### Chapter 6: Sky Tower (6)
==============================
“I’m really curious, what’s your secret? Why confess to a stranger who was your opponent just last night?”
Lin Nan’s gaze was as sharp as an arrow, coldly fixated on Trissa.
She, however, was unfazed, her pride and confidence as a genius harpist returning to her like a long-lost friend.
“Oh, God of Harmony, they say music follows the heart. A vile, underhanded person could never become a harpist. Only those with integrity, with no guilt weighing on their hearts, can play truly soul-stirring music.
I listened to your performance last night, and the enjoyment that came from deep within my soul surpassed all my experiences with the harp. I firmly believe you must have received the blessings of the God of Harmony, or perhaps you are the heir of a legendary harpist who existed before the rise of the Demon Race.
Thus, your character has passed the test of the Muse, just as I’ve pursued all my life: you are a person of integrity and candor.”
Trissa’s azure eyes sparkled with a confident gleam in the sunlight.
For a moment, Lin Nan found himself at a loss for words; indeed, Trissa’s words held truth.
Since her arrival in this world, she hadn’t done a single guilty thing. Now, she was tirelessly striving for the fate of the Three Races, truly living up to her conscience.
Regarding the Judgment Day two years from now, as a former observer of the Divine Clan, hiding in the East Sea Underground Palace would surely keep her safe.
If it weren’t for the humans who suddenly came to this world, for her friends whom she recognized, why would she exhaust herself in trying to prevent this event from occurring?
Being hailed as a genius, Trissa possessed impressive skills not only in harp playing but also in reading emotions like a pro.
Even with pure intentions, she sensed that her previous commentary was indeed having some effect; Lin Nan’s wariness was slowly crumbling.
This was a good sign, and Trissa felt more confident in persuading Lin Nan.
“Now tell me, why do you want to destroy the Sky Tower? Is it because of your father…” Lin Nan inquired.
“It does indeed involve my father,” Trissa replied.
She instinctively glanced around, as if checking for eavesdroppers.
Lin Nan realized that what she was about to say would be very important.
“Have you heard of the legend of the Four Warriors founding the Demon Race?”
Lin Nan nodded, “Morris has already told me about the ancient texts.”
“Then I won’t go into detail. After the Four Warriors founded their nation, one of the most esteemed warriors became the king, while the other three served as crucial ministers.
After thousands of years of lineage, the emperor’s bloodline persists to this day, and the other three warriors have numerous descendants as well. Most of the nobles in the empire have, to some extent, the bl**d of the Four Warriors,” Trissa explained.
“The status of the Four Warriors back then must have been quite exceptional.”
Trissa continued, “That’s just one aspect. Perhaps because the Four Warriors received the blessings of the Goddess of Destiny, only they could reach the S-class profession level, while ordinary demons would struggle their whole lives to reach even B-class.”
Lin Nan suddenly understood, “Bloodline?”
“Yes, my lord. Only descendants who inherit the bloodline of the Four Warriors have the chance to achieve higher levels in the jobs established by them and become the backbone of the empire. Others can only be reduced to lowly commoners or servants.”
So, the bloodline of the Four Warriors was crucial.
To ensure future generations started at the finish line, it was probably the main theme in the noble circles of the imperial capital for thousands of years to arrange marriages with those of the Four Warriors’ bloodline.
Commoners seeking high-level profession assessments? Sorry, that possibility is forever out of your reach.
As Lin Nan pondered this, a sense of déjà vu washed over her.
But since she had left the East Sea Underground Palace, some recovered memories had faded away again, leaving her with a vague feeling that she was somehow involved in this.
Oh well, if she couldn’t recall, she couldn’t recall. There’s no way she would make a trip back to the East Sea just for that.
“So, what you’re saying, how does it relate to your purpose?” Lin Nan asked.
“My great-great-great… grandfather—let’s just say he was an early ancestor and the youngest S-class demon swordsman in the entire Demon Race at the time. He was ambitious and wanted to surpass the achievements left by the Four Warriors,” Trissa recalled, a shiver of trepidation crossing her face as she thought of her ancestor’s deeds.
“He found some clues, claiming that the power of the Four Warriors came from the Sky Tower. But Black Stone City was already under the influence of the Monster Race at that point, and they weren’t welcoming outsiders into their territory.
Nonetheless, my ancestor was undeterred. Under the cover of night, he stealthily entered Black Stone City and found himself at the base of the Sky Tower.
After dispatching the guard, he successfully entered the underground section of the Sky Tower.”
When Trissa reached this part, Lin Nan’s interest piqued.
She hadn’t anticipated that the Demon Race had such rich connections with the Sky Tower, located in Monster Race territory. The tales they were sharing were like little gems of intrigue, making even mundane storytelling feel entertaining.
“What happened next?”
“Ten days later, my ancestor returned to our territory looking like a lifeless husk; two days after that, he died in bed. According to the servants of the time, he had turned to nothing but bones—the once brawny man was now barely fifty pounds,” Trissa recounted, disbelief lingering in her voice.
Fortunately, he had left behind several accounts related to the Sky Tower.
Taking a deep breath, Trissa felt a chill just recalling the history.
“My ancestor said that beneath the Sky Tower lies hell, especially after the eightieth underground floor. It’s a realm filled with d*ath and despair. Should anyone dare to intrude again, they would be drawn to this continent like moths to a flame.
Thus, he insisted we keep the secret of the Sky Tower. Unless one day the Sky Tower is once again exposed to the eyes of the public, our family must destroy the entrance before the Demon Race begins any probing operations, cutting off the chance for anyone to disturb hell again.”
After finishing, Trissa fixed her intense gaze on Lin Nan.
“My lord, I need your help.”
Exploring the Sky Tower wasn’t part of her original plans. To be honest, she wasn’t too interested in what lay beneath it.
After all, the original mission of Cold Wind City was to seize Black Stone City quickly, but now it had devolved into a drawn-out battle.
Moreover, after seizing Black Stone City, there was still Cangyan City under the control of the Demon Race, which posed another issue for Cold Wind City.
She could barely even think about uniting the Monster Race for now; why would she voluntarily create more trouble for herself?
If they could destroy the entrance to the Sky Tower, that would be a blessing in disguise. At least the Demon forces wouldn’t stir this murky water, allowing Cold Wind City to recover the lost territories of the Monster Race more swiftly.
“Alright, I’ll help you.”
Lin Nan’s mind gradually formed a preliminary plan.
