Chapter 38: The Dirt
“Geez, what a coincidence.”
Night Star grumbled, his feelings as mixed as stir-fried noodles.
Mo Qianmeng snapped back to reality and stared at Night Star with suspicion.
“Could it be that you know Mo Tu?”
“I guess so…”
Night Star didn’t know why he felt excited after finding out Mo Tu was his cousin.
Before he could say anything else, Mo Qianmeng narrowed her eyes.
“But how can you, as an Audience Performer of the Rising Sun Theater Group, know Mo Tu? Or perhaps there’s some dirty secret between him and your theater group?”
“Mmm…”
Night Star had no idea how to explain this.
The fact that Mo Tu was the Announcer for the theater group couldn’t be exposed. It was a secret among them.
Mo Qianmeng nodded and continued pondering.
“And that guy called me not long ago, telling me to get closer to the Rising Sun Theater Group. Clearly, he wanted to have some fun with me. Now it turns out you know him, and he must know you too. Seems like you two are quite close. That’s really weird…”
Interrupting Mo Qianmeng’s thoughts, Night Star decided they needed a detour.
“Hey hey! Big sis Qianmeng, do you want to hear about Mo Tu’s dirt?”
“Dirt?”
Mo Qianmeng was slightly stunned but then her eyes lit up.
“Do tell about his embarrassing adventures?”
“Sorta?”
“Tell me! Tell me now!”
Her voice rose clearly in volume, showing she was very much interested in the dirt story.
Night Star jumped a bit at her reaction and asked curiously, “It seems like you’re really into Mo Tu’s past mistakes.”
“Of course! I wouldn’t miss any chance to mock him. If I have his dirt, I’d call him every day just to laugh at him.”
The expression on Mo Qianmeng’s face was chilly, indicating she had quite the beef with her cousin.
Night Star found himself suddenly curious about their history.
“Could you, uh, tell me why you want to mess with him?”
Pondering for a moment, Mo Qianmeng nodded. “Sure, it’s not like it’s a big secret.”
With that, Night Star perked up, ready to hear the juicy drama between the announcer and his cousin.
She then began sharing her story.
“At first, we lived next to each other, both neighbors and relatives. At first sight, I thought he was such a gentle big brother, always smiling warmly. He seemed nice—until I spent more time with him. Turns out he was a real j*rk, never treating me like a cousin. Instead, he found amusement in pushing my buttons, which really ticked me off…”
Listening, Night Star got a good sense of how absurd Mo Tu once was. His personality hadn’t changed one bit over the years.
“Then what happened?”
“After me and he became Stars, we were discovered by the Night Watchers and brought to the Night Watcher Base for training. That’s when we officially joined the ranks.”
“Oh.”
“Later, Mo Tu was transferred to Yun Chang City and I was sent to Qi Yuan City. We rarely spoke after that.”
“Huh, so you guys really didn’t get along well?”
“He never treated me like family, only bothered when he was bored.”
“That’s pretty rotten of him.”
“Indeed, totally rotten.”
Both Night Star and Mo Qianmeng agreed on this sentiment.
Then Mo Qianmeng stared at Night Star seriously, “Though I don’t know why you know him, if you have any dirt on him, I’m willing to buy it from you.”
“Wow.”
Night Star realized Mo Qianmeng was serious.
Looks like she was planning to confront him after getting Mo Tu’s dirt.
He wondered how much this kid had been bullied.
By the way, the dirt Night Star referred to was actually photos of Mo Rabbit before she changed back.
Back then, Night Star quickly snapped a few shots to keep as fond memories. They might also help lift his spirits when needed.
For Mo Tu, turning into a loli should definitely count as dirt. If anyone knew, he’d be super embarrassed.
Night Star figured if Mo Tu could still find happiness after being a loli, that would be flipping the universe!
He was really looking forward to seeing Mo Qianmeng mock him with a phone call.
Meanwhile, the lonesome Night Lan would secretly observe, waiting for the right moment to swoop in with a grin and laugh, saying something like, “I just love seeing your flustered face.”
Karma’s a b*tch, right?
But there was a serious problem looming.
If Mo Qianmeng saw those pictures of Mo Rabbit, she might instantly recognize her as Mo Tu. This could blow the lid off the identity of the Announcer for the Rising Sun Theater Group.
This could lead Mo Tu to be punished by the Night Watcher Base, ruining the only complete theater group in existence.
Night Star worried terribly about the consequences for Mo Tu and the future of the group.
Night Star paused and told Mo Qianmeng, “Can’t we do this later?”
“Why?”
“Well… You see, it involves the group’s secrets. But I promise, I’ll give it to you eventually!”
Mo Qianmeng squinted slightly, ultimately nodding.
“Fine, I’ll wait.”
Seeing Mo Qianmeng wasn’t going to press further, Night Star let out a sigh of relief.
At least they dodged the question for now!
