39 Let’s Put “Perfect Match” on the Screen
Leon’s suggestion was quite a compromise.
It allowed them to maintain the appearance of a harmonious family in front of outsiders without having to awkwardly attach a strange tail against their will.
Roswiser felt a bit speechless about it, but considering the situation, there really wasn’t a better option than Leon’s idea.
She slowly lifted her tail, curling the tip into a half heart shape, and positioned it between the two of them.
Leon also stretched out his hand, curling his four fingers and forming a half heart with his thumb.
Their heart-hand gestures and “tail position” looked pretty good; it was just that both of them hesitated, as if they were too shy to make physical contact.
Oh, when you think about it, it’s quite normal.
Neither of them had any relationship experience.
Setting aside the whatnots, they’d only accidentally held hands once.
So innocent!
“Your Majesty, are you done yet?” Selina urged.
“Ah, okay, okay, almost there.”
Roswiser replied while giving Leon a sharp glare, lowering her voice, “Be serious, don’t move around.”
“I’m not moving! It’s your tail that’s misbehaving.”
“My tail is perfectly flexible! Unlike you, all shy and retreating.”
As soon as Leon heard that, he wasn’t having it anymore.
He grabbed the tip of Roswiser’s tail with one hand and lined it up with his heart-forming hand. Finally, they had the pose down.
Roswiser secretly pinched the outside of Leon’s thigh, gritting her teeth, she said,
“Don’t, touch, my, tail.”
His grabbing of her tail always brought back not-so-fond memories from that night.
“Okay, okay, just like that, stay still~”
Selina lifted her camera, aiming at the family of four, “Couple, smile! Smile! Oh, right~ the little princesses can pose however they like! Mmm, perfect~”
Click—Click—
Bright flashes went off several times in a row.
Selina took loads of photos to pick the best one later.
“Alright, thanks for your cooperation, everyone. Next up, we’ll take Noia’s school photo!”
Moon was quite sensible, and at the mention of her sister’s school photo, she jumped down from her seat and ran to the side to wait obediently.
Selina led Noia to change into a more formal little dragon’s dress.
Family portraits could be cozy, but school photos needed to be serious.
Once dressed, Noia stood between Leon and Roswiser, ready for the photo.
Saint His Academy had strict evaluation standards for families, so besides the enrolled student, the parents also needed to be in the photo.
The couple and the ice queen little dragon all straightened their backs, not daring to breathe too deeply, their three pairs of eyes fixated on the camera with blank expressions.
Selina glanced at the three faces in the lens, feeling something was off.
Serious? Sure, but it seemed a bit too serious.
It looked less like a school photo and more like something you’d see at a funeral, a hundred years later, the three faces could be cut out and displayed in monochrome.
“Alright, you three, being serious is fine, but loosen up a bit; you look too unnatural.” Selina suggested.
“Okay, teacher.”
It really was a tough gig for Selina, dealing with such a quirky family.
The husband and wife were arch-enemy rivals, and the daughter was a cool kid who naturally didn’t like to smile.
Taking photos of them was a true test of Selina’s skills.
But luckily, Selina was professional enough, and even with three stone-cold faces, she managed to catch a couple of good school shots using lighting, angles, and detailed close-ups.
“Okay, I’ll have the photos developed and ready for you in about six hours. In the meantime, you can wander around Sky City.”
“Thanks, Selina, teacher.”
Roswiser let out a sigh of relief, turning to her little daughter Moon, wanting to invite her along to leave.
But when she looked over, little dragon daughter was sitting there obediently, looking over in envy.
Roswiser’s heart fluttered.
Just as she was about to call for Moon to join the photo session, Leon piped up,
“Moon, do you want to take a picture with Mommy and Daddy too?”
Moon’s eyes lit up, “Yes!”
Roswiser glanced at Leon, wanting to say something, but ultimately turned her head away.
Moon stood in between her parents, and since this was neither a family portrait nor a school photo, the three of them all seemed more relaxed.
Leon even picked up Moon, and she eagerly extended her little tail to mimic her mom’s earlier heart gesture with Leon.
Leon naturally didn’t refuse.
Soon, Noia came over to take some warm and fuzzy group photos.
Without any rules binding them, they posed however they liked.
“Sis, do you want to do the heart gesture with Daddy? It’s super fun!”
Noia was taken aback, shaking her head in response, “Nope.”
“Hmph~ You’re so uptight! I’ll do the heart with Sister then~”
Noia finally agreed, “Okay.”
The two little dragon daughters took loads of cute pictures together.
Selina had it easier for the rest of the sh**t.
While the two little ones were busy posing, Leon and Roswiser sat aside.
They didn’t chat; they just silently watched their daughters.
Leon didn’t feel like talking much with that Mother Dragon.
After all, each time they chatted about anything unrelated to their daughters, they’d end up squabbling.
And Roswiser seemed to share the same sentiment as Leon; she sat with her legs crossed, propping her chin up, silently beaming at her two daughters.
Thus, a rather odd scene unfolded in the photo-taking area:
On one side, the atmosphere was cheerful and lively, with two little dragon daughters trying out all sorts of poses, while Selina was having a blast shooting away;
On the other side, the couple who had just formed hearts with their tails and hands hadn’t spoken a word.
They didn’t look like they were there to take photos; more like they were at the civil affairs bureau to finalize a divorce.
Realizing the atmosphere wasn’t great for family “harmony,” Roswiser looked ahead and casually remarked,
“Don’t you want to bring up a topic to k*ll some time? It looks like Noia and the others will be posing for a while.”
“What topic could I bring up with you? How about we step outside and duke it out? By the time we’re done, they’ll be finished.”
As expected, whenever they tried to have a casual chat, it would end up in a spat in less than three sentences.
“The security regulations in Sky City are strict; public brawling starts with at least a six-month sentence.”
“Are you lecturing me on the law? I’m a human; your dragon laws can’t hold me.”
“What would the punishment be for public brawling among humans then?”
“Win, and you go to jail; lose, and you end up in the hospital.”
“Isn’t that somewhat similar for humans and dragons?”
“Uh… Huh? Don’t try to get chummy with me, Mother Dragon.”
The couple bickered for about half an hour before Noia and Moon had taken enough photos.
“Well, with all these photos, I might not be able to develop them until tonight. Do you want to play around in Sky City a bit more, or come back tomorrow?”
“We’ll come by tonight to pick them up; thanks for your hard work, teacher.”
“It’s nothing. I wish Your Majesty, the Prince, and the two little princesses a delightful time in Sky City.”
After the family of four thanked her, they left the photo studio.
Selina watched their retreating figures until they vanished around the street corner before finally looking away.
She glanced down at her camera and spotted a candid shot she had just captured.
It wasn’t of the family of four, nor the two little dragon daughters.
But rather…
The silver-haired beauty sitting shoulder to shoulder with the young boy. Though their bodies faced different directions, their eyes were connected.
Bright sunlight streamed through the studio window, casting a warm glow on their shoulders, specks of dust dancing in the beams like little elves, swirling around them.
Their gazes intertwined, holding no romantic undertones, nor excessive warmth, but the lovely innocent feelings between them, like water about to spill from a cup, were nearly overflowing.
“They really do look like a couple.”
Selina commented.
