·Couple’s Double Row
Leon squinted slightly, gazing at the golden figure not far away.
“Do you know that guy?”
Roswiser nodded, her expression serious. “He’s the Star Dragon King—Star, from the list that Aug gave us. A legendary figure from the last generation of dragons, even older than Constantine.”
“Didn’t expect him to dare to challenge us alone,” Leon remarked gloomily.
“That’s why we don’t need to send our men out to d*e for no reason.”
Roswiser said, “In the end, it’s a showdown between kings.”
Her tone was overly heavy, prompting Leon to glance at her. “I’ve never seen you so tense, Roswiser.”
Roswiser halted for a moment, then chuckled.
“Not exactly tense, more like… excited.”
“Excited?”
“As a new king, freshly crowned for fifty years, I get the chance to challenge the Star Dragon King today. What incredible luck!”
“Luck… not sure if you’re being sarcastic or if you really feel that way.”
The Silver Dragon Race generally leans towards peace compared to most dragons, never invading other tribes’ territories without reason.
But that’s just a reflection of the Silver Dragon Race’s environment.
Once you strip away those external factors, silver dragons are still dragons, and the inherent desire for battle and violence can’t be hidden.
Just like Roswiser right now.
She had shed her gentle mom and aloof queen persona, and the warrior genes in her bl**d were starting to awaken.
Facing a formidable opponent like Star, she showed not an ounce of fear, even admitting she was excited.
Leon recalled a little over a year ago when she first awakened; that was when Roswiser’s revenge against him was at its peak.
Each time her torment reached its climax, her emotions would teeter on the edge of chaos.
A few times, Leon even felt she was excited enough to try to k*ll him…
So… the qualities of gentleness, tsundere, and stubbornness made Roswiser especially endearing because they were all “contrast.”
This Silver Dragon Queen still had a sprinkle of “mad beautiful woman” in her attributes.
Leon tapped on the helmet of the Black Gold Battle Armor, the crisp metallic sound snapping him back to reality, no longer pondering these messy thoughts.
He could take his time figuring out his wife’s hidden personality later.
For now, let’s deal with this shiny golden guy in front of us.
Both sides came to a halt almost simultaneously, about two hundred meters apart, right at the boundary line of the Silver Dragon territory.
There’s no rule saying you have to wait for the enemy to cross the boundary to strike back; dragons don’t play by those rules.
Even without a single soldier at his back, Leon could still feel the pressure emanating from the Star Dragon King.
Roswiser was right; this guy was definitely stronger than Constantine.
And a whole lot stronger.
“How much of your magic has recovered?” Roswiser asked, eyes fixed on the enemy.
It had been nearly half a year since Leon defeated Constantine, and he had only recovered about half of his magical power.
“Fifty percent.” He answered honestly, with no pretense.
“Oh, then it seems teaming up is a smart choice.”
Leon opened his mouth to declare, ‘I can wipe out the enemy army even without you, my wife,’ to boost morale.
But he knew Roswiser didn’t like him showing off as a hero alone.
So, instead, he settled for, “I’ve never coordinated with a dragon before.”
“Don’t worry, we’re very in sync, Leon, always… very in sync.”
General Leon almost twisted his back at those words, clearing his throat to hide his embarrassment. “Let’s be serious, it’s a battle.”
The queen chuckled, offering no further comment.
It seemed her state had relaxed a bit, and Leon silently sighed with relief.
A few kilometers away on the general’s platform, Nacho noticed that both sides were on edge, poised for battle, and his mood became tense.
“Do you think those two are plotting some strategy?” Nacho asked.
“Even if they are, we can’t hear them,” Rave replied bluntly.
“What if they’ve already figured out a way to deal with Star? Shouldn’t you get a little closer? It’d be easier to support Star that way.”
Rave ignored his suggestion, saying, “Just stay quiet and wait. You said it yourself, I’m the trump card; you don’t throw a card before the game starts.”
Nacho bit his lip, nervously watching the battlefield ahead.
Meanwhile, all members of the Silver Dragon Race were on high alert.
Despite having faith in their Majesty and His Royal Highness, they still needed to prepare for the worst.
After all, war isn’t child’s play; there’s no guarantee of victory.
At the territorial boundary, Leon clasped his hands together, slowly pulling them apart as a longsword gradually formed in his palm.
The blade was enveloped in blue lightning, fierce arcs flickering on its surface.
B-class Lightning Magic: Lightning Sword Transformation.
Leon didn’t plan to start with his big moves.
One, the enemy’s power was undeniably beyond Constantine’s, and their upper limit was unknown. He had confidence in his strength, but there’s a fine line between confidence and arrogance.
Two, his magical energy reserves weren’t as plentiful as they were during the fight with Constantine, so he needed to conserve his strength for the crucial moments.
As he was lost in thought, the Star Dragon King closed the distance slightly.
They were now close enough to hear each other speak.
“Leon Casmod… you’re the one who killed Constantine, aren’t you?”
The voice came from under the golden helmet, old but commanding.
Most species would need enormous courage just to stand before a dragon king like Scar, let alone engage in conversation.
That’s the so-called ‘dragon might.’
But General Leon was born not knowing what dragon might was. Each time he heard those dragon kings trying to sound deep with their low voices, he just wanted to laugh.
He rested the lightning sword on his shoulder, sounding assertive. “That’s me. What? Are you here to avenge him?”
Leon wasn’t truly the brash type behind the scenes.
But after years of military service, he knew the importance of maintaining momentum in front of the troops.
So, when responding to Star’s inquiry, he saw no need to play by the book; being a bit reckless was totally fine.
“Hmph… no human has ever dared to speak to me like this; you’re the first.”
Scar evidently felt his authority was being challenged. “You think killing Constantine makes you invincible?”
“Invincible? Not really.”
Leon slowly lifted the lightning sword from his shoulder; the bluish glow traced an arc in the air, the sword’s tip aiming straight at Scar. “But taking you down as a side note? No problem.”
This time, it wasn’t just Scar who was shocked by the human’s brashness; even battle-hungry Roswiser was a little taken aback by her Dog Man’s audacity.
He could ignore the opponent’s dragon might, but as a fellow dragon king, Roswiser could definitely feel the pressure.
To be able to mock the enemy under such pressure, this queen respected him for being tough.
Scar’s face became flushed with frustration.
He didn’t want to waste more time talking to the human in front of him.
After all, the old men from the empire had given simple orders:
We want the life of Leon Casmod.
Since that was the case, things got a whole lot simpler.
Scar closed his eyes, adjusted his mindset, then slowly opened them.
The wind and sand swept across the battlefield, and the sun was gradually obscured by thick clouds. Shadows slowly crept from Scar’s direction, covering the ground beneath their feet.
Leon infused more magic into the lightning sword; the blade surged with energy, the arcs dancing around like eager little fairies.
“Aren’t you going to wait for your opponent to strike first?”
Though she said that, Roswiser was preparing to battle; her right hand flipped palm up, and instantly, a Dragon Flame leaped into her palm.
“I’ve always preferred to take the initiative.”
Leon shifted into a side stance, bowing slightly with his sword. “Here we go.”
“Alright.”
The couple became two silver shadows, charging toward Scar at the same time.
In a breath, they ambushed Star from both sides.
Leon swung his sword, and the queen unleashed her Dragon Flame.
The war between kings had begun.
