Chapter 9: I Am the Boss (2)

Chapter 9: I Am the Boss (2)

==============================

“You killed a good king!”

Suddenly appearing out of nowhere, Andrea defiantly glared at Kael’thas, her hoarse voice scratching like a rusty saw on wood.

“Andrea?”

Kael’thas glanced at the wet nurse, then back at his younger brother Job, who was sprawled on the ground, lifeless.

The wet nurse, Andrea, had raised the two brothers with her own milk after their mother passed away, and they had come to see her as their real mother.

But this time, nurse, you’ve got it all wrong!

Fueled by righteous anger, Kael’thas declared, “I worked tirelessly to investigate the source of the plague, but he pulled the rug out from under me, slandering me as the creator of the disease, and he stripped me of my claim to the throne! What’s the difference between him and a filthy thief?”

“Child, though I make no claims to the truth of your words, from our perspective, Job did nothing wrong.

You went searching for the source of the plague but vanished without a trace.

Job sent out people everywhere to look for you, but he couldn’t find you no matter what.

Then, the king died, chaos erupted in the capital, and many powerful folks were itching to take advantage of the situation to overthrow the royal family.

In this emergency, Job stepped up, calmed the rebellion, and was crowned king with the people’s support.

But he was burdened with guilt and told me more than once that if you ever returned to the capital, he would gladly hand over the throne to you.”

Andrea sighed heavily, “You’re too hasty and didn’t give him a chance to explain.”

Kael’thas blinked, only to shake his head. “Nurse, did Job send a single messenger in the seven days of besieging the capital?

Moreover, once someone gets a taste of power, how can they just throw it away?

You’ve been duped!”

Andrea replied, “Child, you are blinded by hatred. I’ll say no more.

Since you have taken the capital, the truth will eventually come to light. When that day comes, I only hope you can go to Job’s grave and repent for your senseless slaughter and for all the souls of Halen Kingdom that fell by your sword!”

“Pfft…”

Out of nowhere, a sword suddenly pierced through Andrea’s back, the tip protruding from her chest.

“Cough cough…”

Andrea was dead, and the one who killed her was also a d*ath Knight.

This person was a skilled warrior, always guarding him closely.

“She talked too much.” The knight coldly stated.

Kael’thas was furious, “Andrea’s life and d*ath are my decisions! How can you just k*ll without a second thought?”

“Everyone’s life and d*ath is decided by the God of the Undead, both you and I.” The knight stood his ground.

Kael’thas finally sensed something was off.

The vast majority of the undead army consisted of mindless skeletons and zombies, with only a few units having human-like intelligence.

And the group of d*ath Knights were elite soldiers responsible for leading the troops.

He originally thought this guy was a special favor from the God of the Undead, but now it seemed more like a form of surveillance.

With a gloomy expression, Kael’thas forced himself to stop gazing at Andrea’s lifeless body.

“Honorable Lord Kael’thas, tomorrow we shall hold the coronation ceremony for the king of Halen Kingdom. What do you think?”

The d*ath Knight appeared to have forgotten his earlier actions that left Kael’thas feeling upset, proceeding as if nothing had happened.

“Is this also the God of the Undead’s command?”

“Indeed.”

Kael’thas felt an inexplicable irritation and replied brusquely, “We’ll talk about this later.”

The knight stood quietly at the door, as still as a statue.

Kael’thas sat at the desk Job often used, right in front of Job’s corpse.

“No! This is all a lie!”

He still believed Andrea had been deceived until he spotted a thick stack of envelopes on the desk.

As soon as he opened one, a wave of dizziness hit him, and he suddenly realized he was the real fool being played.

“Dear brother, this is the seventh time I’ve sent a messenger to you.

I know that even if you k*ll me, it won’t erase my crime of taking your throne. But please let me explain; I only ask that you spare the lives of the citizens in the city. As for me, you can do whatever you like…”

Kael’thas roared, “b*stard! Where’s the messenger? Why haven’t I seen a single one from the capital?”

The knight answered, “Their arrival would disrupt your emotions. As the future King of the Undead, you don’t need any communication with humans. Granting them d*ath is your only pursuit.”

At that moment, Kael’thas recalled why he always found the tone of that city commander who blocked their army so very stiff.

It was almost identical to the current d*ath Knight’s voice.

This was outright deception!

Kael’thas was boiling with rage. Even if his body could no longer feel warmth, his sword felt as if it had just been pulled from lava, blending fire and ice, and in an instant, he severed the d*ath Knight’s head.

Carrying sorrow and the fury it ignited, he led the undead army toward the lair of the God of the Undead.

Along the way, anything that dared block his path was cleaved in two.

Under his command, the undead army, boosted in all attributes, roared forward toward the foot of the Undead City.

The God of the Undead—a figure draped in a black robe, whose face had never been seen.

“Very well, you are the most powerful d*ath Knight in history, and I am pleased.”

Kael’thas instantly shot upward, thrusting toward the source of all his hatred.

He could have been a great king, just like his late father, but all of that was ruined by this guy.

“But Kael’thas, you will never defeat me!”

The God of the Undead suddenly spread his arms, and countless frosts instantly enveloped Kael’thas.

“On the day you awaken, it will be the day the undead army sweeps across the continent. By then, you will understand the true meaning of slaughter and redemption.”

That was the last thing Kael’thas heard before losing consciousness.

How much time passed, or maybe a thousand years was just a moment for him.

But his hatred never waned, and even as he slowly regained a flicker of consciousness, the desire for slaughter filled his entire being.

“k*ll! k*ll! k*ll! Everyone in my way must d*e! Because I am Kael’thas, the most powerful d*ath Knight!”
