### Chapter 509: Even if I Get Humiliated, Xiaoxiao, Don’t Lose Your Temper
The Demon Clan, although they resemble humans in appearance, have some inherent differences.
Almost every Demon Clan member is a natural-born powerhouse, whether in terms of physical strength or the quality of their spiritual roots. On average, they far surpass human cultivators.
To put it simply, the average geniuses among human cultivators would only be considered petty talents compared to the Demon Clan. The geniuses from large family lineages might barely match the average Demon’s talent level.
Of course, such exceptional individual talent comes with a downside. Infertility and barrenness are very common among the Demon Clan, leading to severe underpopulation.
Therefore, even though individual Demon Clan members are incredibly strong, they can’t match the sheer numbers and overall power of human cultivators.
Legend has it that back in ancient times, both Demon and Human Clans lived in what was then called the Human Domain. However, during an ancient conflict known as the Great War, humans defeated demons and drove them out to what is now called the Demon Domain. Since then, the two clans have had little interaction.
Historical tensions have also left relations between the two clans less than friendly.
It’s rumored that this background greatly complicates the plot. Any misstep could enrage the Demon Clan, leading to Huang Aotian and the female lead being brutally murdered.
“Her Highness ordered you to wake up and come meet her.”
The Demon stood before Yun Zhonghe and Su Xiaoxiao, his emaciated hand opening the stone cell door ominously. “If you don’t want to suffer, get out here calmly. Your cultivation levels have been sealed; you’re fish on a cutting board. Best not try anything sneaky.”
With the Demon’s warning, Yun Zhonghe and Su Xiaoxiao realized their cultivation levels were indeed compromised. They initially assumed it was due to exhaustion from fighting the Black Shadow, but it turned out their weakened state was also because their cultivation had been sealed.
Escaping or causing trouble right now would surely lead to a dead end.
Yun Zhonghe, who’s flexible when it comes to the bottom line, was surprisingly patient when dealing with the unimpressed Mu Jixue. He could endure this minor predicament easily.
Plus, trying to act tough would just result in pointless suffering. So, Yun Zhonghe stood up first, stepping out of the cell obediently—and almost eagerly.
Su Xiaoxiao, feeling nervous, followed silently behind him.
“Hahaha, you’re wise. Don’t cause trouble. The entire Spirit Palace is within Her Highness’ awareness. Any inappropriate move will invite Her Highness’ wrath. Understand?”
The Demon said with a sinister grin.
Yun Zhonghe and Su Xiaoxiao nodded meekly.
This Demon kept referring to “her highness,” likely hinting at the “Demon Sovereign” mentioned in the notes.
Yun Zhonghe, having played through countless cycles without ever meeting the Demon Sovereign, was quite curious about her appearance.
Moreover, how powerful was the Demon Sovereign? She should be at least at the Divine Transformation stage, but considering the Demon’s superior innate talents and her position as the main ruler of Demon World, she must be an exceptional prodigy. No wonder she’s so powerful.
While pondering these thoughts, Yun Zhonghe followed the Demon up the long stone stairs.
He noticed Su Xiaoxiao looked extremely uneasy, her eyes trembling nervously, almost reverting to her former social anxiety.
Though Yun Zhonghe wanted to comfort her, he was barely holding it together himself. After a moment’s thought, he decided to say, “Xiaoxiao, relax. No matter what happens, I’ll protect you with all my might. If the Demon Clan dares harm you, they’ll have to step over my body first…”
Su Xiaoxiao, reading his gaze, felt touched. Despite his own peril, Yun Zhonghe prioritized protecting her.
She wouldn’t let him down!
With newfound determination, fears dissipated, and her shaking ceased.
She stared at Yun Zhonghe resolutely, “Rest assured, Brother Yun, I won’t fear. Even facing the Demon Clan, I won’t waver!”
Yun Zhonghe:
Actually, a bit more fear wouldn’t hurt…
Yun Zhonghe grimaced. He didn’t want Su Xiaoxiao to charge blindly into danger.
Remember, this side quest can only be resolved by cowering, compromising, and avoiding direct confrontation. Otherwise, it leads to certain d*ath.
Even Huang Aotian meets her demise when acting recklessly; Yun Zhonghe certainly has no hope against overwhelming odds.
Just like the Black Shadow once mentioned, Yun Zhonghe has no lucky aura. Even he couldn’t k*ll the Black Shadow.
Thus, Yun Zhonghe concluded, since direct confrontation is impossible, cowering is his only option. At least here in the Demon Domain, shame is better than nothing. Maybe the Demons will show mercy if he humbles himself fast enough.
Particularly, he’d protect Su Xiaoxiao, whom Mu Jixue entrusted.
With this realization, Yun Zhonghe calmed down, his brows relaxing and his demeanor becoming more composed.
“Xiaoxiao, this is the Demon Domain, home to the Demon Clan. Regardless of any situation, stay calm and don’t anger the Demon Clan…even if I get humiliated, don’t lose your temper. Clear?”
Yun Zhonghe emphasized with heartfelt concern.
Su Xiaoxiao was taken aback, seeing his calm expression and firm resolve. Could it be…she couldn’t ponder further as they arrived at a wide boulevard.
The road was vast enough for four horse-drawn carriages to travel side by side simultaneously.
Ahead, they saw a grand palace looming majestically, its grandeur surrounded by swirling spiritual energy.
True enough, despite being the Demon Domain, the spiritual energy here is pure, albeit turbulent, much like righteous cultivation energy rather than the evil essence of demonic cultivators.
“Hahaha, let’s go, it’s not far to Her Highness’ palace. Wouldn’t do to keep Her Highness waiting, would it?”
Yun Zhonghe & Su Xiaoxiao:
You call this ‘not far’?
Feels like walking from the Xuantian Sect’s Outer Gate to the peak of Xuantian Mountain.
Previously, the distance wasn’t much to them. But now, weak and sealed off from cultivations, this long journey might just deplete them utterly.
And Yun Zhonghe might crack from exhaustion first. Despite their lack of endurance compared to Su Xiaoxiao, who relies on bodily strength more than he does.
However, in the next moment, Yun Zhonghe fully grasped what “not far” meant.
Just as they took their first steps, entering a peculiar domain, their surroundings transformed. The palace’s steps appeared right before their eyes!
Looking up, its grandeur seemed doubled!
In front of the door, the three of them looked like ants.
This palace was at least three to four times larger than the sect leader’s hall in the Xuantian Sect!
