### Chapter 3: Young Boy Shiyuan’s First Job (Bonus Update)
==============================
Those two big demons who had been knocked out by the pressure from Cold Moon Great King hadn’t even waited for a formal interrogation before spilling everything they knew like bamboo shoots falling from a tube.
Cold Moon herself presided over the questioning, and the results were pretty much what she had expected.
These two knuckleheads were d*e-hard subordinates of Evil Merman, and when the caves under Evil Merman’s command staged a rebellion, they figured it was time to hide and wait for an opportunity.
As soon as Evil Merman returned from his travels, they planned to strike and take out Cold Wind City from behind.
Never in their wildest dreams did they think their plan would be blown before it even started by Cold Moon Great King, who saw right through their disguise without lifting a finger. Just a terrifying spectacle unleashed by her was enough to shake them to their core. The only way to ease their torment was to confess!
They were like clowns who hadn’t even made their grand entrance before being slapped down hard.
“Lock them up first.”
After the interrogation, Cold Moon instructed.
The newly formed law enforcement unit was highly efficient, swiftly escorting these two big demons off to their new home in the cells.
The new department head was the Wolf Demon.
As one of the first to surrender from Evil Merman’s regime, his loyalty to Cold Moon was unquestionable. He played a crucial role in the Battle of Mountain Crossing Cave, which earned him this position as a reward.
As for the Tiger Demon,
Well, he was a bit slow on the uptake, but thanks to the Wolf Demon’s connections, he got a cushy gig at the newly established school as a stick-wielding coach. Might as well put him to good use, right?
And what about all those little demons that used to be under the various caves? They’d all been scattered according to Cold Wind City’s new polity regulations and were now arranged in classes of fifty for training.
The goal was to foster their sense of obedience and discipline quickly, while other skills would be developed over time.
During this busy period, Cold Moon was incredibly swamped. After all, she was the mastermind behind the city’s new regulations, and if she wanted things to go according to her plan, she had to lead from the front.
Just as she was finally able to take a breath and prepare for her next task, Little Drill Wind bustled into her office with young Shiyuan, delivering the Great King’s message in a nutshell.
As Cold Moon’s right-hand, Little Drill Wind really didn’t need to run things by Second Great King, but since this was a task given straight from the top, he decided it was best to consult.
Since leaving Cold Wind Cave, Shiyuan had looked like a kid who’d just lost his ice cream — utterly dejected, as if Lin Nan had dumped him.
Even in Cold Moon’s office, Shiyuan wore a long face.
The moment Cold Moon laid eyes on him, she knew he was just a naïve young boy whose emotions were plastered all over his face.
“Second Great King, can I borrow you for a minute?”
Leaving Shiyuan behind, the two slipped into the inner room.
Little Drill Wind quietly relayed to the Second Great King the juicy gossip he’d heard from the Butterfly Demon.
Cold Moon gasped, covering her mouth, her face slightly reddening.
Goodness, this gossip was something else!
Who would have thought that the usually aloof Cold Moon Great King had a soft side?
To an outsider, this human boy might seem ordinary, but he was quite handsome and had that porcelain skin that certainly made him cuddle-worthy.
Turns out the Great King liked that kind of charm. Sneaking this boy named Shiyuan into the lair without anyone catching on showed just how much she adored him.
Of course, to save face, the Great King wasn’t about to admit their relationship outright — probably worried about what people might think.
Cold Moon couldn’t help but smile and shake her head.
Oh dear, Great King, what’s the worry?
The whole Cold Wind City is yours! You can do whatever you like on your turf without anyone raising an eyebrow.
It’s just a boy! Even if you filled your cave with men, it’s your prerogative as the Great King!
She figured the Great King was mindful of Cold Wind City’s early development and wanted to avoid any extravagance — even recruiting male concubines should be done discreetly. That’s why she hadn’t spilled the beans to her maid either.
The Great King’s meticulous planning for Cold Wind City was truly inspiring.
“Assigning him a position was definitely intentional; it’s about nurturing him. After all, if he’s the Great King’s man, he can’t waltz around with no job or status in Cold Wind City, or it will stir up trouble down the road.”
Cold Moon continued to muse, “Maybe the Great King wants to give him a stable footing as a kind of exchange for serving her—though it’s a relationship that can’t be made public.”
“In any case, we need to consider what the Great King truly needs.”
Little Drill Wind nodded eagerly.
Bringing Shiyuan to consult with the Second Great King was definitely the right move.
If they had just brushed off the job for him casually based on the Great King’s words, she might act indifferent on the surface but would definitely harbor some discontent behind the scenes.
If you couldn’t even grasp this little hint, did you really have the cheek to stay by the Second Great King’s side?
After hearing the Second Great King’s analysis, he felt the weight of detail and couldn’t help but marvel at the gap in thinking between him and her.
Surprisingly, he hadn’t noticed just how far behind he was compared to Cold Moon before; after all, she was just a concubine beside Evil Merman not long ago.
But since Cold Moon took charge, it was like she had undergone a transformation, leaving him eating her dust.
From now on, Little Drill Wind would no longer peddle his feelings for Cold Moon. He’d wait until he surpassed her, and then he’d think about it again.
“What kind of job would be suitable?” Little Drill Wind asked humbly.
Cold Moon smiled at him, “What do you think?”
Little Drill Wind replied, “I heard from Butterfly Demon that this kid can eat like there’s no tomorrow. Why not stick him in the cafeteria? That would surely make him happy, and the Great King would approve!”
“Not a chance. Even if you give him power over the cafeteria, although practical, it’s hardly impressive.
What if someone starts whispering about the Great King’s favored one being just a cafeteria cook?
You think that’s comforting to hear?”
Little Drill Wind nodded, “You’re right.”
“So, as trivial as assigning a job may seem, it really isn’t easy to align it with the Great King’s intentions while also providing a real status.”
With a grimace, Little Drill Wind said, “But we can’t just assign him some important position! He looks so young and is a total foodie. What could he possibly do?”
Cold Moon chuckled, “Actually, there’s a position that suits him perfectly.”
“Oh?” Little Drill Wind perked up his ears.
“As of today, with the Great King being the leader of Cold Wind City and our spiritual idol, how could there not be a personal guard team to ensure her safety?
The position of captain of the guard suits him perfectly — it sounds impressive, and he can keep the Great King company long-term.”
Little Drill Wind clapped his hands, “No wonder you’re the Second Great King!
You grasped the Great King’s intentions so perfectly!
Even if I studied for thirty years, I doubt I could reach your level!”
P.S. Extra update fueled by everyone’s support! It’s hard to believe I made it this far myself! Thank you all for the votes!
