Chapter 27: Plot Discussion
The administrator knew it wasn’t her real name but didn’t mind.
“Performer, let me ask you, if you gained eternal life and couldn’t d*e no matter what, what would you do?”
“What kind of question is this?”
“Just pretend I saw an interesting plot in a book and want to discuss it with the only reader here. You can freely share your thoughts.”
“Plothook? Let me think about it~”
Night Star began to ponder, as if truly considering the administrator’s question.
If she could live forever, there were plenty of things she’d like to do.
Eternal life meant endless time, freeing her from personal worries.
Considering who she used to be before all the friendships—she’d probably just chill for a while, earn some money, then chill again. Life is short, enjoy what you can.
She didn’t have high material needs; surfing the internet was joy enough.
But now she had people she cared about, whether they were the little Lolis at the Night Watcher Base or her mates at the Rising Sun Theater Group. They’re all her good friends.
And her connection to the members of the Rising Sun Theater Group went beyond friendship—they might even be considered family to her.
With immortal abilities, she could be more daring.
Most reasons for being timid stemmed from fear of d*ath, losing things, and hurting those she cares about. It’s basically just that.
Night Star told the administrator her answer.
“That response is certainly unique.”
“Really?”
“I’ve heard many wish for immortality to avoid losing power or wealth, or to fulfill ambitions before d*ath. But your desire isn’t for those.”
“Well, I am pretty laid-back. I don’t have any grand ambitions or distant goals. Enjoying life is fine, but I don’t need eternal life. It’s enough for me to age gracefully.”
Night Star spoke with a defeated tone, genuinely so, without any fake sentiment.
“Is that right? I like your thinking,” the administrator said.
“How about you, Admin? What would you do with immortality?”
The administrator took a moment, then said, “I guess I’d seek out d*ath eventually.”
“Huh? Why?”
“Because not everyone has eternal life. Those who do can’t extend others’ lifespans. As you stay young, people around you d*e off. Over time, everyone changes—friends, family, companions—all fading away. Watching them go is terribly sad.”
“Hmm… That does make sense.”
Night Star had seen many stories about lifespan topics, most involving characters living alone as everyone else dies.
This thought was hard to bear.
Maybe that’s a human thing: only those focused on big, long-term goals might enjoy immortality.
The administrator added, “Plus, immortality attracts trouble. Without enough strength for protection, you can easily become a research subject, right?”
“Mm, I get it. Slice-and-dice studies are scary. Just imagining being experimented on creeps me out.”
Night Star had seen her fair share of those themes.
“So I imagine that’d be horrifying—immortals unable to d*e in agony and being tormented daily,” the administrator continued.
“Yeah, true.”
Night Star nodded, then asked, “So, Admin, does the book you read have such a plot? I’m curious, wanna check it out?”
The administrator shook their head.
“Forgot the title, but I remember some parts. Want to know, I can tell you.”
“Sounds intriguing.”
“The story goes like this: An immortal who’s survived countless tragedies gets trapped for decades by evildoers. After escaping, she still seeks a way out, but now waiting for someone to bring d*ath. She waits for anyone to give her… d*ath…”
“Sounds like a tragedy.” Night Star mumbled.
“But if she finds release, wouldn’t that be the best ending for her?”
“So this book isn’t finished?”
“Sorry, didn’t finish it, no idea about the rest.”
“Oh well, what a shame.”
Then Night Star puffed up and declared, “But if the character in the book met me, it’d be a perfect ending!”
“Why?”
“I’m great at making everything end well! No matter the tragedy, I’ll turn it to comedy.”
The administrator looked puzzled and speechless.
A while later, Night Star finished reading a comic book and prepared to leave the library.
Today, she had a blast.
Finishing the theater group’s performance and chatting so long with the intellectual big sister made her incredibly happy.
“See ya, Admin sister! I’ll come back to read more next time.”
“Uh-huh.”
The administrator watched her leave and murmured to herself.
“Unknown to you, perhaps we have different ideas of perfect endings. Maybe to you, everything is a tragedy from start to finish.”

When Night Star sneaked out of the library, she saw that the previously cracked floor was restored.
She had no clue which bricklayer with celestial powers did that, probably a superstar bricklayer.
With tourists flooding back to the Entertainment District, she spotted nothing suspicious and used Existence Interference to vanish before leaving.

Hmm… feels like getting something to eat.
