Chapter 60: Eternal Watchers
Cut to the chase.
Ice Lixie noticed the disturbance caused by the Star Eclipses and decided to check it out.
Just as she did, a fierce storm brewed up elsewhere, carrying a wind familiar to her. It was Wind Howl.
After another violent gust of wind, Wind Howl moved again, tearing through air in several places with clear intent.
Ice Lixie quickly understood Wind Howl’s goal: take down the Night Watchers one by one!
“No way you’re gettin’ away with this.”
Ice Lixie rapidly transferred towards Wind Howl’s location, still not at full speed but much faster than before.
In the meantime, the Number Two Experiment Subject was merrily thrashing Night Watchers left and right. Under the influence of level superiority, the Watchers couldn’t even fight back, getting owned easily.
Adding the humiliation of being flattened by a Superno-Stars Eclipses earlier, the frustration exploded inside him. No mercy at all.
Strong winds swept the defenseless Watchers up into the skies, slamming them against walls and dropping them down again, infected by the Star Eclipses’ power all over.
Within seconds, he had wiped out scattered Watchers across the area.
How easy could it get?
Who could stop him aside from a mysterious Super Nova Stars Eclipse just now?
As Number Two vented his rage, a tall figure with white hair rushed toward him.
“Hold it!”
Ice Lixie stared straight at the Artificial Star Eclipses before her, no longer gentle.
Number Two didn’t waste words and unleashed a powerful punch.
“Vortex Wind!”
A violent whirlwind carried Ice Lixie in, with Star Eclipses’ powers ravaging her body, leaching her life force.
Feeling his opponent’s energy wane, Number Two churned up dozens of sharp winds into the storm, creating a terrifying blender of destruction.
“Heh, even if you were Sunlight, so what? You’re only level twenty-five! I’m level a hundred! Rule-wise, I have you beat, so there’s no way you can win! Now, perish!”
The storm grew stronger, the immense tearing forces demolishing nearby buildings, threatening to expand even further.
A few moments later, Number Two sensed the other’s life signal vanish.
“It’s done? Piece of cake.”
The storm dissipated, revealing the lifeless form plummeting to the ground.
Just as Number Two prepared to hunt down another Sunlight Watcher, a new life signal caught his attention.
The one he thought dead was standing again, unscathed.
On closer look, her level sign changed to “Lv50.”
This made Number Two widen his eyes wide and instinctively slash out with his strongest wind blade.
BOOM!
Dust flew everywhere.
Life signal disappeared once more.
Number Two remained shocked, unable to process the scene.
“What just happened? She clearly died, but now… Is she faking d*ath?”
But there was no mistaking it.
That attack should’ve been enough to crush even a level fifty body—life signal disappearing proved it.
But here comes the twist.
Dust cleared, and a new figure rose, grade label now “Lv75.”
“!!”
Number Two gasped, unleashing all his strength out of fear of the unknown.
“d*e!!”
BOOM!
Everything within the area was obliterated by the vicious storm that resembled a nuclear explosion.
Such was the terror of an Ultra Star Eclipses; if it went out of control in a crowded place, major losses were inevitable.
Number Two’s chest heaved with suppressed turmoil; his Star Eclipses powers teetered on losing control.
He nearly got consumed by them.
Phew.
“She’s definitely gone this time…”
That Sunlight Watcher stood amidst the wreckage, powerful enough to tear a human to shreds; if a regular person were here, they’d be toast thousands of times over.
If she still weren’t dead, Number Two would consider her a monster beyond the top experiment.
Goddamn, these Sunlight Watchers aren’t easy to take down, even under those strict rules.
At a moment’s relaxation, Ice Lixie’s familiar energy flared again.
Ding! Ding! Boom!
Number Two froze—heart skipping a beat.
Ice Lixie stood grounded, golden eyes radiating soul-chilling light, emanating unbelievable pressure!
Her grade…
Lv??
In the meantime…
The Night Watcher Base, Hei Yang, received news of a massive explosion in the front lines, chaos everywhere.
It looked like it came from an exploding Ultra Star Eclipses Wind Howl, somehow provoked.
Surely, she must have clashed with Ice Lixie.
He knew Ice Lixie had the Stars known as the Eternal Watchers.
Even if her physical self and spirit were gone, she couldn’t d*e, constantly revived back to age seventeen and enhanced each time, potentially stacking infinitely.
But there was a serious downside: the pain of dying would carry over too.
So Ice Lixie always seemed on the verge of heart failure, suffering immense agony while concealing it deep down, driven only by sheer will.
Who’d have guessed that beneath that mild demeanor lay such a secret?
She might just be the easiest Watcher to turn into a Star Eclipses.
No one knows how many times she’s been killed and reborn since awakening her star.
Whenever Black Sun thought she was about to break, she didn’t falter, standing strong.
Respectable indeed.
During daytime, Black Sun held the reins; by night, Ice Lixie guaranteed security.
With or without Black Sun around, another battle-ready Sunlight would pick up the slack.
If the Sunset Research Institute knew this, they probably wouldn’t be so bold.
Cut to…
Back to the main battle.
Number Two frantically regarded the rejuvenated figure, ready to run for his life.
Now he was sure—
That Watcher is an unstoppable, growing monster!
Run!
Before Number Two could turn to flee, Ice Lixie appeared right behind him like an instant teleport, wind not even reacting.
“In the name of the Sunlight Night Watcher, I declare your downfall.”
“Hold on!”
Ice Lixie punched, breaking the sound barrier, slamming Number Two into the ground with a deafening crack.
BAM!!
Ground shattered, Number Two embedded, organs pulped, research drugs useless.
Dark energy spewed from his body, fading into the breeze.
BOOM!
