Everyone Thinks I’m the Villainous NPC Boss – Chapter 720

### Chapter 5: The Turning Point (6)

Lilith would never forget that scene even if she were ground to dust and ashes.

Cliff the armored warrior, Valentine the mage, Hardy the assassin, Casey the harpist, Lord Xi, and a whole entourage of followers had fought tooth and nail to finally reach the Sky Tower.

These five were originally good friends; otherwise, Lord Xi wouldn’t have agreed to the invitation from the Four Warriors to venture east in search of opportunities to enhance their powers.

And Lord Xi was also the strongest among them. Many times during battles with enemies, had it not been for Lord Xi’s timely intervention, they probably wouldn’t have made it so smoothly from the Demon Race territory to the depths of the Sky Tower.

But there, at the 70th floor of the tower, the exhausted group encountered a woman who claimed to be the Goddess of Destiny.

With a mere flick of her hand, everyone’s injuries rapidly healed, and they returned to peak condition.

Some even experienced significant boosts in their abilities.

This immediately convinced them of her identity, and they all fell to their knees in awe.

Lilith initially thought this was their hard work attracting the Goddess of Destiny’s favor, and they were about to receive their well-deserved reward.

However, what the Goddess said next left everyone stunned.

She proposed that, given the strength they had proven, she could bless the five leaders with supreme power, which they could pass down for generations.

But in exchange, they had to eradicate all the nobles except for the five of them, ensuring they could dominate the Demon Race.

This condition undoubtedly thrilled the four Warriors, aside from Lord Xi, who were practically quivering with excitement.

After all, they had expected her to demand something harsh in exchange, yet such a request seemed easy for them now that they were empowered. Plus, it granted them the power everyone dreams of. What was there not to love?

Only Lord Xi raised an objection on the spot.

He declared that the Demon Race thrived precisely because everyone had the opportunity to learn secret arts and enhance their abilities.

For thousands of years, this had birthed numerous outstanding individuals, and it was bound to continue in the future.

But if they killed everyone simply to gain power, effectively choking off the source of strength for the Demon Race, it would be a classic case of “killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.”

Sure, they might benefit from it personally, but the entire Demon Race would inevitably decline because of this.

So, listen to me, don’t make this deal with her!

However, Lord Xi’s words did nothing to douse the greed brewing in the hearts of the Four Warriors. Their long-standing thirst for power had dulled their senses.

At that moment, the Goddess of Destiny declared she wouldn’t make any promises until they reached a unanimous decision, and she was running out of patience.

Miss the opportunity now, and it might never come again.

Driven by their desire to grow stronger, the Four Warriors, led by Valentine the mage, launched a surprise attack on Lord Xi and the group.

A chaotic brawl ensued.

Though Lord Xi was much stronger than any one of them, the four, working together, gradually wore her down.

And as she and the other three members of the bl**d Moon Team fought desperately to carve a path out, they were steadily overwhelmed by the countless minions of the Four Warriors.

Lilith even watched in horror as Lord Xi was pierced through the chest by the armored warrior Cliff. In utter despair, she almost charged into battle, but then she realized that if she died, everything that happened here would be buried forever.

So, she begrudgingly activated her unique escape skill, temporarily fleeing the Sky Tower.

After gaining power, the Four Warriors immediately returned to the Demon Race territory and, per the Goddess of Destiny’s orders, began a massive purge, slaughtering all secret arts users except for their four.

Of course, Lilith’s escape was a huge thorn in their side.

There was no way they would allow such a variable to exist, so they didn’t cease their pursuit of her.

Upon returning to the castle, weighed down by her injuries and the relentless pursuit of her enemies, Lilith had no choice but to choose sleep over endangering others.

And so she slept for three thousand years.

But no matter how much time passed, that Goddess of Destiny’s faint voice, tinged with a bit of raspiness, was almost identical to the so-called messenger in front of her.

In other words, she wasn’t a messenger at all; she was the real Goddess of Destiny who had appeared at the foot of the Sky Tower!

If not for her appearance and deliberate provocation, how could the Demon Race have been stuck in stagnation and even regression for four thousand years?

She had laid out the plan to use the Four Warriors’ blades to eliminate all potential threats because she feared the Demon Race might surpass her control.

Thinking of this, Lilith could no longer hold back.

If before, she put down her weapons in deference to Lord Xi, now it seemed very possible that both Lord Xi and the bl**d Moon Team had been misled or even controlled by this woman.

But just as she drew her weapon, Xi nonchalantly kicked it out of her hand.

Lilith crashed to the ground like a meteor, smashing through the roof of a cottage.

“Lilith, I warned you not to show the slightest disrespect in front of our lord.”

The other three members of the bl**d Moon Team stood there, weapons in hand, casting cold glares at where Lilith had fallen.

Lilith crawled out of the debris, tears in her eyes. “Why, Lord Xi!

Can’t you see she’s the reason behind the whole decline of the Demon Race? You wouldn’t have made some deal with her like the Four Warriors did back then, would you?”

Xi sighed. “Though our lord resembles that Goddess of Destiny, she is not the same person.”

“What?” Lilith was momentarily speechless.

Lin Nan chimed in, “Lord Xi is right. Believe it or not, that’s the way it is. My goal is the same as yours: to revive the Demon Race and restore its former glory.

However, we are less than two years away from the divine punishment that will annihilate all life, and I can’t let you destroy the Empire. After all, the current nobles still have some power, and I need them.”

Lilith glanced deeply at Xi once more.

His gaze was still resolute and calm, just like in the past. If what he said wasn’t heartfelt, he wouldn’t be so composed right now.

So, she chose to believe Lord Xi.

“I’m sorry. I was impulsive.”

Lilith knelt again, bowing her head to the ground, as if that was the only way to express her apology.

“It’s fine, but now we must pick up the pace. I have a feeling the instability from the Emperor’s side might be more severe than we imagined.”
