Chapter 11: Ages of Yore

Time moved to evening.
Night Lan had already finished dinner and returned to her room.
Recalling today’s experiences, she and Night Feather had browsed around headquarters but hadn’t made it all the way through.
Headquarters was enormous, making one feel like there’s just no end to it. Without realizing it, the day slipped into night.
Night Lan thought she’d encounter some sort of plot at headquarters, perhaps bump into someone or be confronted by someone, maybe even trigger some special event.
But her day was rather uneventful.
The staff at headquarters were busy with their tasks, the night watchers patrolling outside almost non-stop.
With such a vast city and so many night watchers on patrol, you’d think nothing could possibly go wrong.
“Absolutely terrifying.”
Night Lan felt if she tried to take it easy in such an environment, she’d be extremely uncomfortable. It gave her a sense of guilt just thinking about it.
Then, Night Lan thought of other places.
The most talked-about topic today was naturally the eclipse incident and the group leader.
The HQ staff were curious about what the group leader’s intentions might be.
Some suspected he bore a grudge against tonight’s eclipse, traveling from afar to settle matters. Others speculated that the Rising Sun Theater was already in the capital and might perform somewhere over the weekend. Yet others suspected foul play. Speculations ran wild.
And there were some speculations that made sense—like the thought of someone being connected with the group leader on the plane. That was just terrifying.
Night Lan thought it best to leave soon; otherwise, she’d surely blow her cover sooner or later.
Headquarters was too dangerous for her, this little loli, to fish with ease.
Now, Night Lan was carefree and could leave anytime.
She figured small Yun Chang City would suit her better anyway.
Afterward, Night Lan started thinking about another place.
This place was about the group leader.
He appeared on the plane, swiftly killing the sky eclipse without hesitation.
So, the group leader must be quite ruthless towards his own kind?
Or possibly, he took action because that eclipse put him in danger?
If it was the latter, then Night Lan felt that the sense of security offered by the group leader reached the zenith of the skies.
Perhaps he only had to come out from the theater?
For such an immensely reassuring old man, Night Lan truly fell in love.
Thus, her curiosity about the group leader’s past began to grow.
What was the reason behind the group leader turning into an eclipse?
“Curious.”
As time passed, Night Lan decided she had stalled enough. She planned to bring Night Star here, then bathe and sleep with her snugly.
At present, Night Star was still at the library in Qi Yuan City with Book Yao, preparing to return.
A while later, Night Star and Book Yao came back through the theater entrance.
Book Yao spotted Night Lan instantly, puzzled: “Why is Night Lan here?”
Beside her, Night Star replied: “Because we’re going back to sleep, it’s more comfortable that way.”
“You have this habit? Can I join?”
“Huh?” Night Star nearly failed to react.
Book Yao chuckled lightly, shaking her head.
“Just joking, don’t mind it.”
“Don’t joke like that, I thought you actually meant it.”
“Well, in some ways, you can.”
“Is that a joke too?”
“It can be, or it can not.”
Night Star pondered for a moment before deciding to give up.
“In any case, let’s plan a pajama party sometime.”
Just as Night Lan and Night Star were about to leave, Book Yao suddenly said, “Night Star, I just remembered something about the group. Want to hear it?”
“The group? Okay, go ahead.”
Night Lan and Night Star sat down, prepared to listen to what Book Yao had to say.
Kong Yu Bai and Lian Hua also walked over after learning what Book Yao was about to reveal; they took their seats, too.
Seeing them ready, Book Yao opened up:
“I’ve heard of the Rising Sun Theater troupe for a long time. You see, I’ve lived through many eras and experienced the period when stage performances were flourishing. I visited many theaters in those days, and the name ‘Rising Sun Theater’ lingered in my mind.”
“The era of the flourishing stage performances… wasn’t that almost a hundred years ago?” Kong Yu Bai guessed.
However, Book Yao shook her head.
“No, it’s much further back than that.”
Hearing this, Night Lan found it unbelievable.
“So the Rising Sun Theater has existed for ages?”
“Apparently,” Book Yao nodded gently.
This left Night Lan puzzled.
“Hmm… But didn’t the group activities start recently? The records from night watchmen clearly show it hasn’t been beyond a century.”
“That might be for other reasons. Based on my recollections, I definitely remember hearing about the ‘Rising Sun Theater,’” Book Yao stressed firmly.
Though her prolonged confusion led her to forget many things, triggering certain keywords could make her recall quickly.
Her mental power seemed high, even if half of it was taken away—it would still surpass that of the Sunlight Night Watchers.
Therefore, her memories wouldn’t vanish easily; even if forgotten, they remained hidden in the depths of her mind.
“Uh-huh…”
Night Lan muttered to herself upon hearing this: “So it’s possible the group leader and his crew are from ancient times? No wonder their magic shows are so archaic; they must have been experts back then.”
Night Lan grew curious.
She wanted to witness the glory of the Rising Sun Theater.
In the heyday of stage performances, the Rising Sun Theater must have been legendary!
A while later, Night Lan and Night Star left the theater, returning to their private rooms at headquarters.
Afterward, they took off their clothes and got ready to bathe.
Prior to coming to headquarters, Night Lan had brought along a double set of clothes, so there wasn’t an issue.
Bare and exposed, she and Night Star entered the bathroom. They found the bathtub spacious enough not just for two adults, let alone little lolis.
Night Lan turned on the hot water, while Night Star searched for shampoo, body wash, and the like, preparing to clean up.
Warm mists floated around the bathroom, enveloping their tender skins in a soft glow.
Splash!
A bit later, they washed away the soapy suds clinging to their pink skin, then both dove into the tub.
“Aaaah… So comfy~”
“Yep, so so~”
Night Lan and Night Star displayed tired but adorable expressions simultaneously.
