Chapter 4 Modern Small World (5)

Chapter 4 Modern Small World (5)

==============================

In the deep night, the distant sounds of insects and frogs drifted through the window, creating a peaceful and serene atmosphere.

The Ji Shen crew and the demon soldiers had never anticipated that during their mission, they would stumble upon such a perfectly relaxing moment.

Sure, the old factory was a mess, but to the soldiers, it was a decent refuge from the wind and rain, with a dry floor to boot.

As a precaution, they set up a patrol team following camping rules to ensure safety during their downtime.

The highly skilled Fu Yetian and his companions were far from sleepy. On their way to the factory, they had swiped a few tablets and laptops with mobile internet capabilities from a digital shop, thanks to guidance from their local otaku.

Before long, he and Lady Rong Ji had more or less mastered the operation techniques and began browsing everything about this world online.

The more they browsed, the more their jaws dropped, and the more they couldn’t stop scrolling.

The various bits of news were downright shocking.

Fu Yetian was particularly interested in the combat capabilities of the Small World’s military. After a fervent recommendation from the otaku, he gradually figured out the strength system here.

Generally speaking, the individual combat power in the Small World was quite average; whether in physique or stamina, they were comparable to newly inducted Outer Door Disciples of the Heavenly Sword Sect.

But the real kicker about this Small World was how their skilled craftsmen could produce all sorts of weapons that could tear through heaven and earth. Soldiers could wield them, and to some extent, match the destructive capabilities of cultivators who’ve been training for hundreds of years.

Lady Rong Ji, on the other hand, found herself inexplicably drawn to the multitude of beautiful women in the online pictures.

“Wow… the women here dress so revealingly! Some are just a hair’s breadth away from baring it all—utterly shameless!”

Yet, the more she complained, the more engrossed she became, her eyes practically sparkling.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the factory, the demon resting camp was abuzz with low whispers among Morris, Adeline, and Trissa huddled together.

From an outsider’s perspective, they all used to be embassy members, so chatting together didn’t seem too out of the ordinary.

“When do we strike?” Adeline conveyed in a hushed tone.

Trissa shook her head. “Not yet. Timing is everything; don’t rush it.”

Without a doubt, suddenly landing in a Small Cave Heaven that was so vastly different from their original Asking Dao Continent made quickly adapting feel like a pipe dream.

Even now, there was a sense of unease in everyone’s hearts, like walking a tightrope—one misstep and they’d plummet into an abyss.

Just at this moment, the ever-observant Trissa caught the faintest sound of footsteps from above.

She immediately shushed the others, signaling them to lie down and pretend to rest.

After all, being associated with Lord Lin was no small matter; they were hoping the interlopers would fail spectacularly, not wanting to alert them to any outsiders’ presence.

Meanwhile, Lie Tu, who was responsible for securing the perimeter of the factory, also sensed something awry.

After some time acclimating, he had started to control this body, achieving about 80% of his true strength. He was now considered the top general under his protective guards.

He keenly felt that something was watching him.

But given orders from above, he shouldn’t make a scene unless absolutely necessary to avoid compromising their hiding spot.

So, the Bull Head didn’t make a move right away. Instead, he maintained his distance, waiting for the right moment to strike back in kind.

One hundred meters away, an operative from the Special Operations Bureau, hiding in the grass, let out a muffled groan as he collapsed to the ground, bl**d oozing through his fingers that were covering his eyes.

His partner crouched beside him, terrified, whispering urgently, “Patient 23 is injured, repeat! Patient 23 is injured, needs medical attention!”

They were always equipped with earpieces and mics for seamless communication with headquarters.

“Copy that! Retreat approved!” came the response from headquarters.

Patient 22 immediately hefted Patient 23 over his shoulder and bolted.

But just after a few steps, a massive figure loomed up ahead, like a small mountain.

“Planning to escape?” The Tiger Demon glared at the squirming human in front of him, his hands suddenly extending with claws that seemed to resemble Wolverine’s.

Patient 22 cautiously set Patient 23 down, his fists swelling up as if coated in steel, glinting ominously under the distant lights.

The tiger was taken aback by this transformation.

He had thought all the humans here were ordinary, but this one had some extraordinary tricks up his sleeve!

Originally lurking at the edge of the patrol area with intentions to k*ll the observer, the tiger now fancied capturing him alive—certainly, Lady Rong Ji would reward him for that.

With that thought, the tiger hesitated no more.

Suppressing his instinct to roar before a fight, he looked down from his height; his claws advanced like sharpened blades, closing in.

Even with skin like iron, Patient 22 didn’t fear blades and guns.

Yet, as the Tiger Demon’s claws slashed across his surface, a shocking clang rang out, fueled by the sheer force behind it.

Each strike felt like being tossed from fifty meters up into a hard surface; the brutal impact was staggering, dizzying Patient 22, who vomited bl**d and fell out, dazed.

The tiger quickly hoisted him onto his back, gleefully returning to the factory to claim his “trophy.”

Meanwhile, mere moments later, several agents in black uniforms crept to the previous battlefield, hoisting the seriously injured Patient 23 away from the scene.

What the Tiger Demon didn’t know was that every operative from the Special Operations Bureau had a mini camera implanted on them, continuously running as long as the battery held up.

Thus, even though Patient 23 was captured, he provided the Special Operations Bureau with a chance to peek into the inner workings of their enemy.

As the operation’s commander, the Deputy Bureau Director was sitting in the command vehicle near the factory, directing all participating operatives in real-time.

The capture of Patient 22 had definitely exceeded everyone’s expectations.

This individual ranked above A-class; once he turned into steel, he was nearly impervious to attack. Even facing S-class and above opponents, while he might not win, he could at least make a clean getaway.

Such scenarios were commonplace.

Yet this time, he was utterly defenseless against the humanoid tiger; even his iron body could be crushed by the beast’s power.

This clearly illustrated that the tiger was well beyond normal expectations in strength, definitely at the S-class level.

“Surely the director’s office can see our real-time feed?” the Deputy Bureau Director asked uncertainly.

Normally, Lord Bureau Director would have issued instructions long ago; why was he leaving all command authority with him today?

“Absolutely, rest assured, the lines are all good,” his subordinate confirmed.

The Deputy Bureau Director couldn’t help but clench his fists, filled with the spirit of a warrior who fights for a worthy cause.

The director was surely grooming him, preparing him to one day take the reins!

Just wait and see! He would complete every task with style this time!

In the late-night office of the Bureau Director, the computer screen flickered…

“The enemy will arrive at the battlefield in thirty seconds!”
