50 Stars Faded from Sight
Leon brought the future scientist to Roswiser’s library.
After the relationship with that Mother Dragon smoothed out, she gave Leon the keys to most rooms in the Silver Dragon Temple.
Naturally, this included her private library.
Pushing open the library door, rows of neat bookshelves greeted the eye, and the elegant, simple decor added a delightful aroma of books to the room.
As soon as she entered, Little Light’s eyes widened in surprise, her tiny fists clenched in excitement, and even her tail perked up slightly. Her pink pupils sparkled with anticipation for books and knowledge.
This was her first visit to Roswiser’s library, so her excitement was to be expected.
Leon patted Little Light’s head, “How’s it here?”
“Super awesome!”
Leon chuckled, “Sister Noia studied here for a while too, and this place was also Sister Moon’s magical enlightenment spot. If you want to learn more, this library will totally meet your needs.”
The collection in Roswiser’s library could satisfy even a master like Noia, let alone Little Light, who was just starting out.
Leon gave her back a comforting pat, “Go on, pick a few books that interest you. Dad will be waiting at the desk by the floor-to-ceiling window.”
“Okay~”
Unable to contain her excitement, Little Light dashed into the midst of the bookshelves, hunting for her favorite books.
Leon settled into a spot he often frequented when accompanying Noia and Moon, waiting quietly.
After about ten minutes, Little Light waddled over with a stack of books that towered above her head, swaying as she tried to keep her balance while her tail wagged behind her.
Leon shook his head with a smile and stepped forward to take the books from her arms, “With this many, can you even finish them?”
“Dad, you don’t understand, books are the stairway to a child’s progress!”
Leon raised an eyebrow, taken aback.
He had heard that saying before, but wasn’t the original “Books are the stairway to human progress”?
Hiss~
Could it be that the human bloodline in his little daughter was beginning to awaken?
No wonder she was quieter and showed much more interest in books than other young dragons—so that was the reason!
Alrighty then, good girl, you’ve made your dad proud!
Yet before Leon could bask in his glory, he soon realized things weren’t quite as he imagined.
Seeing Little Light take the books from his arms one by one, she started placing them on the chair next to the desk, stacking them layer by layer.
Eventually, she climbed up and sat on her ‘little mountain of books,’ perfectly poised to lean over the desk and read.
“Look, Dad, the stairway to progress!” Little Light proudly patted the few books beneath her.
So “the stairway to progress” really means this, huh? Adults don’t exactly need a stack of books under their butts while reading at a desk.
While Leon marveled at his daughter’s cleverness, the spark of hope ignited in his heart was doused with cold water.
“Human gene, wake up! Do something, for crying out loud!”
He walked over to sit across from his daughter. “Sweetheart, this isn’t a stairway to progress; it’s a progress b*tt pad.”
“‘Stairway’ sounds more literary.” Little Light said seriously.
Leon chuckled and looked at the few books Little Light hadn’t used as a b*tt pad, “What books did you pick?”
“‘A Brief History of Dragons’, ‘The Hypothesis of Magic Origins’, ‘From Nothing to the Starry Sky’, and…”
As she spoke, Little Light held up one of the books.
Reading the title on the cover, Leon froze momentarily and couldn’t help but exclaim, “’A History of Human Art’?”
Little Light nodded obediently, “Uh-huh!”
There went the hopeful spark.
This time, human genes had really scored a victory!
But amidst the joy, another question popped up:
Why was there a human book in Roswiser’s library?
When he brought Noia and Moon here to study, there wasn’t a single book about humans.
Did they add it in later?
Did that Mother Dragon decide to include it?
Who knows?
Regardless, it’s great that his little daughter is interested in human culture.

Suppressing his laughter, Leon brought his thoughts back to the moment. “Okay, take your time reading. If there’s anything you don’t understand, just ask Dad.”
“Okay~”
Little Light opened ‘A History of Human Art’ and began to read intently.
Leon, feeling a bit bored, picked up the nearby ‘A Brief History of Dragons’ and casually flipped through the pages.
In the table of contents, the author divided the different dragon races and recounted the development history of each tribe in separate chapters.
After skimming through a couple of sections, Leon realized this author had some skills.
Even though the history was narrated in a “fragmented” way, each “fragment” had critical interconnections with others.
Moreover, the order in which the dragon races appeared was well thought out, with a seamless flow.
So even though it was a “fragmented” narrative, it read very cohesively, without any sense of disconnection.
Leon found the section on the Silver Dragon Race.
Their appearance was a bit later, indicating they were already in the latter half of the book.
That meant Roswiser’s race was also a relatively new tribe that emerged in the last thousand years?
“Thanks to their advantageous geographical location, as soon as the Silver Dragon Race came into existence, they secured a place for themselves among the dragons.”
“The defensively advantageous nature of Silver Dragon territory is notable. Thus, throughout history, the Silver Dragon Kings have always been more avoidant of conflict compared to dragon kings of other tribes, never initiating disputes with any race.”
The saying “one’s land nurtures one’s people” has its truth.
The Silver Dragon Race resides in such a resource-rich and advantageous location, so they didn’t need to rampage like Constantine, conquering lands and expanding territories.
Leon continued reading, quickly arriving at the section introducing the main character,
“Fourth Generation Silver Dragon King Roswiser Melkway ascended to the throne in the Year 1680 of the Creation Era. In her forty years of reign (this book was written in the Year 1720 of the Creation Era), the Silver Dragon Race expanded trade, economy, and other systems, allowing the tribe to flourish once more.”
“Before becoming king, Melkway spent nearly a hundred years studying and honing her skills, ultimately passing the academic tests of the Third Generation Silver Dragon King with flying colors, defeating him in a head-on match and gaining the support of all the Silver Dragon subjects.”
“The current principal of Saint His Academy, the absolute authority and fair five-star elder, ‘Angelina Olet’ once commented about her student:”
“Of all the children who love learning, Melkway is the one who stands out the most.”
“She is focused and agile, always shining brightly among the crowd. Even the stars pale in comparison. Her dedication to academics and strength has made her the most outstanding Silver Dragon King in a thousand years.”
“Roswiser Melkway, the pride of Saint His Academy, the pride of the Dragon Race!”
Leon felt his eyelid twitch.
Wow, quite the flattery there…
Vice Principal Wilson is totally a CP fan of him and Roswiser.
And now, the principal has become a single supporter of Roswiser, huh?
So, Saint His Academy isn’t actually a school at all, is it?
You’re just a giant fan club!
Plus, if your most outstanding Melkway is already the pride of the academy, why does my daughter, as her ‘honorary alumni’, still have to take some dramatic tests just to enroll?
Can’t she just get in through the back door?
The last dragon-related academy, Cassel, her honor alum’s kid not only got in through the back door but rated an S-class too… (Not seriously)
After throwing a couple of mental jabs, Leon looked up at Little Light across from him.
His sweet daughter was staring intently at the page, gently biting her lower lip, her brow furrowed in concentration.
Leon didn’t want to disturb her. He lowered his head and continued reading through the gushing praises from Roswiser’s number one fan.
Though it was cringy, Leon was currently into the cringe.
So much praise, I just love it!
Because that’s my wife.
