Chapter 22: Wish Princess
Night Lan was wandering alone in the dreamscape, with no one around her.
It seemed that when people entered a dream, they popped up in random spots, not all bundled together like a family reunion.
She wanted to find others, but it was coming down to luck at this point.
“Hmm… I wonder if Kong Yu Bai and Book Yao made it into the dream? They must have, right? If they hadn’t, they’d be waking up soon and showing up at the theater…”
You know, controlling your sleep state is a skill many people have mastered. And let’s not forget that the Star Holders have even more mental prowess.
Kong Yu Bai and Book Yao would definitely sense the changes caused by the Star Eclipse.
If they hadn’t entered the dream, they would wake up immediately!
But since they weren’t back at the theater, they must have successfully slipped into dreamland.
However, Night Lan didn’t know where they were and could only wander around in hope of bumping into them.
She figured she wasn’t going to the Night Watcher Headquarters anytime soon, so she could always return when the dream was nearing its end.
Honestly, she preferred teaming up with Book Yao and Kong Yu Bai anyway.
After all, they were her best friends!
With them, there were no worries—you could throw tantrums and act all cutesy without any hesitation! The freedom was off the charts!
“Hmm~ But where could they be? I should’ve set a meetup spot before jumping into the dream, ugh.”
Night Lan let out a soft sigh, complaining about her lack of preparation.
Before diving in, she should have made better plans.
The Night Watchers could gather at Headquarters, but what about Kong Yu Bai and Book Yao? This place was no fixed Rising Sun Theater.
“Forget it, I’ll just go with the flow! Even if I can’t find them, I can wait for the next time. As long as I know they managed to get in, that’s enough for me.”
With a relaxed mindset, Night Lan continued on her journey through the dream world, stepping onto a solo adventure.
She didn’t approach regular dreamers actively. If she ran into weirdos, she’d just take a detour—classic social anxiety girl move!
Although there were plenty of people in the dream, if Kong Yu Bai and Book Yao were among them, she would spot them in an instant.
Thanks to her understanding of the two, there was no doubt about it!
Night Lan believed that Kong Yu Bai and Book Yao could quickly notice her too.
That’s the power of friendship for ya!
“Hmm~”
With that thought, she was surprisingly calm.
Then, Night Lan continued to gaze into the distance, watching ordinary dreamers display their true selves in line with the dream’s nature, and she suddenly felt a tinge of sympathy.
Given this scenario, those behaviors must be cringey, right?
If her embarrassing black history were laid bare before everyone, she’d be so mortified she’d want to crawl under a rock!
But those dreamers didn’t notice anything strange, assuming it was simply a whimsical dream. Once they woke up, it would all be forgotten—not too shabby for human nature.
But being able to freely manifest your true thoughts? That was a kind of enjoyment in itself.
There’s a saying that fits well here: some people appear to wear a mask, while in reality, they’re taking it off.
The personalities that emerge once the mask is on are often the most genuine.
Because they’re not trapped by their own identities.
Various factors push their real thoughts deep down, continuously suppressing them. It’s kind of sad when you think about it.
Social butterflies, on the other hand, don’t have that problem.
Those social wizards in the dream world must be living their best lives, expressing themselves without a care!
They might even figure out how to play around with the dream’s characteristics in no time!
“Hmm, got sidetracked there. Anyway, I’m bored. Should I try using some Star Eclipse power?”
As the Star Eclipse dream is the creation of the Dream Narrator, its characteristics could be utilized by dream inhabitants. Simply put, it means using the power of the Star Eclipse Embodiment!
Bringing her true thoughts to life sounded like an absolute blast!
I mean, it wouldn’t lead to an unwanted pregnancy, right? Just a light little experiment.
So the question is…
What’s her true thought at the moment?
“Hmm… Can I turn the Wish Machine into a Loli?”
Night Lan instinctively thought of this.
Since the Extraordinary Star has its own consciousness, wouldn’t it be possible for it to become a Loli too?
Even if not, turning into a lifelike action figure would work!
Just as that thought crossed her mind, a burst of white light suddenly emanated from her body, as if something was about to emerge.
“Eh? No way?!”
A glowing sphere landed on the ground and quickly morphed into a figure.
Night Lan instinctively closed her eyes, and only after the light faded did she slowly open them.
“Hmm…”
After cautiously peeking, she was met with a familiar figure that made her gulp.
“W-Wish Princess?”
There stood a little Loli who looked almost exactly like her!
The only differences were in hair color and eye color.
Her hair was a unique mix of black and white, while her eyes featured a stunning red-blue gradient.
Honestly, Night Lan was flabbergasted.
Why did it feel like this was another version of Night Star or Night Lan herself?
More like a combined version.
This blew Night Lan’s mind for the entire year.
After a moment, she finally snapped back to reality.
“I can’t believe it actually worked… the Star Eclipse dream is crazier than I thought, even the Extraordinary Star Wish Machine can be interfered with. I must totally revise my thoughts on this…”
While saying that, Night Lan eyed the Loli version of the Extraordinary Star with mixed feelings.
Originally, she was just joking around when she thought to try it. Who could’ve predicted it would actually happen?
Thank goodness this is just a dream, so it’s not a real wish come true.
So this “Wish Princess” is probably just an illusion.
Yep, that’s gotta be it!
Night Lan swallowed, unable to picture what would happen if the Extraordinary Star had a real body.
Would it look down on its host for being a total loser and ditch her in the night?
That’s legitimately terrifying.
Thinking about that made Night Lan start to get anxious.
“Um… Wish Princess? Are you going to leave me?”
The Wish Princess didn’t respond, not even giving her a glance.
Night Lan fell quiet, then tentatively tried to touch the Loli who looked like her doppelgänger.
” poke~ ”
Her finger gently pressed into the Wish Princess’s cheek, then pulled back. She repeated the motion several times.
“Her cheeks are just as soft as mine.”
After arriving at that conclusion, Night Lan reached out to touch the Wish Princess’s black and white hair and even rubbed her face against it.
“Hmm, the texture is familiar. I really like it.”
Then Night Lan’s confidence surged, and she started hugging the Wish Princess and cuddling her, just like she would with Night Star.
“Hmm~ Even the feeling of hugging is the same, and the body scent is pretty similar too.”
Night Lan pondered.
“Gotta taste it, slurp~”
Her pink tongue gently traced over the Wish Princess’s cheek, leaving an almost unnoticeable wet mark.
“Dang, the taste is just the same!”
