Chapter 38 – Hard to Say
The Dream Narrator smiled at Night Lan.
“Then start your action. Whatever you want to do, feel free. I won’t interfere.”
“Umm… I don’t want to do anything. I’m just a casual observer!”
“Oh? That’s surprising. But are you really thinking that? Or shall I help you dream up something?”
Suddenly, the Dream Narrator reached out to touch Night Lan.
Night Lan stepped back, terrified, and was already considering summoning Wish Princess behind her.
“Help!”
She screamed out loud in fear.
Unfortunately, her scream didn’t bring the all-powerful Theater Group members, nor did it summon Wish Princess.
It was as if nothing had happened.
However, the scream traveled far, drawing them closer quickly.
In just under fifteen seconds, they had arrived at the scene of the incident.
Leader appeared on the street where the Day-Night Reversal Club stood, leading a group of Sunlight Night Watchers. The atmosphere was incredibly fierce.
The daydream seemed a bit smaller, only as big as the entertainment district.
Night Watchers spread out in different areas upon entering and soon gathered together.
They rushed over immediately after hearing her cry for help.
Leader quickly surveyed the area, taking stock of everything.
Then he saw a familiar figure in the distance—in other words, Night Lan.
A few feet away from her were two unfamiliar figures.
One was a petite black-haired girl holding a strange long flute.
The other was a tall, sophisticated-looking man, exuding elegance and mystery, implying he wasn’t someone ordinary.
Leader instantly guessed their identities.
Sure enough, they were Star Eclipses of the dream world, one of whom was the mastermind behind everything—Dream Narrator!
And earlier, it was Night Lan who called out for help.
This meant only one thing: Dream Narrator wanted to make a move on Night Lan.
This couldn’t be ignored.
Countless thoughts flashed through Leader’s mind as he decisively gave orders.
“Everyone prepare for battle! Liu Ying Mo, bring back that lone black-haired girl!”
“Copy!”
Liu Ying Mo quickly activated the dream-limited version of Star, then charged out at incredible speed.
Her star named Acceleration Field could stack speed while moving—it started at Supersonic C normally, rapidly stacking to Supersonic B, finally reaching unparalleled Supersonic A.
If Supersonic A kept going, it could circle the Earth within a short time—an unfathomable speed.
Supersonic A doesn’t have a fixed value.
As long as it exceeds Supersonic B, it falls into the domain of Supersonic A, an inexhaustible term.
Sadly, the dream-limited version of the star had an upper limit, only maxing out to Supersonic B.
The same applied to other Sunlight Night Watchers or they wouldn’t be so frustrated.
In just a blink of an eye, Liu Ying Mo reached Night Lan’s side and brought her back to Leader and her fellow Sunlight Night Watchers.
Night Lan hadn’t quite recovered her senses yet.
“Leader?”
Leader asked concernedly, “Are you okay? Did Star Eclipses do anything to you?”
“Umm… No, you came really fast.”
“That’s good.”
Leader turned his gaze to the two unfamiliar Star Eclipses standing motionlessly in the distance.
Seemingly, things hadn’t escalated to the point of swords being drawn.
“Are you the weavers of this dream?”
Leader loudly asked.
Dream Narrator chuckled lightly without concealing anything.
“Yes, authentic and genuine.”
“State your purpose. Your actions are severely disrupting the order we protect.”
“Purpose? Just wanting to see more people’s true colors. This brings endless joy to me, and only in dreams do those true selves fully reveal themselves. Simple.”
On hearing this, Leader inwardly cursed.
Such a Star Eclipses, driven by interest as an obsession, would be the hardest to negotiate with.
Because no rhetoric used by Night Watchers could persuade this Star Eclipses to give up their goal.
“Once again, how long will you continue? Will your power harm those who enter the dream?”
“Duration? It’s hard to say precisely, but it should end when I am satisfied. And when I’ll be satisfied… well, that’s difficult to say. Also, my power isn’t simple enough to harm people easily.”
Upon hearing this, the Night Watchers let out a collective sigh of relief.
Whatever the ongoing duration might be, as long as Star Eclipses’ power didn’t affect reality, they could deal with it.
If dreams like these couldn’t hurt the dreamer, Night Watchers could drag this out for a long time.
But before Leader relaxed, Dream Narrator added, “While my power doesn’t harm others autonomously, voluntary ones might be different.”
Leader’s heart tightened once more, his eyes narrowing slightly.
“What do you mean?”
“It’s pretty straightforward. The dreams I weave are like a second world, slightly different from reality. In similar environments, everything can become easy to achieve in dreams. Many people can express their truest thoughts, or even realize their wishes. They simulate worlds, enjoying them endlessly.
What do you think would happen if they refused to wake up?”
Upon these words, all the Sunlight Night Watchers’ expressions darkened swiftly.
As Dream Narrator stated, if those people refused to wake up, they’d remain forever trapped within the dream.
Star Eclipses’ power provided them with a nearly perfect world.
Even though Night Watchers could distinguish reality and stay strong mentally, common folk lacked such abilities.
“Haha.”
Dream Narrator saw their suspicious glares but remained calm.
“Don’t look at me like that. Actually, I’m very considerate, giving them a chance to wake up every day.”
He pushed out Dream Pursuer Yin nearby.
“See? The flute music you hear in the dreams is all her work. Once everyone hears it, they can leave the dream and not stay here forever.”
“So she always plays the flute according to schedule?” Leader asked further.
“Sorry, I can’t guarantee that. Who knows, some day I might change my mind, and she might stop playing altogether.”
Dream Narrator wore an elegant smile, but his words were no laughing matter.
Leader coldly stared at Dream Narrator, almost certain now.
This guy was like an unstable bomb, ready to explode at any moment.
Everything hinged on his whims, which no one could change.
If there were no flute sound when citizens entered the dream, Leader wouldn’t bet on many people waking up voluntarily.
And nobody knew what the outcomes would be if they forcibly woke someone in reality.
Given that this Star Eclipses posed a significant threat, he was an enemy of Night Watchers.
In short, Dream Narrator was a calamity incarnate!
