Chapter 6: I Am the Boss (9)
==============================
As Kael’thas unleashed his “Undead Minions” summoning skill, a horde of Undead Creatures sprung up from every corner of the Palace, all clawing and gnashing their teeth as they charged at the intruders, engaging in chaotic battles.
Fu Yetian and Freeman, both seasoned battle veterans, knew that to end this madness, they had to take down the boss in record time.
But just as they prepared to ambush Kael’thas—whose health was hanging by a thread at below 20%—the most despairing thing happened.
Two ghouls suddenly erupted from the ground at Kael’thas’s feet, and their heads were seized tightly by their master.
“Crunch!”
Their bony skulls crumpled under his grip like soda cans.
And that was just the beginning; their bodies rapidly shriveled as Kael’thas’s fire-scorched form restored itself at an astounding rate.
He was violently draining the life force from the ghouls.
【d*ath Pact: Sacrifice summoned ghouls to heal the d*ath Knight.】
【The d*ath Knight’s health has been restored to 30%!】
Fu Yetian and Freeman, standing closest to Kael’thas, had the skill description flash back into their minds.
And that was just the start.
Before long, they saw new ghouls surfacing from beneath the ground.
Fu Yetian was well aware: if Kael’thas continued to feast on them, all their previous efforts would be in vain.
“Freeman, handle the ghouls! I’ll take care of the main event!”
Without waiting for Freeman’s response, Fu Yetian suddenly blinked and appeared behind Kael’thas. In that moment, he held nothing back.
His muscles bulged almost instantly, making him look like a beefed-up action figure, as the speed of his great sword’s descent increased dramatically.
“Clang!”
Kael’thas whipped around with a swing of his sword, and the two clashed at the center of the battlefield.
The gust from their weapons colliding sent Freeman and several newly emerged ghouls flying.
“Quick, take them out!”
Struggling to get back on his feet, Freeman didn’t forget his task. They had to stop Kael’thas from healing, or else all their hard work would sink faster than a brick in water.
The demon race warriors staggered up and charged toward the snarling ghouls.
Chaos erupted in the palace, turning it into a veritable Shura battlefield.
No one was safe anymore, as arrows rained down from above, aiming straight for their throats.
Lady Rong Ji immediately barked out orders, “Follow me! Take out the archers first!”
“Yes, my lord!”
In this life-or-d*ath moment, even Lady Rong Ji abandoned her usual discretion. She casually tossed out hundreds of tiny bugs that darted through the air like cruise missiles. Upon detecting hidden skeleton archers or necromancers lurking in the shadows, the bugs flew right at them.
Due to their small size, the bugs usually went unnoticed.
These Undead Creatures, being mostly insensitive, didn’t realize what was happening until the bugs burrowed through their skulls with corrosive liquid, devouring their soul fires.
Only at the last moment did they realize they had been ambushed.
With Lady Rong Ji and a squad of lithe female subordinates coordinating their attacks with the bugs, the relentless ranged assault was quickly quelled.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
【Warning! Warning! The entire Palace will soon become a battle area! The boss can initiate attacks on you!】
Another dazzling line of red text flashed in their minds.
The people, already numb to these alerts, instinctively looked back toward the boss in the arena— a towering, hulking d*ath Knight.
“Whoa…”
A gentle light spread out from the feet of the d*ath Knight.
Wherever the light passed, thornbushes shot up to half a meter high, with visible gray dust peeling off the thorns and floating in the air like confetti.
Soldiers nearby accidentally inhaled the dust and instantly began coughing loudly, turning pale as if they were gravely ill.
【Withering Decay: The d*ath Knight’s designated area causes persistent damage and plague debuffs, reducing all attributes by 50%.】
A chill ran through everyone’s hearts.
How could there be such a tyrannical group debuff skill? If caught, they wouldn’t even have the ability to defend themselves.
Meanwhile, the skeletons seemed invigorated, fighting even harder.
Screams echoed; weakened soldiers struggled to even lift their weapons.
“d*e, you sc*m!”
Kael’thas’s colossal cleaver suddenly felt extraordinarily heavy.
Fu Yetian, standing against him, was slammed against the wall with tremendous force, as if a meteor had struck the earth, leaving cracks everywhere.
He spat out bl**d, stars dancing before his eyes, feeling as though his bones were turning to dust.
Was he really at the point of using all his strength?
But this was just the floor 60 boss…
There were still a full forty floors left to explore! He never expected this dungeon would be so terrifying. After the Thousand Bird City incident, he had been honing his body using the Spirit Gathering Technique he’d stolen from the Floating City, thinking that with 60% of that power, he could handle things. Now, it looked like he’d need every ounce of his strength to even stand a chance against this Undead Knight.
Unfortunately, that Spirit Gathering energy was a precious resource that dwindled with use.
Was he really going to expend all his trump cards on this floor 60 boss?
【Ding! Your performance level has reached 100%!】
【Ding! Your attributes have increased by 40%, and your subordinates’ attributes have also increased by 40%!】
【Congratulations! You have earned the title “Actor.” Wearing this title will increase your performance level by 5%. Note: Performance level maxes out at 100%.】
Turns out, just nailing down the character’s story wasn’t enough; he had to develop skills that suited the boss’s quirks as well.
The skills Undead Minion, d*ath Pact, and Withering Decay undoubtedly matched the essence and abilities of the d*ath Knight Kael’thas perfectly. The system, after a thorough review, expressed immense satisfaction and awarded the final missing 10% performance level.
Just as the system announced the rewards, the remaining Ji Shen and demon warriors received the most terrifying alert in history.
【Warning! Warning! The enemy boss Kael’thas has entered third form, increasing all attributes by 40%!】
“Roar!”
Kael’thas bellowed at the sky.
His size surged to one and a half times its original mass, and the cleaver mirrored that growth.
Faced with everyone, Kael’thas exuded an oppressive aura, his mere step sending tremors through the ground, causing people to instinctively backpedal, fearing his cleaver would rain down on them at any moment.
Were they really going to d*e here?
