Chapter 8: Gan Yan Yu’s House Cleaning Extravaganza
The video showed Gan Yan Yu, wearing nothing but a black suspender, squatting on the floor and pointing at the gas cylinder in Lin Tian’s house. The look on her face was concerned yet silent, suggesting Lin Tian was in class and might have left his phone on, so she was worried about him.
She put a hand under her chin, making a puzzled expression. “Little punk!!!”
Xu Yong next to her suddenly got all fired up.
He grabbed onto Lin Tian’s arm with bloodshot eyes bulging out, “Who is this beauty?! What is she doing in your house?!”
Lin Tian was taken aback.
He really didn’t expect Gan Yan Yu to send him a message now.
Wait, what does she want with my gas canister?!
Is she planning to k*ll herself in the kitchen?!
Suddenly, fear crept into Lin Tian’s heart.
Given Gan Yan Yu’s state of mind, it wasn’t impossible!
This morning, she smiled happily as if she had agreed to something, but actually, she had been planning to d*e in his house the moment he leaves out the door!
d*mn brat, you don’t let me jump off buildings then?
Just at your place, just at your place, just at your place, she said.
Tomorrow, it’s your turn to think about jumping off buildings!
What a vicious plan!
“Stop being like that! Say something!”
Seeing Lin Tian stand there like an idiot, Xu Yong was desperate.
Desperate enough to jump up and down, almost in tears!
“Please, man, explain yourself! I’ll believe anything you say!”
“Just leave me alone,” grumbled Lin Tian, annoyed, already troubled himself.
“It’s nothing. She’s just the granddaughter of the old man downstairs. She took a shower, had some alcohol, and slept over last night.”
“Wut?”
Lin Tian ignored Xu Yong and sent out a quick message:
“What are you doing with the gas?”
“Frying two dishes.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
Gan Yan Yu continued,
“To be honest, I wanted to cook for you tonight as practice.”
Hearing this, Lin Tian finally calmed down. After all, this was something Gan Yan Yu would do.
“You said we were going out to eat instead?”
“Making it myself shows more effort.”
“But I have to work tonight. No time to go home, have to eat out.”
That job was hard-earned for Lin Tian, he had to go.
After all, he hadn’t seen a dime in a week.
Especially yesterday, after spending a few hundred bucks on a potential partner at Foot Bath City, if he didn’t work soon, he wouldn’t have money for food next week.
He’d work for two hours, and have Xu Yong cover for him, leaving early—still, it won’t ruin dinner with Gan Yan Yu.
“Alright.”
A while later, just those two words from her text.
Since it was just text sans emojis, Lin Tian couldn’t guess her mood.
But cautiously, he sent another,
“I work on the commercial street opposite the school, near Jiefang Road subway. There’s a café. If you’re bored, you can wait there before I come.”
“Okay.”
Putting his phone away, Lin Tian heaved a sigh.
He turned around and saw Xu Yong, who’d apparently transformed into King Gorilla, fully red-faced.
“Oh, I get it.”
Xu Yong adjusted his glasses, pointing upwards,
“That young lady must be the one you picked up in the Foot Bath City’s ‘Recall the Fresh Youth – High School Uniform Massage’ 699 package! They really dress up well, I tell ya!”
“Holy cow, you even know that package.”
Lin Tian was shocked; that guy knew it by heart.
“No way. He’s from our school. Girl from Class B next door. She’s been on leave recently. We just met.”
“You’re lying. I know every cute girl in our school and the color of their panties. I’ve never seen her before!”
“She just got back from abroad!”
“She’s a foreigner, d*mn you!”
Traveling abroad makes you a foreigner, huh? Taking money to bed makes me a superhero.
“Xu Yong!”
At this point, the math teacher on the podium tapped the blackboard.
Xu Yong jolted.
“Here!”
He stood up hastily.
“What’s so funny?”
The teacher straightened his glasses,
“Solve this inequality.”
In a flash, Xu Yong’s world collapsed.
Meanwhile, at Lin Tian’s place…
After tucking her phone away, Gan Yan Yu squatted on the floor, staring at the kitchen.
Not coming back huh.
Not easy taking care of oneself.
Doesn’t he have parents?
Looking at the dusty TV stand, greasy kitchen table, everything showed neglect.
Though worn-out, the items were neatly arranged. Not bad for a solo dweller.
Something stirred within Gan Yan Yu.
How long has he lived alone like this?
So lonely too.
Seeing this, Gan Yan Yu stood up.
Well, she didn’t have much meaning left to her life anyway.
Why not do more for Lin Tian before she goes?
She put on gloves, mask, and tied an apron, then opened the windows wide.
Cleaning mode activated!
Girl grabbed a broom and tackled the whole place inside out—under sofas, tables, you name it!
Once she swept everything, she pulled out a rag and scrubbed doors, windows, cabinets clean.
When living with her grandpa, she did most of the chores.
These things she could handle!
Even though she meticulously cleaned, Gan Yan Yu conveniently skipped two parts.
First was Lin Tian’s room.
She didn’t budge.
Curiosity drove her, but entering a teen boy’s room was a no-no.
Flipping pages of stuff on display would be mortifying.
So, she closed the door again.
Second, was about placing objects.
She put them back where they started.
She knew arranging things for many guys didn’t matter much—sometimes looks random but organized in their eyes.
Mismatched tidying could mess stuff up worse.
These lessons came from grandpa.
Two hours later.
Gazing at the spotless room, Gan Yan Yu planted her hands on hips, satisfied grin on her face.
Lin Tian will be shocked when he comes back!
Checking time: noon.
Another afternoon left.
Then, a thought struck—
That cafe Lin mentioned, she vaguely remembered—it was the only one in that strip.
She searched on her phone map, then bit her lip, deep in thought.
Back when helping grandpa’s café, she baked sweets—okay at it.
Since no time to eat,
Maybe bake something and bring it along?
