5 Mom! Dad is trying to escape!
The pride of the Dragon Slayer wouldn’t let Leon just sit there and wait for his fate.
He had to do something to avoid becoming a dried-up corpse drained by the Mother Dragon.
After a quick rest, Leon regained some stamina.
He got out of bed and peeked out the window.
He still remembered the route from two years ago when he led the attack on the Silver Dragon Temple, and in the two years since, Roswiser hadn’t really done any redecorating in her lair.
So Leon could still sneak out based on the route etched in his memory.
Yes, Leon was going to make a run for it.
He wasn’t about to just sit around in this dragon den waiting for Roswiser to treat him like a starry-eyed trophy, was he?
As for the dragon pattern that Roswiser had just left on his chest, he definitely couldn’t return to the Empire as “Leon Casmod, Dragon Slayer.”
That would be the ultimate shame for him as a Dragon Slayer.
Leon had to completely abandon his past—his reputation, status, income, and so on, living under a brand new identity.
That wasn’t too hard for Leon.
In any case, he just needed to escape.
Before officially making his break, Leon prepared a bit.
He rummaged around the room.
If Roswiser had kept him in this room for the past two years, there should be some nutritional potions or something lying around.
Leon’s body was still pretty weak, and without some energy supplements, he wouldn’t get far.
After rummaging through a mess, Leon found a whole box of nutritional potions in the nightstand.
Then he scoured the room for anything edible.
Finally, before leaving, Leon intended to leave Roswiser a snide note.
But after thinking it over, he decided against it.
If he accidentally got caught again, Roswiser would definitely turn that note into a stage for further humiliating him.
As for that little dragon girl named Moon…
Let’s just say she was getting the ‘divorce settlement’ in favor of Roswiser.
There was no way Leon was taking her with him.
Even if Leon wanted to, Moon probably wouldn’t agree and might even snitch to Roswiser.
After all, no matter how you looked at it, the traits of the Dragon Race were too obvious on that little creature.
And with Roswiser raising her these past two years, she was bound to lean more towards Roswiser.
But regardless of whether he succeeded in escaping or not, attitude was key.
Leon stuffed the nutritional potions and food into a messenger bag, then threw on a hoodie and quietly slipped out of the room.
He expected someone to be on guard, but to his surprise, the hallway was eerily empty.
This gave Leon a great opportunity to escape.
He kept close to the wall, pausing at each corner to peek around and assess the situation.
Very cautious.
However, not being familiar with the layout of the temple, Leon ended up going in circles, wasting quite a bit of time before finally finding the exit.
To his astonishment, even the front door of the temple had no guards.
“What’s up with the Silver Dragon Temple having a weird vibe, like it just laid off half its employees…”
He clearly remembered being swarmed by Dragon Race guards two years ago during his assault on the temple.
Now, it felt suspiciously deserted.
Leon gulped, “Forget it, just run!”
He glanced around and quickly dashed down the temple stairs.
He sprinted through the courtyard straight towards the side door.
When he got close to the side door, he ducked into a bush to keep an eye on the situation outside.
There were four dragon guards at the side door, and there was no way Leon could get out that way.
cr*p.
Was his escape plan about to come crashing down so soon?
Think of a way, Leon.
Use your brain.
Imagine what your old master would do in this situation.
Leon paused, maybe it was better not to think about it.
Because that old man would definitely choose the most primitive and embarrassing way:
Crawling through a dog hole.
But Leon didn’t want to crawl through a dog hole not because it was embarrassing, but because this was the Dragon Race’s territory; they didn’t keep dogs as pets, let alone leave a hole for one near the front door—
Out of the corner of his eye, Leon accidentally spotted a hole nearby.
“A dog… hole.”
No, not a dog hole.
It was much larger than a typical dog hole.
Leon straightened up a bit, measuring it, and realized this hole was practically tailor-made for him!
He didn’t even need to crawl; he could just walk through normally.
Leon’s eyes lit up, “Talk about lucky—this is just falling into a fortune!”
He excitedly slipped through the hole, successfully escaping from the Silver Dragon Temple.
The process was so smooth it felt like someone was secretly helping him.
After getting out, Leon headed straight into the deep mountains.
He needed to burrow into the woods before dark to avoid being spotted by Roswiser.
Unbeknownst to him, everything he had just done was being observed by Roswiser from the temple’s rooftop.
Little Moon was leaning on the railing, pointing at Leon’s back from a distance, “Look, Mother, Dad is running really fast! So cool!”
“Yeah, I see it. Pretty impressive.”
“But doesn’t Dad suspect anything? He’s running away so smoothly—it’s all because of your clever plan, Mother.”
