Chapter 118: Demon Deity (Part 1)
And that fierce offensive ultimately failed to reach the location where the demon resided.
Just as the endless golden light was less than twenty meters from the black sphere and about to slam into that thick black mist, suddenly, they heard a dragon’s roar that echoed across the skies, bringing with it a storm of chaos!
“ROAR—!!!”
That roar was like a tempest, stirring up dust and wind, exploding out from within the black sphere and engulfing the entire gloomy sky, crashing into everyone’s ears with unmatched might.
“Ughhhhhh—”
The Elder Cleric, the clerics of the Faith Organization, and the few remaining knights who were still desperately resisting the demons all immediately covered their ears. Some dropped their blades, while others howled in agony from the pain in their eardrums; the entire world in that moment was filled with a “buzz, buzz, buzz” noise, and within that sound, a pale dragon thrust its colossal head out of the cleaved black mist of the sphere.
Buzz—
It opened its razor-toothed, bloody maw, and a thick, blinding white beam erupted from its mouth, instantly shattering the net of golden spears filling the sky, only to be followed by a more intense barrage of holy light beams from behind!
Boom boom boom boom boom—!!!
The booming explosions in the sky merged into one, countless divine miracles shattered under the dragon’s rampaging energy with just a touch, and the horrifying light beam surged forth uncontrollably, slamming into the ground and into the knights who had entirely lost their will to resist, countless bodies disintegrating in an instant, their screams cut short.
The terrifying energy beams wrought havoc across the wasteland, carving a fiery chasm into the earth, sending up clouds of ashes that disappeared over the horizon.
“Oh, Deity…”
In the scorching air, the scent of d*ath permeated. The Elder Cleric had been knocked down from mid-air by the roar, breaking his leg. Sitting on the ground in a daze, a cleric hit by the sweeping light beam lay beside him, half of his insides spilling out, his consciousness seemingly not yet completely faded; his empty gaze stared up at the darkening sky, his mouth slightly opening, but the words never came out.
“Oh, Deity—!!!”
The Elder Cleric cried out to the heavens, his murky eyes filling with despair: “Are you even watching us… watching what’s happening on this land?”
Rumbling, rumbling…
Ahead, accompanied by earthquake-like tremors, an endless tide of demons completely drowned the knights still putting up a scattered resistance, rolling over them.
…
On the scorched earth of Abyss Mud, the wind gradually calmed down.
Rumble—
Scarlet lightning streaked across the rolling black clouds; the black sphere below had disappeared without anyone noticing, the terrifying flow no longer pouring down, and the white dragon was nowhere to be seen. Only the petite demon opened her wings, hovering steadily within the bright lightning.
“… There’s one more.”
She gazed at the black tide below that had nearly consumed the First Knights Order but was still rolling further away, whispering to herself, her doll-like face revealing no expression.
Only her eyes, matching the lightning in scarlet, rapidly searched the distance for a target— and soon, she spotted a struggling cleric controlling a beast, hurriedly fleeing westward across the desolate land.
“Heh.”
The small demon chuckled softly.
She didn’t rush to chase after him; instead, with a sudden wave of her arm, the black smoke surged forth, and the demon tide below transformed into endless gray mist in an instant. The fog floated upwards, seemingly obscuring the entire sky, swirling into a towering vortex a hundred feet high around the girl, all rushing into her body.
In the blink of an eye, the rampaging demons vanished, as if they had never existed, leaving behind the endless abyss of black mud gazing down, with the color of d*ath replacing the once-tranquil town that had been here. From that moment on, the place known as “Mase” completely disappeared from this world, along with the simple faces of those who once lived there.
The young woman slowly tilted her head back in the gray sky, closing her eyes.
Those faces seemed to flash through her mind at that moment.
But it was just for a moment.
The next second, when she opened her scarlet eyes again, her body encased in black armor suddenly shot forward, her fiery bat wings flapping with a thunderous roar, flickering several times in the gray sky before diving toward the wasteland with an intense dive, resembling an eagle hunting its prey but far more terrifying.
Below, the young bishop named Aresta heard the rush of wind just as it bore down on him. He turned anxiously on his beast’s back, seeing the demon’s figure coming in low from behind, the air around her swirling into white mist, the “bang, bang, bang” of sonic booms echoing incessantly, and she was now less than three hundred meters away.
That distance was closing in rapidly.
“d*mn it all—!!!”
Aresta’s scalp went numb in fear, screaming in panic, his voice breaking as he hurled divine miracles backward, golden light flinging from the buzz of sound, the beast beneath him galloping at full speed, and massive chains erupted from the ground he raced over, ringing out with loud clinks, with dozens of golden chains writhing like serpents, soaring higher into the sky in a desperate attempt to intercept the terrifying figure that was barreling toward them.
But the next moment, as that figure whipped through with a fierce gust, the chains were tossed around by the wind, the spread net disrupted by the air currents, and in his frantic confusion, Aresta turned back again, seeing the demon had simply thrown a fist forward, and that punch shattered the flailing chains into pieces!
Boom—!!
Amidst the huge dull sound, the sky filled with the shrapnel of golden light, and the air stirred chaotically around him; the miracles he had cast forth crumbled before her as if made of paper, not even hindering her slightly before they turned to dust and drifted away.
That was not the kind of power a girl should possess…
But what good was it to think about that now?
“Go—”
Aresta’s expression tightened, cold sweat soaking his robe, his body trembling uncontrollably; he could no longer think about anything else. In his mind, there was nothing but “I’m going to d*e,” nothing else mattered—family, glory, the Fire Seed, the mission—none of it was more important than his own life at that moment.
Numbly fleeing, urging his beast to run faster, all he could hear was the wind whistling past his ears. When he turned back for the third time to check how close the demon was, the young man suddenly realized that amid the now-exploding and gradually fading golden light, the fierce figure of the girl had already vanished.
It’s over…
That thought suddenly flashed through his mind.
And in the next instant, the beast beneath him flipped!
