meant countless deaths were inevitable.
He had to intercept this person!
Spiritual Energy erupted like a surge from his spiritual roots, and a Heavenly Heavy Sword appeared out of thin air in his hand, its sword qi swirling and charging in a tidal wave towards the black shadow.
“Interesting, you know the gap in power and yet insist on facing it head-on, aren’t you afraid of dying?”
The black shadow looked at Li Yifeng and laughed, “An ant is still an ant, even if it’s a bit bigger, it’s still an ant.”
The black shadow didn’t even lift a finger; merely by his aura, he overturned the tidal wave and sent it back at Li Yifeng, counter-attacking!
The bizarre technique made Li Yifeng’s eyes narrow.
The tide reversed, striking him in the chest before he could dodge. Black obsidian light burst forth from the black shadow.
“d*e!”
The black shadow growled, and instantly, Li Yifeng felt the space around him converge, as if crushing him.
“Go to hell!”
Li Yifeng roared, muscles bulging as his bl**d surged. With a violent explosion, he tore apart the collapsing space with sheer physical strength.
Pfft!
The dark blade aimed at his head grazed his shoulder, spraying bl**d, but he narrowly escaped.
Incredible!
Li Yifeng’s face darkened. The black shadow gave him the creeps—unlike the early stages of transformation, where Li Yifeng still had confidence in surviving, here he saw no hope against the black shadow.
Especially since the other seemed so nonchalant.
“k*ll!”
Black shadow raised an eyebrow slightly, his voice low. Suddenly, Li Yifeng felt something intangible grab his shoulder.
His face changed when he felt a trace of demonic energy invade his wound.
Even such a small amount of demonic energy held such power?!
“Argh!!!”
Li Yifeng was tossed up at high speed, aiming to crash into the ground. He hurriedly tore his own flesh off, barely freeing himself from being bound by self-mutilation.
He knew—this guy was beyond his means.
Just then, familiar voices called out!
Zhao Lingxiao… along with several geniuses.
They all came from the Eight Peaks, the maximum support available to quell the demonic invasion.
“Some backup?” The black shadow sneered, “It won’t do any good.”
As a group rapidly advanced, the black shadow’s demonic energy surged like arrows piercing through them!
The others were shocked; just as they prepared to attack, the demonic energy struck again!
Zhao Lingxiao and the rest froze, demonic energy slicing through them, slamming them to the ground.
“Aaaaah!”
Two geniuses were flattened like bloody puddings, motionless.
Li Yifeng struggled to his feet, breathing heavily. Seeing his fallen brothers, he was livid.
“Goddamn demons…”
But before he could finish, the black shadow flickered right in front of him.
Li Yifeng’s eyes widened, trying to dodge, but the black shadow already had him covered, slapping him on the spine!
Bang!
Like a broken kite, he flew backwards, crashing down. Li Yifeng groaned in pain, sweat beading his forehead, though his body was strong, that slap seemed to shatter his spine.
“Not bad, physically. Had it been anyone else, they’d be dead by now. You’re still kicking.”
The black shadow looked at him coldly, waving his hand, and Li Yifeng’s body flew uncontrollably towards the black shadow, who grabbed his throat.
“Good,” the black shadow smiled, nodding approvingly. “Before I get my power, it’s nice to test yours first.”
Li Yifeng, eyes wide, couldn’t speak—he could feel his innate power being siphoned, being absorbed by this black shadow.
This fundamental life source tied to his very existence—if taken, Li Yifeng would perish!
The black shadow smirked, his other hand pressing down on Li Yifeng’s dantian.
Just as he was about to take it!
Boom!
Sudden turbulence in the sea of consciousness.
The black shadow paused momentarily.
Simultaneously, dazzling golden sword light streaked toward his arm, spraying bl**d!
A familiar golden light!
Yun Zhonghe?!
