Chapter 2: New Era (13)
==============================
Under the vast starry sky, a white figure floated quietly in midair,
While beneath him, an area with a five-kilometer radius had turned into a realm of extreme cold and ice.
It had completely wrapped up all the humans who had lost consciousness but hadn’t made it to the air raid shelters yet.
At that moment, those bodies that had been moving just seconds ago shattered and collapsed like porcelain dolls under the violent tremors of the second arrow, turning into fragments large and small.
Though the scene was devoid of any bl**d, it was far more chilling and spine-tingling.
It was as if these humans were mere ice sculptures, easily destroyed without a second thought.
“Ouyang Le?”
Lin Nan recognized him.
For some inexplicable reason, a flicker of instinctual warning stirred inside her.
“Lin Nan, can’t you see that these humans will be exploited by the enemy, leading to even more catastrophic consequences?”
Ouyang Le slowly descended onto the icy plain, his gaze sharp as he looked at Lin Nan and the others not far away.
Lin Nan replied, “Is that your motive for killing them? They might recover in an hour or two! What you’re doing is reckless!”
Ouyang Le shot her a cold glance, “You’re in no position to criticize me! I have my own judgment.
And don’t think that ignoring them will save them. I can see what the enemy is up to.
Once they enter the air raid shelter, they’re done for! They might as well d*e now to stall the enemy’s plans.”
Seeing his soft face, Lin Nan couldn’t help but feel a twinge of disgust, “Let’s see what the reality is when we get into the air raid shelter.”
Ouyang Le snorted, “Happy to oblige.”
This guy was ranked second in the organization, having competed with her in the past, ending in a virtual tie—he just lost on details.
Since Lin Nan’s original body had been separated from him in the training camp, she hadn’t had any dealings with this fellow. She didn’t expect him to continue harboring animosity; however, with the big enemy looming, she wasn’t interested in internal strife while facing Fu Yetian.
Let’s first check out the air raid shelter’s condition.
Just as the three were about to reach the entrance of the shelter, not just them, but even the entire audience was shaken by what happened next.
Suddenly, the whole Ocean City fell into violent tremors.
All the combat personnel moving through the city immediately dropped to the ground, barely avoiding being flung into the air by the shaking city.
“Is it too late?”
Without hesitation, Lin Nan swung a kn*fe to slice open the massive iron doors, leading the way into the darkened air raid shelter.
Their vision far exceeded that of ordinary humans; even in the faintest light, they could see everything.
A thick smell of bl**d assaulted them, making even Lin Nan, who was used to slaughter, feel uncomfortable. Clearly, this shelter had stacks of corpses piled up inside.
“Your Highness, the Tiger Demons… Aren’t they…?”
Lie Tu’s voice faltered.
Lin Nan was also puzzled; why hadn’t the Tiger Demons and the other great demons, who were under Lady Rong Ji’s control, escaped after regaining their senses? Now it seemed…
Sure enough, just after a few steps, they found layers of Little Demon corpses on the ground.
Lie Tu rushed forward.
He briefly examined them, but his massive body swayed as if he could topple over.
His voice became increasingly bitter, “They’re all subordinates of mine.”
At this moment, Ouyang Le had also rushed into the underground air raid shelter. He looked around and declared, “What are you still standing there for?! The enemy should be on the second level below. k*ll them, and the earthquake will stop.”
Without waiting for Lin Nan’s response, he blasted past the pile of corpses and flew deeper into the shelter.
Lin Nan gritted her teeth, “Lie Tu, look around for survivors. I’ll handle the rest.”
“Understood, Your Highness.”
Lin Nan’s fiery long kn*fe ignited into roaring flames, finally allowing nearby scenes to be captured by drones.
At that moment, the image of mountains of corpses and seas of bl**d appearing on live television caused viewers with weaker stomachs to double over and vomit.
The scene was too gruesome and terrifying; even strong-willed soldiers experienced moments of nausea.
People couldn’t even imagine that Bureau Director Lin was battling in such a suffocating place.
It undoubtedly earned the crowd a newfound respect for Lin Nan and that white-clad man who had brutally dispatched thousands upon appearing.
However, the audience didn’t have many good feelings toward that suddenly appearing white-clad man.
After all, his treatment of ordinary people under a curse was far too cruel; the madness of achieving goals by any means necessary was evident.
The drone still centered on Lin Nan, continuously following her as she explored deeper into the underground shelter.
At this point, the frequency of the earthquakes was accelerating; viewers could even see concrete debris occasionally falling from above, while Lin Nan swiftly darted among them, almost as if she was playing a high-difficulty action game, with surprises lurking around every corner, ready to scare the audience half to d*ath.
Just moments ago, Lin Nan had split a suddenly dropping boulder, much to viewers’ relief.
The blazing flame of her sword became a totem of faith for the audience; as long as that flickering fire remained alight, Bureau Director Lin could overcome all difficulties.
“Crack… Crack!”
Lin Nan sliced through the falling rocks without slowing down.
“Boom!”
It seemed there was a solid ice barrier set up by Ouyang Le ahead; that b*stard was trying to lock himself out and hog the glory!
“Bang!”
With a powerful chop, she only left a shallow mark on the barrier.
“Hmm, not bad.”
The previous “Six Paths of Raging Fire” had exhausted her energy. Without hesitation, Lin Nan unleashed her “One Sword Style! Sky Dominance Slash!”
She had skillfully used similar techniques in Sky Sword City, which was under the control of the Fallen Ones.
Not only Little Musashi, but when she transformed into Kael’thas, she had also seen Lady Rong Ji use the “Whirlwind Shredding Formation,” so Lin Nan had indeed wondered if Lady Rong Ji and Little Musashi were connected somehow.
Unfortunately, with Lady Rong Ji dead, she couldn’t ask about the relationship between them anymore.
“Crack!”
A diagonal, flaming fissure appeared on the solid ice barrier.
Little Musashi’s signature skill was indeed remarkable.
Lin Nan pushed lightly, and the ice barrier crumbled like a shattered glass door with a resounding crash.
But the next moment, Lin Nan witnessed a shocking scene.
Even though half of Fu Yetian’s body was encased in hard ice, he still single-handedly gripped Ouyang Le’s neck, who was flailing her legs in a hopeless struggle, clearly gasping for breath.
