Chapter 27: Getting Along Harmoniously
The weekend is approaching, and activities for the theater group are about to start. The makeup artist, participating in a group activity for the first time, seems quite excited. Come to think of it, this is also her first time working with a new theater troupe, so she can finally do her makeup magic on the members.
The gentleman and the fraudster also stepped out of the shadows. Even though acting isn’t their actual job, since there are only a few members in the troupe, they’re the only ones who fit the bill. Plus, their acting skills are top-notch; they can handle acting roles like pros. With a few more skills under their belt, they’re practically the group’s Swiss Army kn*fe.
Seems like a good plan.
A small troupe struggles to put on diverse performances. Having good acting isn’t enough; perhaps the singer could teach them two songs, too. Night Star thinks the gentleman’s and fraudster’s voice has great resonance. If taught well, their singing could add variety to the show.
This way, the stage won’t be monopolized by the singer’s voice alone. A big chorus performance would also be stunning. Of course, that depends on whether the duo is okay with it.
“Hmm~ hmm~”
Night Star hummed cheerfully sitting in the audience section backstage. She was waiting for everyone to get ready. The makeup artist was busy working on a few performers.
Even though it’s just a rehearsal, a light touch-up is needed. In this process, the makeup artist should have chances to bond with the gentleman and fraudster. They’re generally kind to the cast; it all comes down to how well the makeup artist blends in.
Suddenly, a figure materialized beside Night Star – it was the elusive Mo Rabbit.
Night Star wasn’t surprised anymore.
“Announcer, I got news from the group leader. Seems the dream narrator met him. Do you think it’s possible he can appear in our world? If he does, we might stand a better chance against the Night Watchers.”
“Hmm? Why tell me? Shouldn’t you alert the Night Watcher Leader?”
“Uh, I want your opinion on this. Do you think the dream narrator could show up in reality?”
“How shall I know?”
Mo Rabbit shrugged, looking elsewhere with disinterest. “The dream narrator isn’t here for now, but if he’s just a projection, maybe we’ve got a shot. But don’t get your hopes up.”
“Huh… Is that so? Could the group leader’s mention be about the dream narrator’s projection?”
Night Star pondered, unsure what to say. That would require validation.
“Why not ask him in a dream? Find out his purpose or how to lure him out or even his weakness.”
“Y-You…”
Mo Rabbit gave a suspicious look, hesitating to speak.
“You finally lost it? If so, maybe you should see the doc at headquarters.”
“Uh… Yeah, maybe I am…”
Night Star sighed slightly, feeling a bit melancholic. When will the Night Watchers finally be dealt with?
Or when will Mo Rabbit settle?
If she drags her feet much longer, she’ll just have to take matters into her own hands, though.
A bit later, the makeup complete, the group leader emerged from behind the scenes.
Night Star eyed the stage. Their makeup had improved significantly. Clearly, the makeup artist knew more than the fraudster did.
She seemed proud of it.
“It’s no surprise for an original member. Makeup Artist, your talent is top-notch. Impressive,” Gentleman genuinely said.
Seeing that, the makeup artist smiled a tad pridefully, “This is the one skill I can bring to the table. Without it, I’m not sure I’d stay here.”
“Glad to hear it. Your dedication makes me happy.”
Seems things were going well between them.
Night Star focused on Gentleman. Now, he seemed like more of a performer on stage.
He wasn’t an official performer; he handled security and crowd control. He took to the stage for the first time because of Night Star’s request.
Gentleman adored Night Star and treated viewers with great leniency, making the exception for him to perform.
And performing proved his natural talent in theater.
Now, Gentleman was more than just a security guy—also an actor for missing roles.
His acting could fill any void.
That’s when Fraudster piped up.
“S’not like makeup’s complicated. I can make performers stand out enough with my trickery.”
Fraudster clearly didn’t care much about makeup.
Seeing Fraudster’s face, Makeup Artist smiled gently.
“Ahaha, Fraudster, you’ve objections about my craft?”
Fraudster adjusted his mask. “Nah, it’s great.”
“Thanks for your words.”
“You’re welcome.”
Night Star couldn’t help but chuckle. Fraudster has his moments of humility. Makeup Artist seems very skilled. So, she fits right in.
The group seems harmonious. No backstabbing, no exclusion. The Rising Sun troupe is genuinely united.
It beats other groups in town.
Everyone’s dreams are pure.
As long as Night Star or Night Star stays in the troupe, everything will hold strong.
Clap! Clap!
The group leader clapped on stage, catching everyone’s attention.
“Start rehearsing. Settle on the program for the upcoming tour.”
“Yes!”
Backstage Night Star cheered with a fist pump.
Mo Rabbit glanced briefly, then vanished.
No further part in the act, just know the names and sequence.
These can be divined easily.

At the Night Watcher Headquarters.
Night Lan returned to her lounge thanks to Ji Yun from the leader’s office.
“Huh? Thought I could go home. Just more info-gathering?”
With this pace, returning to Yun Chang City feels far away.
