Chapter 20 – It’s All in the Cards
“Warning! Warning!”
The moment the Group Leader unleashed the Star Eclipses’ waves, alarms blared throughout the Night Watcher Base.
“Pfft!”
Cai Xun and Bu Jie, who were scarfing down noodles in the cafeteria, spat out their food straight into each other’s faces.
“d*mn it! Why are you so disgusting, Doggy?”
“Bloody hell! Who are you to talk?”
They quickly whipped out tissues to clean their faces, their expressions turning serious.
The sirens indicated that the Star Eclipses had appeared, and it was time for the Night Watchers to mobilize.
White Paint stood up from her seat by the side.
“Let’s go.”
Command Center.
Staff members quickly located the wave source near Wan Yu Square, close to where the Tragic Shadow Theater had last appeared, solving the mystery.
Once more, it was the Tragic Shadow Theater!
Xiao Jin calmly observed the information on the screen, also preparing to head to the scene.
But then, an operator let out a terrified shout.
“There are five Star Eclipses! Initially thought it might be other members of the Tragic Shadow Theater! There are new members!”
“What?!”
Xiao Jin’s pupils widened slightly.
“The other members of the Tragic Shadow Theater? Huh, I didn’t know that organization had new members!”
His muscles tensed instantly, feeling that this alarm should be maxed out.
Previously, the Tragic Shadow Theater was already troublesome, on par with the Supernova Star Eclipses. With two unknown Star Eclipses added now, things became even more dangerous.
If five Star Eclipses erupted simultaneously, it would spell total destruction!
Leaving the room, he informed the other two Sunlight Night Watchers in Yun Chang City.
“Wang Chao, get ready. We have five Star Eclipses here. Your combat power is needed. You may need to swiftly destroy the higher threats.”
“Tch. Fine, fine, I’m hitting the road.”
He then reached out to another contact.
“Mo Tu, back support is required this time.”
“Whaaat? What’s happening?”
“Don’t you know?”
“I’m on leave, so naturally I don’t know, right?”
“Quit messing around. The Tragic Shadow Theater has reappeared, and there are new Star Eclipses. Could be more group members. Initial guesses suggest danger. I hope you can gather detailed information.”
There was a stunned pause from the other end.
“The Tragic Shadow Theater… no way.”
Xiao Jin, walking briskly, slowed down slightly, his voice changing tones.
“Reason?”
“Still asking? Sorry, but no interest.”
Xiao Jin’s lip twitched, practically itching to punch the guy.
“Why do you seem reluctant to get involved with the Tragic Shadow Theater? Anything I should know about?”
“Indeed, but nothing significant. I’ve checked, those five Star Eclipses won’t cause much trouble. No need to worry.”
“Aren’t you always saying the fortune-telling info can be unreliable?”
“Just say if you believe me or not?”
“I hope you’re right.”
After cutting the call, he resumed his journey to the scene.
Soon after, new updates spread among the Night Watchers.
Official channels had distributed evacuation alerts through all the smart devices in the entertainment zone.
With the excuse of “an extremely dangerous heavy weapon terrorist organization is planning an attack in this area,” people naturally left to save themselves.
Most of the entertainment zone residents had evacuated, with some lingering in the areas suspected to have Star Eclipses affecting them.
Xiao Jin faced the Group Leader; his Star Eclipses’ effects were bizarre and unrelenting.
The ordinary citizens likely froze because of the Group Leader.
“Huff…”
In the hover car, Xiao Jin took a deep breath, gearing himself up.
Five Star Eclipses—wondering if he and Wang Chao could handle the situation.
Together with others, they might stand a chance.
Yet capturing them wasn’t going to be easy.
With five members emerging, he wished they could just deter them successfully.
No need for everyone, just stopping their weird performance would help, and maybe getting info on the two newcomers for solutions later.
Meanwhile, next door to Night Star Lan.
Mo Tu stepped out of his house, eager to enjoy the spectacle.
According to the info, the Tragic Shadow Theater, with the Loli Night Star, should be around.
Thinking about it, Mo Tu got excited.
“Really looking forward to it.”
…
Entertainment Zone.
The three, including Bai Yu, who were shopping, also received news.
Bai Yu stared dumbfounded at the smart device.
“Attack?”
Zhreo Meow, however, solemnly shook his head and pulled out his Night Watcher device.
“It’s the Star Eclipses. They’ve appeared again. Could still be the Tragic Shadow Theater around here.”
Night Lan sighed, unsure what to say, already out of options.
“What else? Just wait and see.”
Bai Yu pondered, then asked, “Should we leave? They say Star Eclipses are dangerous.”
Though not a Night Watcher, Bai Yu had gleaned enough knowledge from Zero Meow about the dangers of Star Eclipses.
Night Lan timidly raised a hand.
“I agree.”
Night Lan couldn’t wait for Zero Meow and Bai Yu to leave.
Sure, just spotting the Tragic Shadow Theater remotely was okay, but recognizing Night Star amid them? It’d spell social d*ath.
Night Star’s image had changed a lot, but who would dare underestimate girls’ instincts?
However, Zero Meow seemed to have an extraordinary plan.
“How about we watch from afar?”
Night Lan covered her face, knowing this wouldn’t end well.
She already knew this mischievous Loli wouldn’t miss such an opportunity from their interactions.
“That’s not good.”
Zero Meow laughed, putting hands on hips.
“What harm will it do if we stay far away? No risk, we’ll just watch this time, protecting both of you.”
Bai Yu continued pondering, glancing over at Night Lan for input.
Night Lan mumbled, “To be safe, we could just leave here.”
Zero Meow grinned widely and promptly grabbed the hands of Bai Yu and Night Lan, running towards the Night Watcher Base with joyful laughter.
“Rarely shopping, leaving early is sad. Don’t worry, I promise we’ll only look from afar. We’ll just enjoy watching the cool moves of our seniors handling the Star Eclipses.”
Night Lan could only sigh at her predicament.
Oh well, it was all in the cards.
Only hoped the camouflage on Night Star worked on that Gentleman. Otherwise, their fate was sealed.