“He just wants to be free. He’s got no fault; waking up out of a two-year nap, his mind isn’t exactly sharp.”
“Um… when are you going to go fetch Dad back?” Moon blinked her big, sparkling eyes.
Leon thought Moon’s dragon traits were quite evident, which was true.
But those bright eyes looked more human.
Gentle and soft, unlike Roswiser’s dragon eyes that were filled with a daunting dominance and aggression.
Roswiser gradually crouched down, raising a finger to gently seal Moon’s lips, “We don’t say ‘fetch him back’ when it comes to Dad; that’s very rude.”
Moon tilted her head, “Then what should I say?”
Roswiser smirked, then seriously said,
“Catch him back.”
XX
Late at night, drained of energy, Leon reached a small riverbank to recharge.
First, he downed a bottle of nutritional potion and nibbled on some cookies.
Then he leaned over the river and scooped some water to quench his thirst.
After satisfying his hunger and thirst, Leon sat quietly, waiting for his strength to recover.
He looked across the river; after crossing it and climbing two more mountains, he’d be near human territory’s border.
Once there, his escape plan would be half a success.
And now that he was slightly relaxed, Leon couldn’t help but wonder why his escape was going so smoothly?
Since he left that room, he had barely faced any obstacles.
If the Dragon Race guards had been this lax from the beginning, then he and his Dragon Slaying team wouldn’t have struggled so much two years ago.
What’s going on here—
“Rustle—”
While he pondered, he suddenly heard faint footsteps behind him.
Leon sprang to his feet and alertly turned around.
A tall figure slowly emerged from the darkness.
“Looks like you can run pretty well, Leon.”
With a tone dripping with disdain and a hint of mockery, and that familiar voice, Leon felt a chill run down his spine.
“Roswiser…”
“Your daughter misses you; let me take you back.”
“I’m not going back with you!”
Roswiser smiled lightly, stepping out of the shadows and standing before Leon.
Her poised stance and lazy demeanor sharply contrasted with Leon’s tense appearance.
She looked into Leon’s pitch-black eyes and said leisurely, “So where do you want to go? Back to the Empire?”
As she spoke, Roswiser reached out, gently poking Leon’s chest, “Don’t forget, Dragon Slayer, there’s already my mark on your chest. You can never go back to the Empire as the Dragon Slayer again. Got it?”
Leon swatted Roswiser’s hand away forcefully, taking two steps back and blurted out, “Then I’ll start life anew as a regular person. Anything is better than being tormented by you here.”
“Pfft, ungrateful. Fine, since you want to go home so much, I’ll make it happen for you.”
“W-what?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, a pair of dragon wings suddenly unfurled behind Roswiser.
The wings stretched over twenty meters wide; a gentle flap stirred up a whirlwind.
Leon shielded his eyes, instinctively bracing himself.
Then Roswiser pulled her wings together, wrapping herself up.
After a moment of silence, a high-pitched dragon roar shattered the skies.
Next, a silver dragon stood majestically before Leon.
The dragon was covered in scales, exhaling heavily, with royal dragon eyes, and its massive body stood as tall as a multi-story building.
This was Roswiser’s dragon form.
Majestic, divine, solemn.
Just standing before her, Leon could feel an immense pressure that made it hard to breathe.
Roswiser slowly lowered her dragon head, coming close to Leon.
Those obnoxiously slanted dragon eyes looked like a giant mirror reflecting Leon’s image.
Leon couldn’t help but gulp; in a moment of madness, he said,
“Roswiser… you’re not thinking about riding me in that form, are you? Let me tell you, I won’t turn into a dragon, and if you try, I’ll just turn into a puddle of mush right there.”
Roswiser remained silent, just slightly opened her mouth, revealing sharp fangs as she moved closer to Leon.
Leon seemed to come to a realization; he forced himself to calm down, refusing to back away or crack any more jokes.
He faced Roswiser directly,
“Are you finally going to k*ll me? Your Majesty, I’ve been waiting for this moment.”
Roswiser drew nearer and nearer.
Leon slowly opened his arms and then closed his eyes.
However, unexpectedly, Roswiser wasn’t planning to k*ll him or eat him.
She simply grabbed Leon by the collar and, with a toss of her head, flung him onto her back.
Then, Roswiser flapped her wings, stirring up a storm around her.
Her gigantic body slowly lifted off the ground, soaring into the boundless night sky.
Leon clung tightly to Roswiser’s back, cautiously peeking ahead as they flew.
He patted the scales on Roswiser’s back, “Where are you really taking me?”
“To your long-yearned old home—the Empire.”
