Chapter 6: The Shaking of the Small Thousand World (5)
==============================
Outside the remnants of Stone Treasure Town, which was nothing more than scorched bricks and ruined tiles, over three hundred riotously dressed mob members, escorting ox-carts laden with grain, were furiously whipping both male and female villagers and were just about to flee this eerie, sudden-snowfall-stricken place when an unexpected woman suddenly blocked their escape route.
The mobsters immediately halted.
Even though the woman stood alone, there was something about her that made it seem as if she had a thousand warriors waiting just behind her, causing them not to dare make any rash moves.
What’s more, this voluptuously proportioned black-skirted woman seemed nearly perfect from every angle; however, her face remained icy all the time.
The mobsters could barely endure even a single glance from her as her glacial demeanor crushed them immediately.
The leader suddenly realized that this woman might be a disciple of one of the Immortal Gates, and confronting her directly would be unwise.
Perhaps it would be better to first try to negotiate and inquire about her intentions before attacking.
Swallowing his pride, the leader stepped forward with a bold shout, “Esteemed Fairy, would you kindly move out of our way?”
Lin Nan coldly glanced at him, not returning a word.
After a while, the leader finally began to lose patience.
“What the hell are you? A mute?
I’ll let you go in peace because you’re a woman, but hurry up and let us pass. We don’t want any trouble with you.”
Lin Nan spoke, “Let me just ask you something: in the real world, you were all law-abiding citizens. So why, after arriving here, have you become so cruel, so devoid of humanity?”
The leader paused, then erupted into laughter, “So, you’re a player, too, huh?
Hmph. Don’t act all high and mighty in front of us then.
The real world is one thing, but this? This is a game, alright?
We can do whatever we want, and you can’t do jack about it.
Life in the real world is suffocating enough. Hell, we’re only going to be here for two years anyway, so why can’t we enjoy ourselves and live the dream of being warlords?
Moreover, we’ve all got just one life here. So what if we d*e? If you push us too far, you’d be outnumbered one hundred to one. Do you really think you can take down all of us single-handedly?”
Lin Nan sighed.
She finally understood how crucial it was to have a responsible state machine.
Without deterrents or fear, people’s darker sides were exaggerated to extremes almost instantly, making them uncontrollable within days.
It only took a day or two for modern people to regress into barbarians.
“Then this isn’t the first village you’ve destroyed, is it?”
Proudly lifting his head, the leader boasted, “You bet. I’ve seen it now; in this place, the fiercer you are, the more power you wield.
Sister, you seem pretty capable yourself. Why don’t you join us? You can be the second-in-command. We can have all the fine food and wine we want, destroy whoever we want! We’ll enjoy ourselves for these two years, deal?”
Lin Nan coolly responded, “Sorry, I won’t be joining hands with monsters who have their compatriots’ bl**d on them.”
With a sneer, the leader said, “Alright, sister, good for you.
Guess it’s my fault for underestimating you. But now, whether you want it or not, you’re ours today!”
“Everyone, charge! Take down this stuck-up woman!”
Lin Nan slightly closed her eyes,
and the intimidating aura that enveloped the scene vanished in that very moment.
The leader immediately felt the change and laughed, “She’s scared! Go on, boys! Just grab her first, and once I’m done with her, she’s all yours! This chick here is a once-in-a-lifetime treasure!”
The mob members were already drooling over Lin Nan’s stunning looks. Now that she seemed to stop resisting, they were all more eager than ever to claim her for themselves,
charging at her in a wild frenzy, desperate to be the first to claim her, driven by their pent-up desires.
But just when the mob was within a few meters of her, dozens of high-speed spinning playing cards flew in from nowhere with sharp whistling sounds, cutting through the crowd of rioters and embedding themselves firmly into the ground.
“Cough, cough…”
The mob’s front runners, a dozen or so men, fell to their knees clutching their throats, bl**d spurting from between their fingers and quickly soaking their upper bodies red.
The rest of the mob was shocked and immediately stopped in their tracks, terrified and looking around for the source of the attack.
The Black Skirt Woman hadn’t moved a finger, meaning someone else must have staged this act.
“Don’t just stand there! Grab her, and we’re safe! Move, d*mn it!”
Encouraged by their leader, the mob renewed their charge toward Lin Nan.
This time,
playing cards began to rain down from the skies like a relentless snowstorm, targeting every mobster.
At the same time, three figures of varying heights appeared amidst the chaos.
In the middle stood a woman in red, tall and beautiful, wielding a fiery whip. To her left, a young man swung a slender Western sword; to her right, a weaponless girl stood confidently, although a towering mob member, now under her control, seemed to guard her front.
Even though the mob managed to dodge the worst of the attack, they were still slashed all over by the razor-sharp cards, suffering numerous injuries as they were herded into a slaughterhouse.
Not long ago they were the hunters,
now they had become the hunted.
Every mobster touched by the fiery whip instantly burst into flames, their agonized screams echoing throughout the scene.
The efficiency of the Western sword was unmatched; it only needed to punch a bloody hole in the enemy’s head before retreating swiftly.
The bulky mob member now under someone’s control swelled unnaturally, transforming into a genuine savage bear, ripping apart fleeing mob members with wild ferocity.
Amidst the chaos of countless terrified screams and cries, a humanoid shadow formed from countless black paper pieces emerged before Lin Nan.
The figure was dressed in a short, black formal suit specific to the Demon Realm. His tall hat complemented his ghostly white face that looked as if it were painted heavily with foundation. Contrasting was his crimson lips, resembling someone fresh from a bl**d feast.
On his forehead, two short, one-centimeter-long horns declared his Demon Race heritage.
As soon as his feet touched the ground, he placed his hat over his chest and performed a respectful bow towards Lin Nan. His soft and gentle voice was like a lullaby.
“Esteemed Lord, please forgive bl**d Moon Team’s tardiness.”
“Xi, I leave the rest to you,” Lin Nan said indifferently.
“Yes, Esteemed Lord.”
Xi was a Platinum Card, while bl**d Moon Team had three Gold Cards: Fan, who wielded the fiery whip (female); Yun, who handled the Western sword (male); and Ji, a girl who could control people (female).
“After finishing up here, you may extend your search and strive to maintain the stability of the Human Continental. If anyone is left homeless, guide them toward the path leading to Thousand Bird City.
Let Thousand Bird City temporarily house them, then relocate the accumulated populace to Cold Wind City later.
Above all, under our jurisdiction, such atrocities are strictly forbidden.”
“As you wish, my dear Esteemed Lord.”
Xi bowed again.
…
The bl**d Moon Team was created by group friend Lingqi. Special thanks are given to them.
