8 Not Suitable for Kids
~
The evening breeze twirled the beauty’s long hair, playfully dancing amidst night and firelight, akin to a fallen Silver River cascading down to Earth.
She walked barefoot, hand in hand with the man called ‘husband’, on the damp sand.
The sand was softly yielding beneath their feet, cool and refreshing with every step. Occasionally, a tiny pool of seawater would seep into the shallow footprints left behind.
From the other side came the rhythmic sound of waves, interwoven with soft, continuous singing.
Holding hands was General Leon’s idea.
When he came to Roswiser earlier and mentioned walking hand-in-hand on the beach, Roswiser thought the dog man couldn’t help himself and was about to confess?
”Dragon Slayer, even you are about to surrender your machismo?”
But as it turns out, the Queen underestimated him once again.
Leon said he simply wanted to flaunt their affection in front of their daughters.
The look in Noia’s eyes a few days ago left too deep an impression on Leon, compelling him to take it seriously.
So he decided to take advantage of the seaside trip to showcase to Noia and her sisters just how much their parents cared for each other.
After learning General Leon’s plan, Roswiser readily went along with it.
The couple strolled along the beach, holding hands, his talent matched by her beauty, an outstanding presence drawing many admiring glances.
They looked so picturesque when standing together.
Everything around seemed to frame them as the center of attention. Even the moon and stars in the night sky seemed to dim in comparison.
Strangers would think they were newlyweds here for a travel wedding photo session.
In reality, all they were doing was holding hands and taking a walk.
Roswiser adjusted her wind-blown hair with a hand, “I thought something was up, but we’re just going for a stroll?”
Leon, caressing her soft hand, shrugged, “What else did you expect?”
”Confession!”
Roswiser said, “Evening breeze, beach, ocean, firelight, and stars… perfect ingredients for a romantic declaration.”
”Sure thing,” Leon replied, “So, go ahead, confess.”
The Queen paused in her steps and glanced sideways at the dog man. “You mean… me making a confession to you?”
”You said now’s a great moment, always urging me on, so confess already, I’m all ears.”
Roswiser smirked and playfully punched his arm. “In your dreams if I’ll confess to you, this queen’s feelings are eternal, for the next life, maybe!”
”Oh, how touching.”
Hearing this, Roswiser blinked in confusion, “Touching? What’s so touching about that?”
”You only think about our next life, something I thought only mattered in this one. That’s more touching than any confession.”
Roswiser angrily let go of Leon’s hand and swiftly kicked him into the sea.
But General Leon, with years of military experience, reacted instantly.
As his body fell toward the water, he quickly grabbed her sleeve.
Splash!
Roswiser’s startled scream was drowned out by the sound of rushing water.
Both plunged into the shallow area off the beach.
When she came to her senses, she found herself resting on Leon’s chest.
Her chin nestled in his chest, she gazed up to see that dog man leisurely floating amidst the waves, a smug grin plastered all over his face.
Roswiser, pursing her lips with frustration, pinched his side.
Before Leon could even yelp, she silenced him with a hand over his mouth.
Her actions were smooth, practiced, like second nature.
Once her vengeance was served, Roswiser got up, arms crossed, and gave a haughty scoff. “In the next life, I don’t want to meet you.”
Leon surfaced from the water and moved closer. “What about the life after that?”
”Same,” she replied curtly.
“Hmm. Seems like we better finish the tasks of two lives in this one alone, then.”
Roswiser raised an eyebrow and asked casually, “Like what?”
“Having more children… something like that.”
“Sss—You’re asking for it!”
As her words faded, Roswiser laughed and raised her hand, while Leon laughed and dodged.
Before her delicate palm could land, Leon smoothly retook her hand.
Roswiser made a token effort, shaking her hand twice.
But to no avail.
”Tsk, childish.”
She resigned herself to the childish Dragon Slayer’s antics, letting him hold her hand as they continued to wander the sandy beach.
At the same time, on the other side of the beach, the three little dragon girls watched their parents’ playful antics, displaying different expressions and various thoughts.
Moon (っω•c): Mom and dad are adorable~
Little Light 貓( ̳• ◡ • ̳)貓: Although I don’t entirely understand, since mom already kicked dad once, it seems fair for me to throw in an uppercut as well.
Noia: Reborn, my dad’s power to one-hit KO Constantine but still gets Mom’s signature boot into the sea.
But Noia’s thoughts went deeper.
Leon’s concern was valid; Noia had been troubled by her parents’ emotions and their family’s dynamics recently.
That fateful night when she visited their room, only to find it empty.
And after that night, they were gone for five whole days.
She asked Anna where her parents had gone.
Anna said they’d gone to handle some personal matters, requesting the princess not to worry.
Noia asked again, “What could it be that they wouldn’t even tell me, their daughter?”
Anna replied, “Adult matters can often be complex. Sometimes, even their own children shouldn’t be told.”
Noia didn’t generally like being treated like a child.
But this time, she accepted that she wasn’t an adult.
Because she felt how little she truly knew about her parents.
All this while, she had been testing their love, enjoying their affection, but never made an effort to understand these two people who loved her so much.
Combining the numerous doubts and questions she’d noticed before, Noia’s small head brewed up an unsettling thought:
Whatever her parents were hiding from her was something vital to the entire family.
If this secret ever got out of their control or leaked through some external factor, it could deliver a fatal blow to their family.
Noia couldn’t help but be concerned about it. Even after her parents returned, the shadow cast on her heart remained.
She found herself returning to the days when her father first awoke, desperately seeking clues to reassure herself of their love, their care for each other and this family, their unwavering commitment to their bond.
Fortunately for Noia K. Melkway, she had the best father in the world.
The moment he caught the slightest hint of worry in her eyes, Leon did everything in his power to put his daughter at ease.
Her father knew her, loved her, and acted with impressive efficiency.
Tonight, Leon and Roswiser’s display continuously reinforced Noia’s belief that “They love each other and deeply care about this family.”
With that, the worries and troubles of the little dragon girl slowly dissipated with the cool evening breeze.
Though the thought of the eventual separation still lingered, the happiness flooding her heart was overwhelming, much like overflowing water in a cup, enough to make Noia forget her sorrows for the moment.
“Sister! Sister! Sister!!”
Lost in thought, Moon excitedly shook her arm.
“What?” Noia snapped out of it and looked at her younger sister.
Moon jumped up and pointed toward the distant beach. “Our parents are doing something kids shouldn’t see!”
”Eh?”
Noia followed her little sister’s finger to the sight.
Sure enough.
The two stood in the surf, water up to their ankles.
Mother’s silvery locks cascaded like a dazzling waterfall;
Father embraced her slender waist with his broad hands, pulling her tightly against his chest.
They gazed at each other, their noses just barely brushing, their lips grazing in heated anticipation.
The beauty lifted her hand, her fingertips tracing her husband’s cheek as she stared into his eyes. Smiling coyly, she said, “You do know our daughters are watching, right?”
”Yes.”
”And you surely understand, some scenes, young eyes shouldn’t witness.”
”Queen Majesty, a touch goes a long way.”
Roswiser flushed, her cheeks glowing as she chuckled. “Alright, alright, we’ll just stop… right there.”
She closed her eyes and leaned in for a kiss.
Meanwhile, on the sideline,
Noia watched in fascination.
She finally understood Headmaster Wilson’s and that old geezer’s feelings. Who knew shipping was so exhilarating?
Moon, however, dutifully covered her sister’s eyes and gravely declared, “Little ones shouldn’t see this~”
Little Light: Big sister, looks like my uppercut is coming your way too.
