I Come From the Abyss to Save Humanity Today – Chapter 1019

Chapter 102: The Traitor of the Holy Song (Part Two)

“Not only won’t you d*e, but you’ll also become even stronger than back in Woodward Forest, closer to the Deity,” the man said, excitement shining through his heavy eyelids.

Romani…

Ah, Romani again.

“You all are just—”

Like a pesky ghost that never leaves, lurking in the depths of the Night, afraid to face the Light, yet always ready to pop up out of nowhere, as if I might forget that name.

That woman, gentle and serene on the surface, but as cold as a snake in her bones.

I absolutely did not want to hear about her again.

Whoosh!

Amidst the chaotic winds, the petite figure vanished once more, suddenly reappearing just half a leap away from Chris, her right hand clawing towards his throat.

In that split second, the man’s pupils dilated.

If he had suffered a brief defeat earlier due to an eagerness to escape, now he was on high alert.

Using Romani’s name was clearly an attempt to throw off the girl’s concentration. Chris was preparing to fight back; he knew escaping her without paying a price wouldn’t be easy. His best bet was poison, and while Mandrake had lost its effect on her, he had plenty of other tricks up his sleeve.

And that slap? Oh, it left his face burning.

The man planned to catch her off guard; the pivotal moment was when she made her next move. He thought this as he watched her every minute change with unblinking eyes.

However, even so, Chris still couldn’t clearly capture how she made her move.

When her figure was once again right in front of him, he didn’t even have a moment to react. His expression still held the previous moment’s smile until he felt a tremendous pressure at his throat and found himself gasping for air, abruptly contorting his face, mouth agape like a fish out of water, eyes bulging and bloodshot.

“Cough—”

Whoosh!

The sound of wind blasting into his ears felt like Sword Saint Ryan had smacked him on the head; it sent reverberations cascading from the farthest reaches of the world.

The scene before his eyes—those filthy alleys and crumbling old buildings—suddenly exploded in his mind, flying backward as it blurred in the chaotic winds.

If one were to look down from above, on the eastern bank of the river, in a filthy, inconspicuous corner of a street, a fierce wind spiraled like a tornado, bursting outward with a thundering “boom.” The shock waves were visible, powerful enough to make the ground sink.

In an instant, the carts, baskets, and countless bits of rubble along the roads shattered into pieces from this astonishing tremor.

Gray waves surged violently; broken wood splintered into the air, creating a cacophony that startled an innocuous civilian peeking from a second-floor window, causing him to shudder and hurriedly retreat before the deadly dust cloud could reach him.

The next moment, two entangled shadows rushed out from that wind!

Whoosh—

They shot toward the desolate street in the east at a speed almost invisible to the n*ked eye, crashing through several walls as they passed, smoke and dust billowing like an explosion, causing nearby witnesses to drop to the ground in shock, with nearby children crying, whisked away by their mothers who hastily locked their doors.

Farther away, three or four indistinct figures quickly leapt across rooftops, their distinct sword-mark insignia visible on their shoulders—Rect and the Sword of Kanli were hot on their heels.

Using their agility, they quickly neared the source of the battle, standing atop a surrounding rooftop as they vigorously waved to the crowd watching below, shouting for everyone to get back inside.

Then came a resounding “boom,” which made everyone flinch. As they turned to see what was happening, they found the fight had come to a stop in the old Filik district, just as an abandoned church withstood the colossal sound and collapsed amidst billowing smoke, signaling an end to the astonishing destruction.

Seeing this, Rect finally let out a sigh of relief.

Looks like she was finally listening…

“Everyone, don’t act recklessly!”

With that thought, he swiftly gestured to his companions, “Leave the civilians to her. Without my permission, no one is to approach too closely! Our top priority is saving lives, understood?”

“Yes, Captain!”

…………

Boom!!!

In the midst of the crash, the old church crumbled into ruins instantly. As stones fell, amidst the swirling dust, one could faintly see the girl’s petite figure with her flowing hair.

The hat she used to hide her face had long since blown away, her long hair flowing wild in the chaotic gusts. She stepped on a toppled stone pillar, bent down, and yanked out a severely injured man named Chris from the rubble!

“Come on.” The girl spoke softly.

Crash—

Not terribly strong, but certainly bigger than her, Chris, the doctor, was pulled from the pile of stones. The instant he raised his hand, the girl’s left fist crashed into him like a thunderclap, literally knocking him back!

