# Chapter 0: The Useless Demoness (7)
================================
The groom, swaying like a drunken sailor, stumbled into the room.
A few tipsy guests were ready to stir up some ruckus as part of the traditional wedding shenanigans, but Trissa was having none of it. She doused them with a bucket of cold truth.
“If you don’t want your heads to roll later, I suggest you scram. Nobody’s stopping you.”
Big shot Morris, the commander of the Dashi army, might have been a man of few words, but as the holy maiden of the Dashi people, Trissa’s words carried weight heavier than a boulder.
Plus, who could forget the Great King’s legendary aura? Under Trissa’s warning, the crowd suddenly remembered that the blushing bride behind the red veil was none other than their own Great King.
They say a night of passion is worth a fortune, and if they dared to ruin the King’s big moment, the consequences wouldn’t be pretty.
“Drink up, drink up!”
The crowd quickly pretended like nothing happened and shuffled away.
Who would choose to forego fine wine and good meat just to cross paths with the Great King’s wrath? They weren’t idiots after all!
Adeline, completely plastered, wobbled over to a burly guy and leaned on him, “Tonight… let’s hit the sheets…”
The crowd burst into cheers.
In comparison to the icy demeanor of the Great King, adorable Adeline was undoubtedly the star of the show.
The guy, astonished and excited, asked, “Really?”
“Of course! Let’s go… hic…”
Just as the dude tried to wrap his arms around Adeline, a hefty thwack landed on his head. “What the heck, who hit me!”
Fuming, he turned around to see Morris glaring at him like a thundercloud.
Adeline slapped Morris right across the face, “What do you want? You dare interrupt my fun! Buzz off!”
Morris seized Adeline’s delicate wrist fiercely. “Stop making a scene, will you?”
“Ha! Who do you think you are? I can sleep with whoever I want! You can’t tell me what to do!”
With a fierce shake, Adeline broke free from Morris’s grip and shouted.
Though Morris trembled slightly, he kept quiet and followed her closely like a lost puppy, no matter how much Adeline cursed and yelled.
At this rate, who would dare to get involved with Adeline?
After all, Morris was a trusted underling of the Great King—picking a fight over a woman was just asking for trouble.
Thanks to this little episode, the banquet outside was buzzing with excitement.
Inside the bridal chamber, Lin Nan had her back to the vibrant red bed canopy, munching on an apple. She hadn’t had a drop of anything for a good five or six hours, and her throat felt like a desert.
After devouring a couple of apples and three peaches, she finally quenched her thirst.
Listening to the ruckus outside and noting that Shiyuan was knocked out cold on the bed, Lin Nan felt quite pleased.
Regardless of what tomorrow held, she could at least avoid facing the groom awkwardly tonight.
In a few days, she’d have a chance to send Shiyuan back to the Shijia family, easing Shi Jinghai’s resentment towards the stronghold, allowing this useless remnant of the Demon Sect to live peacefully for two months.
Everything was going perfectly.
While her score might be low, it was certainly better than losing her life.
She didn’t lack the will to rise up, but the system had given her such a pathetic starting point—nothing like the imposing Bureau Director from the last Small World.
Unified Martial World? That was probably only possible in a dream.
Though she still didn’t quite grasp the system’s intentions, it seemed she had no choice but to face the fact that she was a waste of space.
After finishing her fruits, Lin Nan nibbled on some desserts, but there was an unusual silence behind her.
She could almost picture Shiyuan sprawled out on the bed, snoring like a log. She just hoped he wouldn’t drool on the blankets.
And what if he choked on his vomit while sleeping off his drunkenness? That was a recipe for disaster.
As Lin Nan turned around, she unexpectedly bumped her nose into a soft, warm body.
Startled, she screamed and sprang back like a spring, crashing into the table with a loud “creak.”
“Whoa… the bridal chamber is quite noisy,” someone remarked outside.
“Hehe, who would’ve thought that this little lad might be a lightweight drinker, but his strength isn’t bad at all. The bed’s rocking along with their activities!” another chimed in.
“No wonder the Great King is so fond of him. It’s like a little horse pulling a heavy cart—there’s a special charm to it, hehe.”
Even though they weren’t brave enough to disrupt the bridal chamber, a few curious souls were nestled away, eavesdropping on the lively commotion.
This was going to be a juicy story for later—how could they resist?
What Lin Nan didn’t realize was that the Shiyuan from a few minutes ago, completely wasted, was now standing before her like a model citizen.
But, having weathered many storms, Lin Nan quickly regained her composure after a brief moment of panic.
Under the flickering candlelight, Shiyuan’s face looked still youthful and juicy, but his eyes sparkled with a distinctly different light.
The timid demeanor was gone, replaced by calm intensity and barely concealed pride.
If Lin Nan weren’t able to smell the residual alcohol on him, she might’ve thought he was a completely different person.
So, Shiyuan had been acting all along?
Wow, it was quite the performance—she hadn’t doubted him for a second before this.
But why did he choose to drop the act now? What was he up to?
Lin Nan said nothing and quietly regarded Shiyuan, as if her earlier scream had never happened.
For a moment, the bridal chamber was exceedingly quiet.
“Uh, is that it?”
“Looks like the little horse needs to run a bit more; his stamina’s lacking.”
“Hey, the Great King just hit the jackpot, but this little lad might be a newbie… you know what that means.”
The listeners outside couldn’t help but chuckle.
Little did they know, inside the bridal chamber, the two were locked in a strange standoff.
Shiyuan remained silent but kept inching closer to Lin Nan.
Before she knew it, Lin Nan found herself backed up against the wall, with barely a step’s distance between them.
Her heart raced, and she couldn’t help but break the tension, “What do you want?”
Shiyuan’s left hand, which he had kept behind him, slowly came forward, revealing the red veil she’d tossed aside earlier.
“The bride’s veil is meant to be lifted only by her husband. I’m willing to let your earlier antics slide, but you have to wear it again.”
Lin Nan, “…”
In the dim flicker of candlelight, she had no idea how charming her slightly perplexed face looked.
Even Shiyuan, usually composed, couldn’t help but show a hint of awe.
“I remember you can’t fight at all. Are you trying to order me around?”
Even now, Lin Nan found it hard to believe that this was the same Shiyuan who had been sobbing into his pillow just moments ago.
But given he was defenseless and she did have some internal skill, she figured dealing with a genuine weakling wouldn’t be a problem. So Lin Nan’s confidence surged.
How could she let a little recipient back her into a corner? Never!
Shiyuan sneered, “Yes, now that we’re married, you ought to listen to me, right?”
