Chapter 3: Unifying the Three Races (10)
After a million players surged into the Asking Dao Continent and endured a brutal winter, how many survivors could be left?
That question was like trying to find a needle in a haystack—no answer in sight.
But one thing was certain: those players who chose to spawn in the Human Race Continent were facing an uphill battle for survival, and boy, was it steep!
Especially in the Human strongholds like Sky Sword City and Sky Void City, they faced a horrific experience akin to near-total destruction. The number of survivors? Sparse!
So, if a player managed to survive both starvation and slaughter, they must have hit the luck jackpot.
After some time away, Lin Nan returned to Sky Sword City, marveling at the human resilience. The once-ruined city, torn apart by warfare, was starting to regain some buzz just one or two months later.
On tranquil nights after the fighting, more players gathered on the steps, gazing up at the stars as if waiting for divine intervention.
Those well-versed in constellations noticed that the star positions were way off from their Earthly versions—this was no home! They were in a completely different world, facing the grim reality that going back was an impossible dream.
They felt lucky just to be alive; who were they to wish for more?
Plus, everyone knew that soon enough, the Asking Dao Continent would face even harsher Divine Punishments, where even the most basic life form could be wiped clean.
Compared to those who had kicked the bucket, they had merely stretched out their time filled with despair and suffering.
If there’s no hope, what’s the difference between a person and a walking corpse?
Once inside Sky Sword City, Lin Nan didn’t rush into the Small Thousand World.
Instead, she dedicated a day or two to strolling around Sky Sword City, wanting to get a feel for the survivors’ thoughts and states of mind.
After all, her upcoming plan was shockingly audacious, and without the people’s utmost support, launching it would be a Herculean task.
Through some covert inquiries, she discovered that most people still had a positive outlook on tomorrow.
Though the Divine Punishment loomed, their trust in the Cold Moon Witch made them more than willing to join forces against the divine forces.
Just as the “High School History Teacher” mentioned on the forum, there was no one better than the Cold Moon Witch to unite the three races against their divine adversaries.
And through the forum, they had a good grasp of the recent chaotic events in the Demon Race Empire, gaining fresh insight into the Cold Moon Witch’s raw power and her utterly unique status.
Before long, they found themselves gearing up to dive headfirst into resisting the tidal wave of divine wrath—the “High School History Teacher” had left behind either a prophecy or a hopeful wish.
The first thing Lin Nan did upon entering the Small Thousand World was to meet with Luo Ying, the new sect leader of the Heavenly Sword Sect.
Her plan absolutely needed the support of the Human Race’s top sect.
The two spent an entire day discussing behind closed doors.
When they finally emerged from the meeting room, their expressions were as calm as if they were simply chatting about life and dreams, with no thoughts of the continent’s impending destruction.
“Luo Sect Leader, I’ll take my leave. Unifying the Human Race is now in your hands. I believe you’ll bring us good news soon,” said Lin Nan.
Luo Ying bowed, “Rest assured, Your Highness the Witch. I wouldn’t dare take the future of the Human Race lightly.”
And just like that, Lin Nan left.
She had been away from Cold Wind City for far too long, and she considered it her home. If she didn’t return to check in every so often, she felt a surge of longing.
As for the Extermination of Immortals Guild and the Demon-Slaying Squad led by Little Musashi, she had left them in the scarred remnants of Sky Void City.
“There might be some survivors nearby, whether they’re players or locals. Your mission is to gather them together. Our fates are now all tied together, and under the Divine Punishment, no one cares about your original identities,” she commanded.
Once Lin Nan left, Luo Ying’s expression turned serious.
She quickly summoned the Male Character, Fatty, and Luo Ying herself for a discussion.
The four of them were now the top power in the Heavenly Sword Sect, controlling its major departments.
“So you mean, the Witch wants you to unify the human realm ASAP?” asked White Peach, astonished.
Luo Ying nodded, “Historically, the Seven Great Sects have been independent, but with scheduled meetings that are just formalities—no one really takes the so-called Alliance Leader seriously.”
White Peach frowned, “Yeah, the Human Race has maintained this state for at least a few thousand years.”
Fatty shrugged, “What’s there to be afraid of? I’ve heard that the Sky Void Sect is no more, the Flowerless Palace is clinging to life by a thread, and Thousand Bird City completely answers to the Cold Moon Witch. So outside of the Heavenly Sword Sect, we’re left with only Deficient Moon Valley, Half Moon City, and the Monster-Catching Tribe.”
“If we can handle those, won’t the whole Human Race be in our hands?”
Luo Ying countered, “But it’s not as easy as you think. Especially Deficient Moon Valley and Half Moon City—they seem to be relatively unscathed during this disaster, unlike us at the Heavenly Sword Sect, where our elite forces have nearly been wiped out. Capturing them in a short time will not be a walk in the park.”
Male Character threw cold water on Fatty’s fiery hopes.
Luo Ying insisted, “Regardless of the challenges, we must try. If it sparks another war, then so be it.”
She glanced at the sunset outside the window and added, “Otherwise, we might be out of time.”
The other three could feel her determination.
The Cold Moon Witch must have said something that made her so resolute. After all, it involved the lives of beings across the Asking Dao Continent—this crucial moment wouldn’t allow stubborn individuals to get in the way.
“White Peach, let’s go check out Half Moon City, just the two of us.”
“Sure! That’s a place we’ve fought in together before!”
Fatty quickly chimed in, “Hey, you’re not taking us along?”
White Peach shot him a glare, and he instantly retreated.
“Well, be careful. We’ll hold down the fort in the Small Thousand World!” Fatty joked.
Male Character chimed in, “Yeah, this is a crucial time. Please stay safe, you two…”
As he spoke, he pulled out a jar of liquor from behind and handed it to Luo Ying. “Drink this on the way; I brewed it myself.”
Fatty, “…”
Dude, are you trying to get me in trouble?
Sure enough, White Peach shot him a look.
With no other choice, Fatty grinned and leaned in, asking, “How about a kiss for good luck?”
“Are you shameless? Not in front of others!”
Fatty was well aware of White Peach’s thoughts and immediately grabbed her hand, dragging her towards the next room, where the sounds of something embarrassing could be heard.
Male Character dropped the liquor and pulled Luo Ying in for a tight hug. Neither wanted to let go for a while.
