Chapter 58: Symphony of the Music Academy
“Crud, this isn’t good!”
Lin Tian silently cursed, before he even had a chance to react.
“What the hell! Who said our school was bad?!”
The university students in front of him raised their hands in defiance, getting more and more riled up.
“No, you’re the one visiting our academy to criticize us?!”
“d*mn it, you dumbass high school students think you’re something special? Talk when you can get in!”
“Even though I rag on this lousy school all the time, only I am allowed to do it!”
“.”
Seeing how things were escalating from verbal to physical greetings, Lin Tian realized something was off. He grabbed Gan Yan Yu’s hand and shouted,
“RUN!”
They sprinted away with a hundred-meter dash!
“.”
Upon seeing them run, the university students were stunned.
Wait, they just ran away?
Are you not even gonna stick around, bro?!
Did you come here to steal from the university?
It wasn’t long before the students noticed the duo was loitering around the honors wall of the academy.
Why were they hanging around here for so long?
“Wait, did they steal an award cup or something?!”
One student suddenly yelled out, making everyone spring into action.
With so many cups, it’s impossible to tell which one is missing. Better to be safe than sorry.
“d*mn! CHASE THEM!”
Driven by the spirit of catching them first and asking questions later, a particularly confident student led the chase.
A bunch of guys followed him closely, chasing down Lin Tian and Gan Yan Yu.
What the—why are they chasing us?
Seeing the angry mob of students, Lin Tian was equally baffled.
Sure, his words may have been a little off, but he didn’t think they’d be chased like this.
He couldn’t risk looking back or being caught.
He kept running for his life, reminding himself that he and his buddy were in great shape from running nightly.
These dorm-bound, gaming-obsessed students hadn’t caught up to them yet.
As they ran through the hallway, they passed a room where the sound of saxophone music blared, quite like the Tom and Jerry theme, adding a comedic touch to their flight.
Then they passed a vocal room, where a majestic choir was practicing, making everything feel quite epic like watching Shafarin summon the Original Ultraman.
Next, they ran past a classroom where the teacher was still giving her lesson. When they heard someone outside causing a commotion, the students curiously peeked out, trying to figure out what all the fuss was about.
All these sounds came together in a symphony that was oddly fitting for the day.
Lin Tian, leading the pack, felt like the conductor of this chaotic orchestra.
Gan Yan Yu followed in his footsteps, feeling his grip on her hand.
Looking at his retreating back, Gan Yan Yu’s heart raced.
Without needing any explanation, a single word— “run”— meant they were in this adventure together, pushing ahead with reckless abandon.
Remembering Lin Tian’s promise to work hard together for the college entrance exam, Gan Yan Yu felt a surge of emotion.
If last time Lin Tian said “let’s both study hard for the college entrance exam” was just a motivational lie,
right now, grabbing her hand and running forward marked the start of a shared future—both aiming for the same music academy.
The university students weren’t the best athletes, just slow and dumb-brained.
But they soon devised a plan to corner Lin Tian.
Lin Tian took Gan Yan Yu up the stairs, finding a blind spot at a turning point on the third floor.
Then he burst into an empty piano room, dragging Gan Yan Yu in with him.
The door shut behind them, muffling the chaos outside.
Lin Tian sighed in relief.
Looking at Gan Yan Yu, she was panting heavily, sweat dripping from her forehead.
“Are you okay?”
Remembering she had asthma, Lin Tian asked with concern.
“I’m fine,” she panted, clutching her chest. “Running regularly, this doesn’t wear me out.”
Lin Tian looked down, realizing he still had her wrist.
He quickly let go, and they exchanged a look.
“Pfft!”
Both burst out laughing.
“You’re too much, talking bad about people’s schools so loudly. Scared stiff, right?!” Gan Yan Yu giggled while covering her mouth.
“Who knew? Just walked into them when they got off class.”
Sure, Lin Tian lost his cool, mainly because they’d been engrossed in conversation, ignoring their surroundings.
Blasting out criticism when someone’s classmates could hear felt like shouting lightning strikes at a comic convention.
Getting chased, well, wasn’t that much of a stretch.
At that moment, a voice broke the tension.
“Hey, you two…”
They turned around. On a desk with a grand piano, stood Gao Zhen Yang in confusion, with three students by his side.
“Remember telling me you ignore your surroundings when focused?” Lin Tian thought, facepalming internally. Earlier, he only saw no one in the seats below but missed the instructor.
“.”
“Gao Teacher!”
Quickly, Lin Tian approached.
Gan Yan Yu straightened herself, following.
“What’s going on out there?” Gao Zhen Yang asked.
“I don’t know, probably some tournament victory celebration?”
“Right,” Gao Zhen Yang understood. These times of the year often saw students celebrating games’ victories.
“Heads up, I was still teaching. Told you to wait down there. Guess you just rushed on up.”
He glanced at his students, then back to Lin Tian and Gan Yan Yu.
“For today’s lesson, if anything comes up, ask me next class. Got some stuff to take care of.”
“Thank you, Teacher.”
The lead student, a box-frame glasses guy, asked:
“Teacher, about my piano assignment?”
“Tomorrow evening works.”
“Alright.”
After settling the matter with the students, Gao Zhen Yang finally turned to Lin Tian and Gan Yan Yu.
“Mr. Lin, Gan Teacher, sorry for the wait. Please sit.”
The three students who turned around earlier stared blankly.
“Hang on, wait a moment. Did they just… call them teachers?”
“Hell yeah. Teachers. In music world terms,”
“Really though, seniors? Are we joking about who you are?”
“Gan Teacher, who’re these two?” Box-Glasses asked.
“These? They’re two excellent instructors, also still high schoolers.”
“High schoolers?!”
Box-Glasses was more shocked.
He looked them over again, clearly thinking it was a joke.
How did these kids qualify for this elite program? What makes them worth being considered equals to the teachers here?
“.”
“Teacher Gao, are we playing a duet now?” Gan Yan Yu chipped in.
“Exactly.”
Gao Zhen Yang stood up, offering his seat to Lin Tian. As Gan Yan Yu pulled out her cello.
Suddenly, he halted the three students.
“Just a sec, why don’t you stick around and listen in to these teachers play too?”
(To be continued!)