Boom—!

The sound echoed, stirring up even more dust. Amid the cracking of bones and pained groans, the girl continued in a cold, indifferent tone, “Now it’s my turn to beat you.”

Her voice sounded a bit weak, almost playful, like a little girl teasing an adult, but before the word finished, the “adult” was sent flying from the dust, his shadow flitting away to land dozens of meters away on the grass, leaving a trail of dark red bl**d.

“Try to resist seriously if you dare…”

The girl jumped out of the rubble, slowly closing in on him, “Or maybe try running away a few more times…”

Her hair was a little messy, and her uniform fluttered in the wind. A fleeting red glimmer shone in her dark eyes before fading away. She sheathed her Dragon Claw at her waist, her face soft and delicate, yet the pressure it exuded was unlike anything Chris had ever experienced.

The bloodied, tattered man struggled to rise, crimson fluid flowing down his face and fingers. He gasped for breath, his lungs feeling like a defective bellows, with only a faint thought in his mind: that girl was getting closer, and his heart raced, instinctively summoning the Power of Order, conjuring turbulent waters around him and sending them flying.

“Don’t overthink it; just figure out how to survive…”

Chris heard the girl speaking, her words a buzzing hum. He was opening and closing his mouth but didn’t understand what she meant; d*mn it…

As he witnessed the torrents of water shooting out, able to pierce steel with ease, he couldn’t even approach the girl before the cold aura surrounding her froze the streams solid. Then, with a sharp crack, they splintered into icy needles that shot back at him with a piercing shriek as she casually waved a finger.

d*mn, d*mn, d*mn…

The speed and distance were beyond Chris’s ability to dodge. Arms, legs, chest—he was hit several times by the ice spikes. One even bounced off his mask with a “clang.” He felt the acute chill but didn’t have time to feel pain, only numbness…

With his body giving way, he started to kneel.

In the next moment, the girl changed her step, whooshing back in front of him, grabbing his shoulder with her left hand while her right fist clenched tight, coiled like a spring—she wasn’t letting him breathe for a second, her punch launched like a tiger’s roar, barreling right toward him!

“What do you have to say, Romani—”

Bang!!

That solid punch slammed into his chest, knocking Chris backward into the ground, his back hitting the earth with a sound that shattered the surface beneath him.

“Puh!”

bl**d gushed from the man’s mouth.

He felt like his lungs had burst.

Forgetting everything else, he quickly recited a healing miracle under his breath as golden light enveloped him.

“d*mn it…”

In that moment, his haze of consciousness cleared.

The gentlemanly smile he had worn earlier vanished without a trace, replaced by a vicious glare, a face contorted by rage.

He ripped an ice spike from himself and hurled it at the girl’s delicate neck!

“Chirp, chirp, chirp…”

However, the girl easily dodged it. As she spoke, her fist came flying with a wind like a striking snake, aimed right at the man’s face.

If it lands, he’s done for!

“Ahhh—!”

Chris’s pupils widened, his face contorted in fear as he instinctively screamed, pulling out a media ball with the speed of a lifetime as the golden light erupted with a “buzz.”

This was his last media ball.

Instinctively used in haste, he didn’t even have a clear destination. But after escaping, Chris couldn’t care about that; he pulled out a packet of powder from his pocket, swallowing it as green motes swirled around his wounds, expelling ice spikes and reconnecting broken bones.

His injuries seemed to be healing fast.

Yet before he fully recovered, an astounding wind howled, and the girl was right on him again. Her small figure landed nearby, sprinting toward him without any fancy moves, relying solely on brute force as she punched right at his face.

The clashing sounds “swish, swish” rang out. Chris forced himself to stabilize and barely blocked a few strikes, then summoned the Power of Order, spinning water flows around him to form blades aimed at the girl while he tried to make his escape. Just as he leaped, he felt something grip his ankle.

Chris whipped around—

“Hey, I have a question for you.”

The water blades froze mid-air, plummeting to the ground.

She looked at him, neither sad nor happy, her tone somewhere between leisurely and cold, as if she were politely dismissing a conversation with someone she neither liked nor hated. She said, “Are we that familiar?”

That face, once seared into memory, beautiful enough to captivate both continents, now appeared to Chris more terrifying than the world’s most wicked demon!
