Chapter 4: I Am the Boss (7)
==============================
There was no doubt about it: the Alligator Monster being split in half by the d*ath Knight’s blade sent everyone’s morale crashing down to the depths—especially for the gang of monsters that belonged to the Alligator. With their master gone, their reason for existing in this place disintegrated faster than a soggy toast.
As everyone’s attention zeroed in on Kael’thas, they stealthily started to hightail it out of there. They didn’t want to end up like their master—dying a nameless d*ath in the underground labyrinth!
When Fu Yetian and Lady Rong Ji noticed the commotion, the group of about five to six hundred monsters took off like their tails were on fire, desperate to escape the gaze of the Ji Shen higher-ups—because let’s be honest, it’s always a good idea to stay alive!
Lady Rong Ji couldn’t help but chuckle, “Oh dear, I thought I wouldn’t have to use this trick anymore!”
Under Fu Yetian’s cold, deadpan stare, Lady Rong Ji simply whistled, and it sounded just like any regular whistle—except the little demons scattering in all directions suddenly toppled over as if someone flipped their off switch.
With another regular old whistle, those fallen little demons shook their heads, stood up, and—surprise!—decided it would be a great idea to double back.
“Aren’t you all trying to escape? Come on, come on! If you can just take down this horse-riding knucklehead, you can all go free!”
The Alligator Monster’s underlings dashed back into the d*ath Knight’s attack range in a flurry, and everyone noticed that as long as they kept a safe distance from Kael’thas, he wouldn’t bother attacking them—just floating around on that creepy Soul Horse, looking like the world’s worst parade float.
But this time, it was as if five hundred people had collectively lost their minds, charging at Kael’thas with a roar.
“You’re making the right call; instead of letting them escape, let’s wear down the boss a little,” Fu Yetian declared.
Lady Rong Ji grinned, “Use people to their fullest potential! And hey, what’s the point of keeping those who are disloyal to Ji Shen around?”
The Great King of the Split Land and the Tiger Demon both gasped, now treating the two Ji Shen enforcers with newfound respect—scared stiff they might end up being cannon fodder for the boss themselves, which would be as good as signing their own d*ath warrants.
“Whack!”
Kael’thas’s chopping blade swung like a whirlwind. Those little demons, all courage and no brains, went down faster than potatoes on a chopping board, splattering bl**d everywhere that melted patches into the frozen ground.
In just two minutes, over five hundred little demons were reduced to nothing but a heap of bits and pieces.
The battlefield was now littered with dismembered corpses.
“Whew…”
Kael’thas paused, panting lightly; he could feel his stamina slowly waning. Sure, killing these guys was easier than squishing bugs, but, you know, doing it in bulk can tire one out!
Since they were enemies sent by the God of the Undead to test him, he had to make sure anyone who shows up here remembers one important thing: Kael’thas was no longer the easy target he once was! He was breaking free from all of this!
Fu Yetian suddenly chimed in, “He’s getting a bit sluggish.”
Lady Rong Ji smiled, “He’s tired. Let’s not waste time!”
Fu Yetian glanced over at Prince Eric, “Your Highness, are you interested in him?”
Eric, not wanting to let Ji Shen have all the glory, replied, “Freeman will bring people to assist you in the attack.”
“Great! Let’s get your potions ready!”
Fu Yetian then eyed the Great King of the Split Land and the Tiger Demon. These big monsters, currently under the control of the Heart-eating Worm, weren’t at their peak strength and sending them out to fight would be tantamount to a d*ath wish. Better to handle it personally!
“Charge!”
Before Kael’thas could fully recover from his previous spree of slaughter, another wave of attackers surged forth.
“Give me a few vials of potions.”
Freeman reluctantly produced two vials and handed them to Fu Yetian, since, you know, allies need to stick together, even if for just this moment.
As the third wave hit the battlefield, Kael’thas found new excitement, howling into the sky as his agile Soul Horse darted straight into the fray like a missile.
“Whoosh!”
Two demon warriors got sliced clean in half, leaving the harpist watching outside the battle helpless, and even the skilled Trissa could only watch in horror as bl**d painted the battlefield.
Just as Kael’thas yanked back his sword, preparing to leap into action and slice through another demon, Fu Yetian—who had been like a ninja in hiding—suddenly appeared behind Kael’thas.
As his sword came down in a flash, a potion containing black liquid popped up between them as if it were a surprise birthday gift!
Kael’thas instinctively swung back, blocking Fu Yetian’s ambush and sending him stumbling back a few paces. But what he didn’t expect was that his sword also shattered the potion bottle, the liquid splattering all over him in a not-so-fun surprise.
“Boom!”
A heavy explosion ensued.
Purple-black flames engulfed Kael’thas.
He was dead already, so he didn’t feel pain, but the acrid smell of burning caught his attention. If he let that fire keep blazing, he might find himself incapable of moving—yikes!
【Warning! Your health has dropped to 80%!】
cr*p, was he naturally weak against fire?
At that moment, everyone noticed that this supposedly invincible d*ath Knight couldn’t fend off the potion damage at all.
Watching from the sidelines, Eric burst out laughing, “Now I understand how the Four Warriors defeated him! Potions are unbeatable!”
Not wanting Fu Yetian to snag all the glory and create unfair distribution of loot later on, Freeman quickly commanded the demon warriors to throw five more vials at the struggling d*ath Knight.
With potions running low and no more room for extravagant spending, three of those five did manage to hit the constantly shifting target.
In the end, even that Soul Horse was ablaze, tossing Kael’thas off its back as it bolted out of the combat zone.
【Warning! You have lost your mount! You’ve lost your maneuverability!】
【Warning! Your health has dropped to 20%!】
d*mn! Why wouldn’t this fire go out?
Kael’thas could feel himself slowing down, the acrid scent growing stronger, like a hunk of dead meat tossed onto the grill.
“Slice him like butter! k*ll him!”
Fu Yetian didn’t give him an inch of breathing room, and Freeman wasn’t far behind, both of them carving up his body with swift and savage cuts.
【Ding! Your current plot completion degree is at 60%. Estimated rating: A-!】
d*mn it, if they took him out now, with his current role-playing degree at 90%, it wouldn’t drag his main body into it, but his plot completion level would still be way too low! The system would not be pleased!
Faced with their relentless advance, he had to wonder: how the hell was he supposed to escape this?
